Chapter Nine
For a while I didn't get why Elaine was upset with me. But then it hit me like lightning. She was uspet because I was pestering her into picking a religion. I guess it did not click with me that just like me, Elaine didn't like me forcing her into a topic she was uncomfortable with. And once I finally understood this, I could not believe I was so stupid.
"Elaine!" I cried, chasing my friend down the hall before school started. "Elaine!"
"Oh, hi," Elaine said, turning around. She seemed relieved that I was finally talking to her, but still a bit wary. That was understandable. "Look, I'm sorry for trying to pester you into picking a religion." I told her, "I should have known that it would bug you."
Elaine surprised me with a hug of gratitude. "It's okay, Paige." She replied, "I'm sorry I overreacted."
"Let's never fight again."
"Deal."
With that problem solved, I felt a lot happier. I had my Rosemary Fairy back! I almost skipped down the hall to my class, my troubles slowly washing away. This week has been crazy, but I got through it. I fought and mended, but I was still not close to choosing a religion. Maybe that's the whole point, I thought, that I'm not supposed to choose quite yet- or choose at all. As I entered the classroom I thought about all the accomplishments I made.
And there was only one thing left to do:
