Waking Up
Arella woke up on her side to see it was still night time, she wasn't sure if it was even the same day or not anymore, but she thinks it was the same night. She rolled over to see John sitting in the spot that Crow was when she went to sleep, he had a chart in his hands and looked at her vitals every so often, not really noticing she was awake. She notices that he didn't have his hoodie on and could see he had a robotic eye that was dimly lit although the rest of his face was human. He was wearing a red tshirt and had a robotic arm yet the other one was flesh. She let him be oblivious for a moment, trying to see how long it would take for him to notice she was awake. When he didn't for a moment she smiled and touched his knee, he jumped a small amount and his robot eye glowed a crimson red but then looked at her and smiled.
"Hey, baby girl, sleep well?" He asked, using his new nickname for her. She nodded and grinned. John took a deep breath and smiled tiredly.
"Hey, John, are you okay?" Arella asked, concerned that he hasn't slept. He waves it off and smiles at her.
"Don't worry, I just woke up to switch places with Birdie," John said and Arella looked confused for a moment and then John chuckled at her and shook his head. "Birdie is the nickname I gave to Crow. He's named after a type of bird," He laughed playfully and Arella couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous nickname for her brother. She wondered what other original names John came up with for the others. "Listen, baby girl, do you talk a lot? Or are you the quiet type?" John asked Arella and Arella blushed, she did communicate through body language and people just responded.
"Well, I mean, I do talk, but I just give facial expressions and body language and people respond like they know exactly what I'm thinking. But I do talk a lot if you don't answer to my non verbal communication and I talk too much when I start backsassin," Arella said and John smiled like he just won the lottery.
"Ah, a backsasser master, huh? You'll love hangin with me then, I'll finally have someone to annoy the others with me," His face was lit up like a child on Christmas Day. It was endearing. He looked so cute, like a puppy! Arella could've guessed that he'd be a backsasser like herself. Arella pulled a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Arella stood up but John stopped her by talking. "Woah, slow down there, doll, I don't think gettin outta bed would be too eventful, nobody is up," John said giving a patient smile.
"Aw, cmon John! We can just hang together! By the way, what time is it?" Arella asked and John looked at the watch on his human wrist. "I thought you knew since it was too late," Arella said in a teasing tone and John had to refrain from laughing.
"Shut up!" John said in an equally teasing tone and he read the watch. "It's 3:37 am," John announced, Arella smiled and took his hand, dragging John to the common room while a surprised Yelp escaped his lips. "Arella! You can't just pull me off guard!" John complained and Arella snickered.
"I can and I did!" Arella smiled victoriously while John gave a grunt while having a fake pouty face already in place. Arella sat on the long, red couch while patting the seat beside her. John rolled his eyes and sat beside her, giving her a playfully suspicious look.
"What are you planin on, princess?" John asked and Arella giggled before answering his question.
"Wanna watch something?" Arella asked, grabbing the remote off of the coffee table. John smiled and nodded, leaning into the couch and putting his feet on the coffee table. Arella did the same to get comfortable. She turned it on and the giant screen turned on with a bright light that caught the two of them off guard and made for a laughing session for the two. Arella flipped through channels until John hopped up unexpectedly and told her to go back. She did and stopped when he told her to.
"Oh my God! My shows on! Sorry, baby girl, but we're watchin this!" John said and Arella got a mischievous look in her eyes. John saw this and pointed a finger at her accusingly. "Nooo, Arella, I know what you're thinking! Bad girl!" He said like he was scolding a puppy but Arella's grin grew wider.
"Oh, John, I don't think I heard you, did you say you wanted me to change the channel?" Arella said dramatically while she had her thumb hovering over the channel button. John had a surprised look on his face and then he narrowed his eyes jokingly.
"You. Wouldn't. Dare!" John said and that just made Arella smirk.
"Oh, but I would!" Arella said and John tackled her unexpectedly yet still being careful with her. He wrestled her on the couch for the remote while the channels were changing and they both were laughing louder than they had that night. Arella rolled over which caused them to fall into the floor making a loud thud and then Arella almost had the remote and then got it. She straddled John to make sure he wouldn't get up then stood up and jumped in the air. "I GOT IT!" Just then Meg, NightStar, Marí, and Crow was in the doorway that connected the common room to the rest of the tower and Meg was in front standing with an annoyed look and her arms crossed, they were still in their night clothes. John stood up with Arella and Meg pinched her forehead in annoyance.
"John, when it was your duty to watch her, I didn't mean for you to play with her and then make so much noise!" Meg said and John smiled sheepishly.
"Well, heh, you can't trust me, I like playin around!" John said, chuckling.
"Obviously, just go to sleep, the both of you! You have training tomorrow, Arella, so that you can control your powers more, goodnight," Meg said and the rest of the Titans went to sleep and Arella and John said goodnight to each other before going their separate ways. Arella to the medical wing and then John to his respective room.
