Chapter 9
*Hides behind McGonagall 'cause she's not in this book*
Sorry that I left. I needed a break.
Now I want to complete this book... So... Here it is!

"Harry! You're doing it wrong, idiot. Hold the other side" 12-year old ginny shouted at her best friend as they were trying to build a camp.
"I'm trying. Why the heck are you taller than me? On the count of three, grab the other end and raise it, okay?" He instructed. After another hour, it's done. Well, they didn't precisely stay in the camp as they were busy wandering around, playing games.
"Do you think they'd be any animals out here?" Ginny asked as they sat in front of a blazing campfire.
Harry glared at her. "No. They won't be any animals here."
Ginny gave him a disbelief look.
"And even they are any...I promise I'd protect you from this" harry smiled at her and squeezed her hands.
Ginny smiled back. "I like it in here...we should bring ron. Why didn't he come today?"
Harry looked down at the ground. The truth is, he didn't really ask Ron to go, maybe because he only wanted to spend time with ginny. It's not like he doesn't like Ron or something--it's clear he likes ginny more. "He said he had something to do" he lied. He couldn't just tell her the truth.
"Oh! Wonder what's that important. Anyway, I heard from Lisa that you beat up Christian. Is that true, Harry?" She wriggled those eyebrows showing that she was serious.
Harry did---for a reason and he doesn't regret that. That brat Christian was hitting on ginny and he didn't like it. He could see that ginny was uncomfortable too. "I did. Ginny, I'm sorry. I didn't beat him that hard. I know you don't like when I--"
Ginny hugged him. And harry almost fell from the pressure--probably wasn't expecting that. "Thanks. He really was being a pain. Actually, I thought of complaining to you"
"You don't have to ask me, gin. I'll look out for you all the time. Even in the future, I'll always be here for you."
"Promise that you won't leave me for any good-looking girl?" Ginny pouted.
"Can't think of someone more good-looking than you" he answered.
Ginny tried not to blush but ultimately failed. "Promise that no one would ever come between us? That I'd always be your priority?"
Harry nodded enthusiastically "I promise. You promise too?"
"Of course. I don't like anyone more than you anyway"
"What if Theo comes in our way?"
"Who?"
"Theo? That French guy you seem so interested in?"
"I don't understand, Harry. Who's Theo?"
"....."
"Harry?"
"Harry?"
"Harry? Wake up! We're going to be late for school." Harry wiggled around, rubbing his eyes. Dream, it's a fucking dream. Harry thought. That wasn't just a dream. It's a memory from their past, it's weird how Harry had to dream about it after all these years.
"We have to get back home and then school. We don't have time, hurry up!" Ginny yelled.
"You are not 12 anymore" Harry mumbled.
"What?" Ginny asked looking at him sharply.
"No---Nothing" harry then recognised they were still near the mountainside.
"Okay, C'mon, now. You should drop me to school. I've got to tell you something important" she winked making harry's heart feel warm all of a sudden. And Harry stupidly thought...maybe...just maybe she had the same dream--that she remembered their promise.
****
"Harry, you ready?" Asked ginny peeking from the door.
"Gin? Come inside love" inferred James as he saw ginny standing by the door.
"No, I was actually waiting for harry. We are going to be late if he takes so long to get ready. I mean--even I don't take as long as he does, what does he--"
"Okay okay, quit complaining, gin. I'm here"
The ride was unexpectedly quiet. Harry could hear ginny's rapidly tapping fingers, he knows that she does when she's nervous, but there's no reason to be nervous when he's around or does this have to do with something she wanted to say. Also, his mind goes back to the dream, when Ginny has her attention only for him.
"Theo asked me on a date" Ginny blurted out, her voice is in a rush and filled with guilt.
That startled harry, he didn't recognise that he had ungripped the steering--not until he heard a loud squeak from ginny as they were about to hit a car that passed by. He immediately took hold of the steering and missed hitting the car in inches.
"Harry!" Ginny squealed.
"Sorry, sorry" he was out of breath, his mind is racing and heartfelt heavy all of a sudden. He wished what he heard a few seconds back was not real and he was imagining things.
"You okay?" He felt ginny's hand on his shoulder. He flinches, making ginny gasp a bit and bringing back her hand to her side.
"What did you say?" Harry's voice is merely a whisper.
"Maybe we should talk about it later" ginny dismisses with a tight smile.
"No, gin please, tell me" he grabbed her hand and squeezed it in assurance.
Ginny sighed. She knows this is gonna end up bad. "Theo asked me out...last night when you all already slept...we were talking and he...just...umm"
"Oh" was all Harry said. Now, he remembered seeing Ginny and Theo kiss just before he fell asleep. But he thought he was having a nightmare--the nightmare came out true.
"And you said?" He asked again.
He heard her sigh again, with more effort this time. "Yes"
He wanted to cry...so bad. It's like his heart is filled with tears and he had to let them out before it explodes. He can't do that in front of ginny. He didn't want her to know that he was in pain...because of her. So, he didn't waste time saying "that's great, gin. I'm happy for you" he stretched his lips a bit too big making them look more fake and the pain in his eyes is evident.
"Harry" she whined. "Maybe I'll just say no. This wouldn't work"
Harry almost agreed. He wanted to scream a huge 'Yes' but he knows--he knows ginny's waiting for him to disagree with her so he did. "No gin, I know, if you don't like him that much you wouldn't have said yes. You should give it a go. Remember I already said those words?"
She nodded, yes. "I like him" she confessed. Harry just pretended that he didn't hear that. "But, I'm afraid…so afraid that I'll lose you, harry. No matter how much you try to act, it's obvious you don't like Theo. If going out with him would bring barriers between us--I--don't know--"
"Hey" he squeezed her hand again. "You won't lose me because I'm never letting you go, okay?" Harry promised as he parked the car.
"Neither will I" she kissed his hand that was holding her. He ignored the comfort he felt when she did that. He pecked her forehead heading inside the school.
----------
"We're late for the first class" ginny informed scanning the empty halls.
"I wasn't planning on going to the class anyway" Harry murmured.
"Oh! Then we can go to the canteen, get something to eat?" She offered. Harry glanced at her, ginny never ask him anything, she just insists. He felt like there was a wall raising in between them. He does want to be with her, but not now--not when he's unsure about his feelings. He has a lot of questions in his head that he needs to sort out first.
"Peter sent a text that he wanted to chat about something. I'll go, yeah? See you later" he lied with a gulp. He hates lying to her. He leaves but not before noticing the pained expression ginny had.
The day was a blur, Harry left school in the middle. He saw Ginny and Theo holding hands while walking in the halls, he wasn't having it so he stormed out of the school. He didn't see Hermione and Ron anywhere which he's grateful for.
"Sirius" he breathed knocking on his door.
Sirius instantly opened the door welcoming him with a bright smile. As he entered he noticed Sirius was playing Mortal Kombat which usually he and ginny plays.
"Kid, you okay?" Sirius asked concern filled eyes.
"You were right" harry blurted falling on Sirius's bed.
"Am I not always? What is it this time?"
Harry didn't answer, his eyes fixated on the ground.
"Is it ginny?" Sirius guessed and he knows he was right.
"Theo asked her on a date and she said yes" Sirius heard sniffles. Harry didn't want to cry but the only person he could cry to in front of is Sirius.
"I--'m sorry, Harry" Sirius sat next to him.
"I like her more than as a best friend, Sirius. I didn't understand until I realise I'm not the one she wants to be with. Am I being selfish?"
"Kind of" Sirius admitted. "You don't have the right to ask her to spend her time with you when she has a boyfriend."
"You weren't helping at all. Also, Theo's not her boyfriend, it's just a date and no one knows if that'll work"
"Okay, Mr Optimistic. Do you think ginny will miss you if you avoid her?"
"Why would I avoid her?" Harry asked but that's what he's been doing since the morning.
"Answer the question idiot"
"I don't know...maybe"
"Good. Let's do that" sirius said with a mischievous grin.
