Annabeth sat on her bed doing homework when her phone beeped. She grabbed it still humming to the music she had playing. Thalia had messaged her.

Thals: What up Annie?

Annabeth: First, don't call me Annie. Second, homework why?

Thals: Ugh homework. Hey why don't you meet me at the park?

Annabeth: Fine. Give me a minute.

Annabeth grumbled as she finished her math. She had already changed into pjs so she had to get dressed. She chose a navy blue tank top under a white cardigan with white jeans. After pulling her hair back she headed out.

The park was a two minute walk away from her house so she just walked. Annabeth saw Thalia was already there, sat at the fountain. Annabeth jogged over and sat down. "Hey Annie." Thalia smirked and hugged the blonde. Thalia wore her regular jacket and ripped jeans but she wore a Set It Off T-shirt. Annabeth smiled and hugged her back.

"So what's up?" Annabeth kicked her feet while looking at her friend. In the distant she could hear kids playing.

"I just wanted to talk." Thalia looked off to where a group of kids were running around. "I um... I just feel like with everything going on we never slow down and talk ya know?" Thalia sounded so honest that Annabeth cocked her head.

"I guess. So what's going on?" Annabeth was worried for her punk friend.

"I just... I have the opportunity to go stay with Jason." Thalia wouldn't meet Annabeth's eyes. "My parents are going to pay for me to go out there and I'll stay with Jason and his parents. I'll do the rest of this year and collage there." Thalia bit her lip.

Annabeth let this sink in. She was very happy for her best friend. But she was very sad as well. But Annabeth focused on being happy. "That's great! You and Jason can finally spend time together! When do you leave?"

"Tomorrow. I was just told." Thalia looked Annabeth over warily. Like she wasn't sure if she was really okay with this. "You're okay with this?"

"Listen." Annabeth faced Thalia and grabbed her hands. "You and your brother need to be together. There is nothing wrong with you going. As long as you promise to not forget me and to call at least once a week." Annabeth smiled and Thalia smiled back. The two girls hugged.

After a while Annabeth headed home. She was walking and wiping her eyes. She kept cursing herself as she made her way into her home. Once she closed the door she paused and crumpled to the floor. Silent tears streamed down her face as her hand covered her mouth.

Thalia was leaving. The one person who understood her. Yes Grover was still here but it wasn't the same. They were friends but Annabeth and Thalia were best friends. Thalia was there for Annabeth when her own father wasn't.

Annabeth felt alone. She was shaking now. She was going to be left alone forever. She wasn't mad at Thalia or Jason she was just sad.

Thalia was going to go home to her brother. And Annabeth was trapped in her home.

Annabeth spent the night eating ice-cream and watching Disney movies.
