Dinner With His Mom

Annabeth bit her lip as she knocked on the door. She hadn't ever been to Percy's house, he just came over to her place. Why was she so nervous to meet his mother? She had heard enough about her to know she was amazing, why was this such a big deal?

Because you like him.

Yeah but he's been over to the house.

But this woman means the world to him and you want her to like you.

True.

Annabeth's debate with herself ended as the door opened. Percy stood in the door way. He had a white t-shirt on that did nothing to hide his muscles and some tight fitting skinny jeans. Good god, what was this boy trying to do to her?

She smiled as he grinned at her.

"Come on in Wise Girl." He ushered her in with a hand on the small of her back. "Mom is setting up the table, Paul is around here somewhere." Paul was Percy's stepdad, and an English teacher at their school.

And indeed Paul popped his head out from around the corner. He wore his usual of a brown jacket with a polo shirt and blue jeans. "Hello there Annabeth! It's wonderful to see you." He smiled at the blonde as he tilted his head to the side. Paul had salt and pepper hair that shifted with the movement.

"Nice to see you too, Mr. Blofis." Ever the prodigy student.

"Oh none of that, call me Paul." He rolled his eyes as he faked a sigh. "Let's eat, shall we?" Paul lead them into the dinning room where a pretty woman was waiting.

She had kind blue eyes and brown hair that fell down her back. She wore a simple yet pretty blue top with black pants. She didn't look her age with the twinkle in her eyes and her smile. Sally, Percy's mom. "Welcome Dear, I'm so happy to meet you!" The woman wrapped Annabeth up in a tight hug, Annabeth hugged back. The smell of cookies wrapped around her as she did.

They all sat down and dished out spaghetti and salad with garlic bread.

The conversation was light and easy. "I've been dying to meet you Annabeth." Sally remarked and went on at Annabeth's look. "For the first time my son had other places to go besides school and swimming." Percy blushed as he cast a glance at his mother. "Oh don't you start Percy, you know it's true." She teased.

"He is a homebody isn't he." Annabeth joined in the teasing of Percy as she took a sip of her water.

"Certainly." Sally smiled as she leaned in on her hand. "I'm guessing all he ever wants to do is watch movies and eat cookies?" Sally winked as she grinned.

"Yep!" Annabeth chirped as Percy sank into his chair. "His first time over we made cookies, he pulled out blue food coloring, he explain it's something you guys do. Ever since then I knew that he was a mama's boy." Annabeth poked Percy's side and he just swatted her away.

"You're not much better Wise Girl, you never want to leave your house." He snapped back. Annabeth raised an eyebrow in challenge. "Fuzzy socks, blanket, and a good book and you're set for a whole day."

"Yes, that may be, but at least I do other things as well." Annabeth cut off Percy's retort. "Swimming doesn't count Seaweed Brain." Percy and her glared at each other until giggling broke their silent battle of wills.

"Aww, you two are too cute!" Sally giggled as she covered her mouth with her hand. "But in all reality I am very glad that you've come along Annabeth. His grades have been better than ever, Paul tells me you're an honors student."

"Yes Ma'am." Annabeth smiled. "And yes we have been doing our homework together." Annabeth rolled her eyes signaling she did most of the work.

"Hey!" Percy protested. "I catch on, I've been doing well on tests too." Percy stuck out his tongue and Annabeth did the same. Annabeth had taken off Percy's hoodie when she came inside, so she pulled the selves of her cardigan down over her hands as she teased Percy about different things.

Finally dinner was over and the group made their way into the living room. Sally and Paul sat on the couch and Annabeth and Percy sat on the loveseat. She had to admit this was going really well. Percy threw an arm over Annabeth's shoulders and she didn't even think about it as she leaned in. Didn't think about the two pairs of eyes watching them as they watched a movie.

It was time for Annabeth to go home and Percy went to grab her jacket for her. Sally smiled as she hugged Annabeth again. "And just so you know, he's clingy." Sally teased. Annabeth rolled her eyes and huffed a breath.

"You're telling me!" Annabeth shared a grin with Percy's mom. When Percy walked in he asked what they were up to, they only grinned again.

Percy walked Annabeth to her car.

Annabeth turned to him as she leaned on her car door, her keys hung from her fingers. "Tonight was so much fun, thank you for inviting me over Percy." And she meant it. Every word.

Percy grinned as he ran a hand through his hair, his leather jacket back on. "Thanks for coming over. My mom seems to love you, Paul too." He teased as he nudged her foot with his own. "You should come over more often, not just for dinner but anytime. We can't just keep hanging out at your house all the time." Percy smiled.

"I would love that." Annabeth grinned.

She hugged Percy bye before hopping into her car and going home. She couldn't help the squeal that fought it's way out of her as she turned off his street. Nor could she help jumping up and down when she was inside her house.

Or the laying in her bed with a goofy grin on her face as she thought about the boy that seemed to have stolen her ability to think about anything else.
