Chapter Seven 

to protect you 

3rd person pov

she knew that her siblings would be stupid enough to be at the party and not stay at home and lock the doors and windows. she knew that they wanted some normal things in their life and this was one of them but she knew how this could end and she was horrified for them. 

so she walked into the house not caring if she got stares or people being confused. she was there for one reason and one reason only, chad and Mindy. her family, they were hers to protect and she would do just that. 

"kai? you came?" amber asked and kai turned to the girl who was staring at her. she nodded and amber handed her a cup but she shook her head 

"I don't drink, not my thing" she said and she walked into the kitchen seeing her brother and she leaned against the wall watching him. 

"to wes, beautiful son of a bitch" chad said and he took a shot 

"that's cute" kai said and she walked over to him and his head shot up to her. 

"heyyyy sis" he spoke and she shook her head as she walked over and hugged him. he sighed and hugged her back. 

"what do you think you're doing?" she asked 

"kai please don't scold me right now, this is how I mourn and distract myself from the looming spector of death" he told her 

"hey we're low on beer, oh kai heyyyy" mindy said to amber before she noticed her older sister standing right there and she sighed. 

"you two are helpless" she groaned 

"don't tell mom" chad begged 

"what are you doing here anyway kai?" mindy asked and kai snapped her head to her with a raised eyebrow 

"I'm here to protect you from as chad said, the looming spector of death" she stated and Mindy sighed. 

"kai we're fine" she exclaimed 

"yeah well I'm not and I'm not gonna be while you two 18 year olds are standing here, underage drinking, thinking this is okay. i wont tell mom" she said 

"you did this shit too" amber said and kai shook her head 

"I didn't actually, I was too focused on school and getting into college that drugs and alcohol didn't matter to me. nothing mattered as much as school" she stated 

"this is boring, I'm gonna got get the alcohol" amber said and she walked off but she watched mindy follow her and she sighed. 

"shes stupid sometimes" she exclaimed and she looked at chad. he stared at her and she scoffed, she ran a hand over her braids and shook her head before she waited for mindy and amber. 

she then watched chad walk away and go into the living room with liv. she leaned against the wall, and then she saw mindy. she waited and waited and waited for something or anything. 

"this is boring. this is stupid, I shouldn't be here" she exclaimed and then she looked at chad and Mindy 

she heard her phone and she picked it up but she ignored it as she walked into the living room and sat down next to mindy as they began to watch stab. 

"are you two seriously watching a movie about our uncles death?" he asked them as he got up and put his letterman on.

"It calms me down, I'm gonna do some weed and hang out with francis here, chad don't go after her" she told him 

"well shes not answering me soooo" he said and kai turned to him 

"at least bring some kind of weapon with you" kai stated and he grabbed a random decoration as he walked out and she stared at him. she pinched the space between her eyebrows before she turned to Mindy, and then looked back at Chad

"chad be safe out there" she called as he walked off and she watched francis go over to sit next to mindy and she shook her head in annoyance. she knew what she had to do and she knew that mindy was safe with francis but chad wasn't safe outside alone so she did what any older sister in fear and worry would do and she went after him. 

"chad, hey where are you?" she asked and she heard him let out a yell and she ran to find him but she couldn't; she ran after him faster and she saw a trail of blood leading to somewhere. She didn't know if the blood was his or livs, or the killers, but something told her that she had to follow It. She watched it lead somewhere and she kept following it only to end at a dead end and turn back around, she hears a beeping noise but she ignored that. 

"chad, chad, where are you?" she asked and she ran but she was grabbed and felt someone try to stab her but she grabbed her knife from her pocket as she stabbed their hand and then she swung her elbow back as she hit the person in the head and she then dropped kicked him and she went after chad but she didn't find him so she went back to the same spot and found him on the ground 

"no , no, no, no, chad come on" she said and she grabbed him. she held him close to her and grabbed her phone to call 911, he laid in her arms and she watched him as closely as she could 

when they answered, she gave them her location and she watched chad take a few deep breaths. she got in the ambulance with him but she knew one thing 

she failed to protect him and what would she do now?
