Chapter Six 

he died doing the one thing he knew he should be doing

3rd person pov 

the cops had been called and so had everyone else, the sun was rising and they saw gale. kai stopped the women and shook her head as she hugged her and gale hugged her back. they were both grieving someone and it hurt them. they were transformed to a different hospital as tara was moved. 

"im sorry, i didn't know him well but he helped me" sam told gale 

"thats what he did. he helped people. i should've stopped him" gale said and kai shook her head as she sat down next to her 

"if you had, my sister would be dead" sam told her 

"samantha, your sisters awake" the nurse called to sam and she turned to kai 

"go, i'll be here" kai told her and she walked off and away from them. 

"did you know him?" gale asked her 

"he was like my uncle, when i lost randy i didn't have anyone to look up to but dewey took a space in my heart that couldn't be filled anymore. he was someone i looked up to, so yes i did know him. i know that he died doing the one thing he knew he should be doing" she stated and gale smiled at her sadly 

"im sorry you had to lose him and randy" gale told her and she sighed. 

"me too, this whole thing is stupid" she exclaimed 

"i agree" gale told her and then they heard a voice 

"gale" they both looked up to see sidney prescott standing in front of them

"sidney" gale said and she got up 

"i came as soon as i heard, im so sorry" sidney said and the two women hugged each other. 

"you shouldn't be here" gale said to sid

"you shouldn't be here either" sidney retorted 

"mark and the kids are okay?" gale asked 

"yeah, theyre safe for now. im here to make sure of that, come here" sidney said and then she looked at kai who was sat there. 

"kai?" she asked and she smiled at her as she got up and hugged her. sidney held the girl and sighed. she missed her and the way she would handle things, sidney was like her aunt and she would do anything for the girl

"youve grown so much" she told her with a laugh and kai smiled at the women softly and sighed. 

"i know, time flys when you're trying to survive" kai told her and she nodded in agreement. the two women were closer then anyone would believe. it was shocking to know that sidney cared so much about a girl she watched grow up but she did and she was glad to see her there. 

"how are you doing?" sidney asked and kai shrugged as her hand wrapped around sams and they turned to each other. richie stared at their hands and he scoffed but they didn't let go of each other. 

"we'll bring the car around"richie told them and he walked out leaving sam, kai and tara with the women. 

"I hope you're okay" sidney told tara who smiled at the women softly and kai sighed sadly. 

"listen I'm sorry..." sam began but sidney interrupted her 

"you're billys daughter" sidney stated and sam nodded 

"yeah, I'm his daughter. I'm sorry if that's weird for you" sam told the women and kai sighed as she looked at tara who looked at the ground and she rubbed the girls shoulder in solidarity. 

"no, no. I've been through this, a lot. you want to talk?" sidney asked them and she looked at kai. 

"I appreciate it and I'm really sorry about dewey but I'm taking my sister away from all of this" sam said and she walked out. kai looked at gale and they both sighed 

"she pushes people away" kai stated 

"remind you of someone?" gale asked in reference to herself and even though kai wanted to say no , she nodded and gale rubbed her shoulder before they looked out the window at sam and sidney. they began to follow after them. 

"hey watch your tone new girl. you know how they always say it goes back to the original, here's the original" gale stated and kai sighed. she couldn't help but wonder if the two women ever had a thing but that may just be her mind wondering. 

" I just want your help, because you're wrong this is your life now which means that whoever this is is gonna keep coming for you" sid exclaimed

"so?" sam asked 

"so I want you to help us kill him" sidney spoke and kai rubbed her hand over her forehead 

"wait kai how do you come into all of this?" gale asked 

"I'm a detective in training, my brother and sister chad and Mindy are being attacked too and they called me for help" she spoke and then sam asked 

"you want me to help you and the host of morning show commit murder?" sam asked 

"yeah" 

"correct" 

"and I'm what in this scenario? the bait, the helpless victim" sam questioned 

"if the shoe fits" gale spoke 

"you sure wore yours" kai said due to the fact that she was treating sam like a girl who wasn't the daughter of a psycho killer. 

"you're not helpless sam. he killed your friend and he killed ours and I have kids which means I won't sleep until he's in the ground" sidney exclaimed 

"look I'm sorry about what this has done to your lives but no matter what you or the killer or what anyone says.  this isn't my story" sam said and richie pulled up in the car 

"alright lets get the fuck out of town huh?" he said 

"sorry, that's my boyfriend richie" sam said 

"yeah he's an idiot" kai stated and gale made eye contact with her

"sam" sidney said 

"no, we're leaving, that's the only way I can protect tara" sam said and she got in the car 

" well good luck" 

"yeah you too" sam said and they turned to kai 

"you're staying?" sidney asked 

"I have too, I'm protecting my family" she said and she went to her car leaving sid and gale alone together. 

she just didn't trust richie with sam and tara and she didn't know what to do.
