Chapter Seventeen 

me and kai sort of have a thing going on

3rd person pov 

when they got back to the house later that night, kai watched chad and tara in the kitchen together and she leaned against the wall as she watched them and sighed. 

"why didn't you tell me you were working with kirby on this?" sam asked and kai jumped 

"I didn't know how to, I was just supposed to be working on the case but yet here I am" she exclaimed and sam nodded her head. she sighed and laid her head on her shoulder and then looked at chad and tara 

"I trust you kai, I just thought that you would've told me this sort of thing" sam said and kai sighed 

"I know Im sorry" she spoke and sam nodded. 

"will you two just make out already?" mindy said to tara and chad making kai laugh and sam did too. sam then went to get blankets for anika and when she got them, she walked over and put them down as mindy called to her 

"here you go" they heard sam say to anika 

"sam? we do not have to stay here" mindy told her

"well, stood bad. i insist. safety in numbers" sam told her and kai nodded in agreement with the women 

"this will be so fun. A little slumber party with the fabulous five?" he said and kai turned to him with a look in her eyes that almost made him cower but he didn't and he wouldn't. 

"the fabulous five?" she asked

"did you just give us a nickname?" tara questioned

" I sure did. We've been through a lot together and it's a pretty cool nickname." he said

"that's debatable" sam said

"that's extremely debatable" tara agreed

"also very basic" kai suggested

"you can't just give yourself a nickname Dingus" mindy told him

"of course I can then cause I just did. Fabulous five, up top!" he said and he held his hand up but mindy shot it and he turned to tara

"down low"

"get that away from me" she stated

" please, for the love of god" chad asked sam and then he looked at kai

"kai, my lovely beautiful kind--" he said 

"buttering me up never worked chad, you know this" she told him and the others all laughed with her 

"I would like a little more respect and support from my fellow members of the fabulous five" he said and then they heard anika

"guys what the hell?" anika said and they walked into the living room as they watched the news and kai held sam hand as they watched the news and sam grabbed the remote as she turned it off. she walked back into the kitchen and tara followed her in. the others stood in the living room before they decided to walk in

"I know you're not a fan of the way I've been handling things and that I've been giving you a really hard time. But I can say that none of us can relate to what you experiencing. And I'm really ,really sorry that you have to do that alone" tara said

"it's not your fault and I know I shouldn't care what people think. It just sucks being this hated." she said and chad spoke up

"hey. hey. Just a reminder., not a single person in this room hates you. OK? We have all been through some really fucked up stuff, and we are coping with it differently. but, I mean, we moved here together, for one specific reason. We are a team" chad told them and kai looked at mindy and chad with a smile

"we are the fabulous fucking five" kai stated

"thank you very much" chad said to her

"god I hated that" she said and tara looked at her

"you said it" she spoke  and kai nodded at the girl even though she was still mad at her 

"its the fabulous five" he said

"say it" mindy said

"no, I'm not saying it I mean yes we are a team but" tara exclaimed

"it's got a nice ring to it." chad said 

"me and kai sort of have a thing going on" sam said and kai froze. she didn't even think that they had a thing but now that sam said it was out there

"I fucking knew it!" tara said

"boom!" mindy said

"good" chad told her

"I knew it from the day you had that hickey" mindy said and they all laughed together. it was good to see sam and kai so happy.

"I feel like we should high-five or something" tara said

"the fabulous five, high five" chad said

"you are not letting that go" kai exclaimed and he shook his head with a laugh.

"don't call it that, but we'll do the high five" tara exclaimed and they intertwined their hands together. 

"hey so what are your intentions?" tara said jokingly to kai and they all laughed before they heard quinn and her boyfriend moaning in the room. chad turned to tara with a smile on his face and they all began to laugh at them.

"getting it too okay" mindy said and they all heard their phones go off. they grabbed them and that's when they saw a picture of quinn being attacked and they ran to the living room. kai stood next to sam as they all looked at the door and then mindy spoke up

"run" mindy said and they all began to run away from him. kai felt her arm being stabbed and she held her arm as she let out a cry but she ignored it and turned to see that Mindy got stabbed and when anika went to help her, she got choked and lifted to the wall where he stabbed her and twisted the knife. that's when sam and kai ran to the kitchen to see that they had no knifes and they turned to each other. chad and tara had escaped the apartment. 

sam grabbed the knife box and she ran out as she hit him on the head with it and they all ran to quinns room locking the door. kai looked at mindy whos arm was cut and then at anikas. then the other door 

"mindy. the bathroom door. hurry" sam said and Mindy went to close it but there he was. she ran back him and they put the dresser in front of it 

"Oh fuck" mindy said and they saw danny in the window across the apartment complex

"don't worry, i got you" he told them and he stretched a ladder across to them 

"are you fucking kidding me?" sam asked 

"you have a better idea?" he asked them 

"nope, not at all" kai stated and they helped him reach the ladder across 

"you have to come one at a time" he told them 

"you two go first. mindy!" sam called and kai turned to her sister in fear. 

"what? no. someone needs to hold the door. ill send anika next. go!" mindyb said and sam walked across slowly, when she finally got over. she turned to kai and she reached her hand out 

"go! k! go" mindy told her and kai nodded as she began to go across and then when she got across it was now mindys turn and they helped her. in the end, it was anikas turn and that's where it all went horribly. 

he pushed his way through the door and now stood behind anika in the room. they stared at him 

"anika, you need to move now" kai told her and he began to mess with the ladder. he turned it just right and she fell to the ground. they stared and kai had one thought

what would they do without anika around now?
