Chapter Fifteen 

not now, not ever

3rd person pov 

when they got back to the apartment, sam and kai held each others hands as they walked into the living room and stood next to each other. they turned to the tv when they heard the news, kai held her hand as they stared. 

"that's the chode that's from our film studies class, the one obsessed with argento" mindy exclaimed and then they heard ghostface

"pack a bag, we leave in ten" sam said to tara and kai looked at sam waiting to see if she was serious or not but it was clear that she was. 

"sam. wait sam!" tara called as she stood and walked after her 

"we're getting out of the city" sam told her and kai stared. 

"no are you serious? sam? hold on, no wait lets talk about it for a second. cause this might not have anything to do with us" tara fought 

"are you serious?" sam asked 

"its a big city. its Halloween , everybodies wearing masks, you dont know" tara stated 

"tara, this isn't a coincidence. you knew him, chad, mindy back me up. hell kai help me here" sam called  

"it is a little bit" chad said 

"close to home" mindy stated 

"I gotta agree with them tara" kai spoke and tara scoffed as she turned to her 

"yeah well your head is always up her ass so I'm not shocked" she said and sam turned to kai who scoffed and shook her head. kai wanted to be a bitch but she didn't for the sake of everyone else. 

"see?" sam said bringing the conversation away from kai 

"quinn, your dads a cop, right? can you call him and find out whats going on? before you make the unilateral decision to abandon my college education and flee the fucking state" tara told sam 

"I'm calling him now" quinn spoke and then they heard a phone ring. all of them turned to it and kai looked at her siblings 

"why did everyone just freak out when her phone rang?" ethan asked 

"you got to keep up, my dude" anika told ethan and kai nodded 

"have you not been paying attention to anything at all new boy? phone calls either mean death, murderer or happy yeepee and right now its not the last one" kai told ethan and he stared at her. 

"good to know" he told her and she nodded in understanding. she wasn't trying to be mean but she knew that ethan was the new wes in some sort of way and she hated it. wes was like her child and she would have done anything to protect him and now that he was gone she couldn't save him. she couldn't protect him anymore and it hurt her head to think about. the idea of it all was too much to handle. she didn't hate ethan but she knew what he meant to everyone now and she wouldn't let him replace wes. not now, not ever. 

that was when quinn spoke up and looked at sam with a worried look on her face 

"sam. my dad wants to talk to you" quinn told sam and she handed the phone to her. 

"Mr. bailey. hi" sam said and kai ran a hand through her hair as she stared at the ceiling and then heard her phone rang. she looked at sam and then chad and Mindy before she looked at her phone and saw that it was kirby 

"I have to take this" she exclaimed and she walked off and away not noticing the way sam and quinn watched her walk away. she walked into the bathroom as she closed the door and answered the call 

"kirby, hey , whats up?" she asked and kirby sighed 

"I'm sure that officer bailey just called sam and they're heading to the station but I need you down here too. they found something on the scene and it has to do with you guys. if there is a way for you to break the case then I want you to be the one to do it. come down here please" kirby told her and kai seethed only they will find out or maybe they never will. 

"thanks kirby, ill try to be down there as soon as I can. I'm sure they're headed that way right now. are you at the station or your office?" she asked 

" my office, they have some sort of vendetta against me and how I handle my cases. meet me here as soon as possible. this is looking really bad for you guys and they're gonna start to investigate all of you if you don't have alibis" kirby told her and she nodded as she walked out of the bathroom and went to put her shoes on. 

that's when she saw that sam and tara were gone and she knew that they went to the station. she looked at the others and they looked at her 

"where are you going?" quinn asked and kai turned to her with a look on her face. she pulled her jacket on and turned to mindy and chad 

"if you need me, call me. ill be here with you no matter what and if anything happens, don't you dare forget to call me. be safe" she told them and they nodded. she looked at anika, then ethan and then quinn. 

"you guys be safe too. nothing can happen to you guys and I need you to be safe" she exclaimed and they nodded. she walked out of the apartment and headed to her office. 

she didn't know what to expect.
