"Gi! Come back here!"
"No!" Yoongi screamed, a pout sitting on his dolly lips. His short, chubby legs proceeded running around the playground, trying to place as much distance as possible between him and his best friend.
"Yoongiii!" Hoseok whined, chasing after the boy with the last ounce of energy he had. His lungs were about ready to fail him and they would have if he didn't decide to sprint faster.
The little brunet eventually caught up to the shorter boy, tackling him to the ground. Yoongi whined, a cry escaping his mouth as they both fell on the rubbery surface. It wasn't like they fell on a bunch of wood chips (which had actually happened many times in the past due to all the old parks Yoongi's mom would let them play in) but the older munchkin just wanted to be dramatic for the sake of making the other feel bad.
"Oh, no! Are you hurt, Gi?" Hoseok asked in concern, getting off of his best friend and pulling them both on their bums.
Yoongi sat with his small arms crossed, a petty 'hmph' was his only response.
"Why are you mad at me?" Hoseok questioned, feeling dejected. His big, puppy eyes visibly drooped when the shorter boy scowled cutely. The younger didn't know what he did wrong but he really hoped Yoongi would let him fix it.
"You ate my last chocolate bar, Seokie!" The older kindergartener whined, throwing a small tantrum with his tiny fists repeatedly punching the ground by his side out if annoyance.
"You said I could have it!"
"No! I said you could have some!" Yoongi corrected, scrambling back on his two itty-bitty feet and flicking his best friend's forehead.
"I'm sorry." Hoseok apologized, weakly rubbing his forehead with his gaze fixated on the floor.
The older released another 'hmph' before running back into the classroom where his teacher was waiting to dismiss him and his classmates. Hoseok's eyes watered as he walked over to his own classroom with the rest of his fellow first-year kindergarteners. Yoongi was a second-year kindergartener but the younger could still picture the annoyed pout on his best friend's face even if they weren't in the same room.
Yoongi was upset and it was Hoseok's fault.
While the younger munchkin quietly waited for someone to pick him up, the other boy ran out of his classroom once he caught sight of his mother. She smiled lovingly when he stretched his short arms out and made grabby hands to indicate that he didn't want to be on his own feet.
"Missed me, little gummie?" She asked teasingly, voice soft as she carried him in her arms. He nodded against her shoulder, clutching her shirt. "What's wrong? Did you and Seokie get in a fight again?"
Her son stayed silent, hiding his face against her neck.
"Hey, talk to me. What happened?" She soothingly ran her slender fingers through his fluffy locks while sending bright smiles and short goodbyes toward other parents leaving the room.
"Seokie ate my last chocolate bar." Yoongi mumbled almost inaudibly but his mom was used to his tendency to speak quieter when he was upset.
The woman couldn't hold in the fond giggle that managed to escape her lips after listening to her son's words. "Little gummie, it's not the end of the world. We can always buy more."
"But still!" The boy protested even if it was the best argument he could make. His mind just couldn't come up with a more reasonable one at that moment.
"You shouldn't be greedy, Yoongi. Sharing is caring. Don't you love Seokie?" She questioned, earning a weak nod from her son. "Then sharing your blessings shouldn't hurt. It's just a chocolate bar, little gummie."
Yoongi nodded in defeat. He knew his mom was right.
The woman suddenly felt a soft tug on her skirt. She looked down, seeing none other than her little munchkin's best friend, Hoseok Jung. His eyes were red, chubby cheeks drenched in guilt-filled tears.
"Hi, Hoseokie." She greeted warmly, ruffling his poofy, brown hair.
"H-hi, Ms.Gi's mom." Hoseok sniffled, wiping his nose with his sleeve.
"Why are you crying, baby?" She squatted down and wiped the little boy's face with her thumb. Yoongi was still snuggled up against her chest but his eyes were casted down on his best friend.
"I-I ate Gi's c-chocolate bar and— and now h-he hates me!" The younger kindergartner started crying again and Yoongi couldn't take it this time. He wiggled himself out of his mother's arms and immediately pulled his best friend in a hug.
He felt his own tears prickling past his lashes. "D-don't cry, Seokie!"
"I'm s-sorry!" Hoseok sobbed an apology, very clearly referring to the chocolate bar.
"It's okay. It's just a chocolate bar." Yoongi assured.
A lot of things were easier as a kid.
For instance: sharing.
'Sharing is caring' was a motto Yoongi lived by as a child due to his kind-hearted mother. But as he grew up, he learned that it could get a lot more difficult to stick by those words.
No one ever told him that caring could hurt.
He wished his mother never hid that reality from him because life wasn't just a piece of chocolate bar.
It was a lot more complicated than that.
Especially when no one told him that sharing blessings could drain him of his own.

ROTC:
12/22/20
Christmas is in a few days (for those of you that are celebrating much like me) and honestly, this whole pandemic kind of drained my holiday spirits for it this year. It just doesn't seem like a holiday when there aren't any major gatherings in my family.
I usually exchange gifts with my friends during the last week of school but since our classes are online, I just dropped off my gifts at their houses without even getting to hug them.
To be honest, the older I get, the less excitement the holidays bring me. Christmas was a lot more fun as a kid.
What do you guys think? (It doesn't even have to be about Christmas because I know a lot of you don't celebrate it. It can just be the holidays in general)
