Chapter 20
Plan's POV
I noticed from my bedroom window which was on the second level of our house, that Mean also stepped out of his car after P'Nat stepped out of it.
I wondered where they came from and how they ended up in each other's company.
P'Nat must have invited Mean for tea because I saw both of them go through the gate. It was already close to seven in the evening, so either they already had dinner together or P'Nat had invited him inside the house to have dinner.
I quickly pushed my door shut and locked it. I did not want P'Nat coming to ask me to meet with Mean. If she had invited him inside the house for dinner or tea, that was her problem. She had to be the one to entertain Mean.
In less than a minute I could hear P'Nat's footsteps going up the stairs and then stopping in front of my door.
"Plan, are you in there?" she called from outside the door after making several knocks on it.
I kept quiet. I heard her rattling the door knob.
"I don't think he's home," I heard her call below to Mean. "His bedroom door is locked and he's not answering my knocking. He probably stepped out to buy something."
I heard Mean faintly saying from below, "Let me try calling him."
Shit, I frantically looked around the room for my phone to mute it before it could start ringing. Luckily I saw it on top of my desk and grabbed it and muted it right away.
"He's not picking up," I heard Mean say.
"It's okay," I heard P'Nat say. "why don't you come to the dining room and I will serve you some tea and biscuits."
Okay, so they were just going to have some early evening tea and not a proper dinner.
I did not know whom to get upset with more, P'Nat or Mean.
I realized that I was upset more with Mean than P'Nat. I had told him to stay away from my sister and he chose not to listen to me. I was sorely tempted to march down the stairs and go to the dining room and pour the scalding hot tea over his head.
Instead, while they were in the dining room, I sneaked out of my room and quietly tiptoed down the stairs and noiselessly brought myself out of the house.
I crouched just outside the door, on the side where, if you open the door, the door would swing open to cover the spot where I was crouching.
My legs were almost getting numb from waiting when I heard the door opening and Mean saying to P'Nat, "You don't have to see me out. Thank you for a lovely evening."
As soon as he closed the door, I stood up from my crouching position to confront him.
His eyes widened and before he could say a word, I lunged at him and started pounding my fists on his chest.
"I told you to stay away from P'Nat!" I cried. To my horror, I noticed that my voice was quivering with so much anger.
"Listen, sweetheart," Mean started to say.
"Don't you sweetheart me, you dirty bastard!" I continued to pound on his chest.
"But honey......"
"And don't you honey me either, you bloody jerk!" I cried, still pounding on his chest. This time, to my great mortification, my tears started rolling down my cheeks.
Mean grabbed my waist and pulled me tightly towards him, trapping my arms, making me unable to continue pounding on his chest.
He looked at my tearful face intently and seriously.
"I'm not after your sister, you blind idiot," he said.
"Then who are you after?" I asked almost in a whisper because my heart seemed to have gotten caught in my throat.
He did not answer. Instead, he slowly lowered his head and brought his lips to mine.
I found myself giving him back kiss for delicious kiss.
His hold on me relaxed and I wound my arms around his neck while he lowered his own arms to my waist.
