Chapter 19

Third Person POV

After helping Natalie to pick up the items that she had shopped from the pharmacy, Mean helped her to get up from the ground.

Natalie felt a little self conscious as she pulled her skirt down because it had hitched up her thighs a little bit when she had crouched to pick up her fallen stuff from the ground. She thanked Mean and asked him if he needed a ride back home.

"I'm okay, thanks, P'Nat," said Mean, "I brought my car with me."

"Oh, okay then," said Natalie, "bye, Mean, it was nice seeing you today."

"Same here," Mean replied.

Mean and Natalie noticed that they were walking in the same direction in the parking lot.

They laughed together when they realized that their cars were parked beside each other.

Mean started his car, but waited for Natalie to drive away first. He felt that it was the gentlemanly thing to do.

When after some time he saw that Natalie's car was not moving he realized it was because her car would not start.

Both he and Natalie stepped out of their cars at the same time.

"My car won't start," Natalie said in frustration.

"Let me take a look," Mean offered, "can you unlock the hood?"

After Natalie did so, Mean looked around and realized that the battery of her car was dead.

"If I had a cable I would try to jump start your car," said Mean, "unfortunately I don't have any."

"I don't have any either," Natalie said regretfully.

"Let me call a tow truck company to tow your car to the nearest car shop and then I'll take you home in my car," Mean offered.

"I'm so sorry to put you to all this trouble," said Natalie.

"Not a problem," said Mean.

After Natalie's car had been brought to the car shop, she was told that she would have to come back for her car the following day because there were several other cars ahead of hers that needed attention, plus the shop still had to buy the battery from another shop.

Mean told Natalie not to worry. He was going to drive her home in his car.

"No, no, no," said Natalie, "I will just take a taxicab. You have done enough for me already."

"I insist," said Mean, "My car is already here. Why will you call for a taxi. Come, get back inside my car."

When they reached the gate of Natalie's house, Natalie turned to Mean.

"I cannot express my gratitude enough for your kindness," said Natalie, holding out her hand to Mean which Mean took wholeheartedly.

"I must find a way to pay you back for your kindness," Natalie continued, "can I treat you to dinner tomorrow after I get home from my university classes?"

"It would be my pleasure," Mean said with a bright smile.

"Oh, I don't have your number, in case for any reason you can't make it, you should text me to let me know," said Natalie, handing her phone to Mean.

Mean took it and used Natalie's phone to call his number.

"Tomorrow is settled then," said Natalie after Mean handed her back her phone.

"Of course," said Mean, "I will look forward to tomorrow."

When Natalie stepped out of Mean's car, she did not notice that her brother was watching her and Mean from an upstairs window of their house.
