35 : As If You Have A Choice
Immortality. Y/n never thought that 'privilege' or 'advantage' has existed in this world, neither believe it, nor ever crossed her innocent mind that she will be given to. She just a mere human, which is she will eventually grow old and die. Or perhaps die at the certain age from any of the possibilities. That's a fact for a human like her. So, how's she going to react when she has been offered to live an eternal life? Happy? Does it happy to live in an endless time? Then, sad? Doesn't it good to throw her worries about being sick and hurt?
"Y-You're k-kidding, right... Shin-kun?" Y/n finally spoke with a little bit stutter in her voice. She's hoping that she doesn't have to make such choices to cut Shin's wing and wishing that Shin just playfully offered her about being immortal. What's the point she decided to stab herself when Shin still asking her to cut his wing? Although it gives immortality, the thought of cutting his wing for her own benefit is harsh to bear.
"I'm afraid, I'm not, Y/n." Shin said, his eyes never wavered away from her. "You're worried about being immortal."
"Of course." She can't even decide whether she wants it or not. For sure being immortal is great, but she has to hurt Shin for once again. On top of that, what if she regretted her choice? She had to live for an eternal life with Shin, which is; there was no running away from him, there will no other choice than to be with him. Even normal relationship have ups and down, break up and such...
"I don't know if I will make the right choice about be-"
"I'm not asking you to make a choice, Y/n. I want you to have it." Shin cuts, his eyes fixed on the (e/c) eyes that seem a little bit wider than before. Y/n should comprehend about his intentions. Being immortal is assuredly not a choice for her as Shin already planned it for a long time.
"W-What do you mean? I can't object about this?" Y/n took away her fingers from his grasp, narrowing her eyebrows and still waiting in shock for a response.
Shin POV
"No. Apparently, you can't." I replied, received an irritation stare from Y/n. I need to be stern about doing this, force her if I had to, just to make sure she's going to live for a long, long time with me. From the start I had feelings for her, I know everything will change. I know things will never get back to the way it was before. Frankly speaking, I could go back if I were given to, if I repented of my wrongdoings, even if I was the fallen. But, I chose to stay with Y/n ever since she was small. I chose her over the heaven and that's why I never thought of going back by asking her to put my right wing, just to fly home and probably face the biggest punishment after I killed quite a lot of humans. And once I decided to give her the immortality, once this left wing was torn apart from me, there was no way for me to go back to heaven anymore. Since my left wing can never be attached after it is removed. It will be separated from me forever. One of the biggest sins I will gladly do for Y/n. For sure, she doesn't have to know anything about that...
"Shin, you can't do this to me." Y/n whined at me. She's too nice to hurt me, I can read in her eyes.
"I can, Y/n." I coldly answered as I heard a heavy sigh escaped from her lips. Her face that looks so gloomy with the thought of being immortal, amused me. Cause I had somewhat of a theory that humans definitely desires of having an eternal life, they patently couldn't care less to cut my wing if I gave this opportunity to them. Also, if I revealed about the chance of immortality to Ryu with this wing earlier, I already can tell his stupid reaction. So much different than Y/n, I dare to bet my wings on that.
"I don't want to cut your wing, please... Shin."
"I know," I touched her soft cheeks, resting my forehead on hers after placed a few kisses on it. "I can't handle the pain of you getting hurt, little one. Can you understand that?"
"Then, I promise you that I'll take a good care of myself." Y/n spoke, bargained with her promises like a little girl. How can she simply promise me when she just barely survived from trying to kill herself? Not that I don't trust her, but I don't trust that she will survive if she intends to do something like that for the second time.
"What about after several years later? More years to come? You knew that you will grow older, Y/n." I leaned back, staring again at her eyes. A human life is so fragile, so delicate. They're aging, dying of sickness, easily getting injuries and she knew that.
"Can it be another way? Put a mark on me like you did before or such? Like vampires, they just have to bite someone else and put a venom to make their mate a vampire too. Is there any other way like that? Because your way is just so... heartless." Y/n grumbled, probably the thought of 'no other choice' driving her to the edge. At least, I can read that she wants to pick the choice of being immortal. She just couldn't afford to hurt me.
I laughed upon hearing her imagination. "Haha~ you're so cute, dear."
"I'm serious, Shin-kun!"
"I know, can't help it, though." I chuckled, getting a frown from her.
"It may be funny to you, but I was freaking out of my mind trying to give my answer. You forced me to be immortal by hurting you, which you knew very well that I'll feel guilty of doing that. I still feeling responsible for what my father had done to you up to this very moment. Now, you asked me to cut it for my own sake. If there is any other way, even a small chance of me being immortal by doing something else, I'd rather ta-"
"There is. Yet, it's a complicated process and risky too." I cut her words, her eyes already sparkled with anticipation. I've heard about this method centuries ago, which to me were very unfamiliar with it. So, I'm not sure if this process going to work or not.
"What do I need to do?"
"Bear my child," I stated. Her face's starting to blush.
"Ooh..." Y/n fiddling with her fingers and continue to speak, "I thought it was something more difficult."
My lips turned upwards. "You think it's going to be easy, Y/n?"
"Well, if I choose to stay with you... of course, we're going to do that kind of intimate activity and eventually having a family of our own. So, I don't think it's a complicated process to bear your child..." She mumbled on the last few sentences when her eyes met mine. Then she looked down, hiding her blushing face from me.
"It's not as easy as you think, little one," I said along with a smile, more like a warning to her. I chose to make her cut my wing because I'd rather be hurt than waiting with full expectation for something miracle using the other choice. It's not hundred percent guaranteed that it will happen.
"What do you mean?" Y/n asked, staring back at me with around [e/c] eyes of hers. Beautiful.
"You will get immortal only if you gave birth of my immortal child. I've heard something like this centuries ago, an angel fell in love with a human. They have a human wedding, and chose to make her immortal with this method, which predictably turned out unsuccessful."
She blinked curiously. "What happen to both of them?"
"She died when she's delivering birth to her third son. And he flew back to heaven and received his punishment."
"What about their children?"
"It's already centuries ago, Y/n. Certainly, they all died as they were all humans." I uttered calmly. Not really interested in storytelling about their love story as I should be worrying about my own love story. Y/n smiled and clasped both of her hands together,
"Does she meet with him in the heaven after she died?" She curiously asked me. Did she think their love story is romantic? Her eyes glittered with interest to find out about them.
"No. If they were, they will never recognize each other since their love is forbidden." I explained, stated the information that has been told to me. Her smile disappeared a little bit as disappointment takes over her expression. Not so romantic after all, right... dear? Well, things are not always beautiful as it looks. Love is beautiful, yet scary to a creature like me and to a human like her. So, I need to make her immortal. Let me be the one that falls to a deepest sin of all, but don't take Y/n away from me, don't even take my memories of her...
I keep staring at Y/n as I lifted her hand, grazing her fingers and intertwined with mine. She was still in silent mode, her eyes showing a doubtful choice again. I want to force her, intimidate her with something precious. However, I found a slight push of 'sweet and honest confession' can be useful for a moment like this.
"Do you remember when you were small, you asked me if I have a girlfriend? The one that I want to spend my entire life with? About love is finding the right one?" I asked. Seconds later, her head slightly nodded.
"I remembered. You asked me if I can be your girlfriend when I'm saying that I'm still a little girl." Y/n answered, finally opened her mouth while her eyes fixed on our interlaced fingers.
"Right, now... I found her. Literally, I was waiting for her-" I paused my words, slightly touched her chin to look at her beautiful eyes and speak,
"Since I found her, doesn't she supposed to spend her entire life with me? But, how can she do that when she just a human as I was an immortal creature? She will die before me and leave me. That's not fair for me. The thought of living this eternal life alone already scares me, Y/n. So, now, I hand you a proposal."
"Shin..."
"Will you live for immortality with me?" I proposed, not really care for her answer actually. I just used some kind of human cliché vow that I've read in the book. Obviously, I've adjusted a bit to give comfort words for her. If words bring failure, I need to come up with actions cause Y/n need to be immortal. Either choice of method that she'd prefer to use, she needs to know that choices weren't made for her...
