Flashback

Shin blinked his eyes as his vision focusing on the wall. He doesn't even know how long he's been lying down on the dirty floor. - Staring at the dark basement wall that located few meters away from him. Just waiting and thinking about Y/n. Since he can't sleep like a human, all he can do is being obedient to wait in this lonely basement. He doesn't know how long he's going to be in here. But, he couldn't fly back to heaven and leave everything. He just... can't. How could he go back when his thoughts are full of Y/n? The urge to make Y/n stay by his side, overcome everything that he can come up with. All that he can ever think is HER.

      "This side of me...." Shin touched his left chest, grabbed a white shirt that he always wears when he met with Y/n.

      "It feels so hurt. Is this how humans feel when they sad; when they were alone? Or is this how humans feel when they been left out?"

      No. He is an angel. - A creature that born without feelings such as humans; But why... Why he feels sad right now? Like a hole is created in the side humans called as a heart. He never felt this feeling before. He learned to know that happy feeling comes around when he's with Y/n and he really enjoys it. However, this feeling right now is somehow unbearable. One thing that he knows, an angel is forbidden to have feelings like a human. But how can he control it?

      "Y/n," Shin called a name that's been on his mind the entire time. If this continues on... the torture of not having her smile in front of him, her cute laugh that he finds like a sweet symphony on his ears, all of that thoughts going to make him choose the only choice he has. Maybe killing a human is not a bad idea. He can do it easily and Y/n... will stay in his arms.

       "No way. Killing humans are wrong. They were innocent... I'm not a devil." Shin muttered, shaking his head to deny any bad intentions that crossed his mind. If just being a detainee in this room can meet him with Y/n, he'd be grateful enough. - No further than that. Not killing a human. No killing at all.... No.

       When he heard sounds of step walking closer to the basement, Shin change his position. Sat in the middle of the room and waiting until someone opens the door. As the door swinging open, Shin tilts his head and hoping that the one who walks into the room is the one he was waiting for.

       "You still here, creature."

       Shin let out a small sigh. - Disappointed when the one who walking inside the room is Daiki. The least of a person that he'd want to meet with....

      "So, have you thought about the deal we've talked about? Or do you need some time?" Daiki bends down his body and staring right at Shin. He can't fall asleep last night. His mind keeps thinking about this creature. He doesn't care about Shin's origin. An angel or not, Daiki has to take an advantage to use him since that creature is so fond of his daughter. That creature surely is the key to his answer.

       "But I'd like to assure you... I really don't have any time left. You need to make a decision, creature."

       "I can't kill a human." Shin gave his answer. He really can't kill a human. He can't do that and he shouldn't violate the rules. Even though he already disobeyed the rules after having feelings towards human, after choosing to stay in the world rather than going back to heaven, Shin can't simply kill a human. Even the bad intentions to kill that crossed his mind were too much for a creature like him. Everything will fall apart if he crossed the line.

       "Fine. But I should take Y/n away from here. We're not going to stay in this house again." That's the truth that Daiki can't do anything with. Kenji will come with his men. Daiki has found out about Kenji was looking out for him yesterday. Only God knows how anxious he was. Frightened to meet with Kenji since Daiki pretty sure that guy comes with fierce for his money. He thought God is helping him when (M/n) shouted his name to face this creature. What a shame... This creature seems useless when he can't kill a human.

       "Is there another choice than killing a human?" Shin asked. He's looking at Daiki with surprised. His eyes... He's telling the truth. He wants to take Y/n away from here.

       "I need money. Do you even know what it is, creature?"

       Shin silent for a moment. Money. - Cash; a luxury for humans that they seek for in this world. He heard Y/n said something about this before and he knows what it is. That's certainly a better choice rather than killing an innocent human.

       "If I give you the money that you want, will you promise me... That Y/n will stay with me?" Shin curiously asked.

       "Of course, I promise."

      "You're lying," Shin stated without a doubt. He can saw it from Daiki's eyes.

       "So, you have that ability, huh?" Daiki smirked. Not bad for an angel. That creature figured out about his lie so easily; just by looking at him.

      "Daiki!" (M/n) burst into the room, out of breath after running down to the basement with Y/n.

       "What's wrong?"

       "Kenji is coming. He tries to break the front door!" (M/n) said in panic; making her husband's eyes widen in surprise.

      "What?!" Daiki starts to feel restless. The thought of Kenji's coming agitated him extremely. Moreover, when that creature refused to kill a human. What choice is left for him? Y/n. How far can that creature go for his daughter?

      Daiki took Y/n from (M/n) "You go find somewhere safe. I take care of Y/n and hide her."

      "No! Let me take her and we can hide in the forest." (M/n) refused on her husband plan. She feels worried to leave Y/n with him.

      "Don't argue with me! Do you want our daughter to be safe or not? It's safer when she's with me. Go!" Daiki commanded; which make (M/n) voiceless and just leave Y/n with a kiss before leaving the room.

      "Mom?" Y/n tugged on Daiki's sleeve. "Dad, where is mom going?"

      "Look, we don't have a time, creature. Kenji will break through the front door any minute now. They'll definitely be going to hurt Y/n if you do not kill him." Daiki said, ignored his daughter's question.

      "The money that you want... is it for him?" Shin asked.

      "Of course! Everything will be fine if I just pay him. And I doubt that you have any cash on you right now. So, why don't you just fucking kill him so that he can't touch Y/n?"

Shin POV

      Kill him. Everything will be fine. He can't touch Y/n. Kill him.

     That sentence lingers in my mind. Like a devil whispering in my ears. Tries to change my thoughts and take my sanity. Incredible when that bad intention is coming from a human. - Just because they feel scared; just because they feel unsafe. Not that I'm easily swayed by him, but protecting Y/n is my first priority. A fragile mortal that I truly cared in this world.

      "Daiiikkiiiii!!!"

      I've heard the scream of a man calling Daiki for couple times from upstairs. Daiki seems to notice too since his face looks tense. That must be Kenji. The one Daiki's talking about. The sound of steps rushing down to the basement seems like a group of human. My identity... No. There's no point in hiding it right now.

      "They've come. Stand back." I said. Daiki dragged Y/n and stand beside me as I stand up on my feet. I glanced on Y/n before I look at the door. I can simply take Y/n and run away at this critical moment. Leave Daiki with his own problems. Regardless, he was someone important to Y/n. Like he said, everything will be fine if Kenji got his money. So, I should help him as long as I can. Although he might lie and take Y/n away, I believe what I saw is something that can change for humans. Perhaps, he has to lie because he had to. I believe that was it...

      "Daiikii!"

      The door forced open. But once the entire mortal steps inside and saw me, they froze like a statue.

      "What the hell is this? Do you think some prank you used can scare me? Huh, Daiki?" The guy with a beard and a small scar near on his eyes started to talk. His eyes... he's scared, but his words said otherwise. Interesting. Are lies necessary for humans when they feel scared?

      "Shin-kun..." Y/n held my hand. Her action caught me off guard. She must be scared. Her hand is shaking... I wish I can calm her down; whisper to her so that she can feel safe. No one is going to hurt her. I'm here, Y/n....

       "I believe you were Kenji," I asked the man that's standing in front of me. These problems have to be solved as soon as possible. I don't want to hold Y/n tremble hand like this.

      "Who are you?" He asked me back.

      "Shin."

      "A-And who the hell is Shin? W-What are you? Is that wings some kind of Halloween costume?" He sneered; stare away from looking at me.

      "Daiki, you really have nerves to hide, man. Where's my money, Daiki?"

      I glanced on Daiki. He seems fear to even talk.

     "I can give you the money. But you have to promise me, that you will never disturb his family again." I said.

      "You have the money?" Kenji asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

      "Yes. But I need your promise."

       Kenji glares to the behind of his shoulder, looking at a couple of his men at the back before staring back at me.

      "What is this, Daiki? Who is this stupid guy? Man, I need my money."

      "I can gi..."

       "You think I'm going to believe you? You don't even wear shoes, freak! What in the world, you think that I'm going to believe that you have the money? Who are you anyway?!" Kenji snorted, took out some sort of dagger behind his back and pointed it to me. - A way to threaten me or Daiki.

       "D-Don't make a useless move, Kenji. He-He's not a h-human. All of you... you better leave before someone getting hurt." Daiki suddenly burst with words.

       "Not human? You have to stop lying, you piece of shit!" Kenji dashed towards Daiki with his dagger before I expand my wings to protect him. He stops his steps midway, standing stiffly while looking at me.

       "I don't want to harm anyone. So, please..." I tried to be as considerate as possible.

      "What are you?! An angel?" Kenji said in distrust. He charged again with his dagger. This time, his aim is... me. I put Y/n behind my body. She can't be hurt.

       I'm not running away. I don't want to fight. I don't want to harm any mortals. And because I do not resist his action, Kenji ends up stabbing my stomach. Nevertheless, he shocked when he took out the dagger from my stomach. The blade cleans without any blood. I'm not injured in any way.

      "What the hell?!" Kenji outraged. He does not give in as he stabbed me for the second time. Then, he gasped while looking at his own dagger.

       "Do you believe now?" I asked. He just stood stiffly in front of me. Including his men are standing in awe when they looked that I'm perfectly fine. I prefer they stay frozen like that rather than they attack me. I really don't want to harm any of them.

       "H-H-How do-do you want to pay me?" Kenji stuttered. Propose me with a conclusion that supposedly for him to take on the first place.

      "Promise me that you keep your filthy hands away from neither Y/n nor her family."

       "I just want my money. I promise."

       I let down my wings, take a look in his eyes. He did say the truth. But, something about him is hard for me to explain. – Some dark vibes that I can't figure out. No. I shouldn't accuse something that I'm not even sure of. Just like I gave a chance to trust Daiki, I should give the same treatment to another human.

      "Then, I'll pay you his debt. But not with money." I said, getting a glare from Kenji.

       "I pay it with my wing. One of my wings." Now, I made everyone in the room surprised. Even Daiki looks speechless....

       "W-What?" Kenji seems doubtful.

       "My wing. It can give a luxurious to human. Till the end of his life."

       Kenji gave a look to Daiki and staring back at me. "What if all the things you said is just bullshit? How can I believe in you?"

      "It's a win-win, Kenji. He's going to lose his wing. What do you expect? Do you think he's going to lie? He's an angel for god sake!" Daiki interjects the conversation.

       I'm just listening without saying anything. It is unfortunate for me to lose one of my wings. It means that I can't fly back to heaven. Well, I might cast out from heaven anyway, since I've chosen to stay beside Y/n. Feelings towards human that an angel like me shouldn't have. I want to seek my own happiness by being beside Y/n. Maybe she is my heaven. - My true home to belong with.

       Kenji let out a heavy sigh. "I swear to god, I'm going to find you if this bullshit didn't work!"

      "Fair enough." I gave a weak smile.

      "Here, let me be the one who cut it." Kenji volunteered himself with a dagger still in his hand.

      "You can't hurt me," I said. "Give me your knife."

       Kenji doesn't hesitate to give me. I took it and lay my hand on the blade. Since I'm immortal, I can't be hurt by human or myself. But still, there's a way to hurt me. One way to make me hurt or even kill me besides God's will.

       "I believe you will hold your promise, Daiki," I said, without looking at his eyes. I want to believe that he will change his intention.

       "Don't worry. I promise you, Shin."

       I smile a little; enough for me to hear his promise and believe in him. I removed my hand from the blade. Leave an incantation that appeared on the blade that I've touched. Just a normal weapon can't hurt me. Well, it can, if I'm in a mortal state.

      I knelt down on the floor.

      "Can you cut it yourself?" Daiki asked.

      I shook my head. It can't be just anyone who can hurt me...

      "Only Y/n. She needs to hold this and cut me." I replied. Yes. Only the one that I have a feeling with can hurt me. - A human that can be a weakness to a creature like me, a human that can make me a mortal for a certain time. Only a certain time before I'll change back to become immortal; the rule that bound to angels who form feelings toward a human. That's why it was forbidden for an angel to become closer to a mortal. - Because they can be a weakness to an angel. But it's too late for me....

      "Y-Y/n? Can't anyone else cut it for her?"

      "No. Only her." I said. I turned my head to look at Y/n. She stands beside her father, clueless with everything. I gave the dagger on my hand to Y/n. She shook her head as she knows that dagger was a dangerous thing to play with.

      "You can help her, but her hand needs to hold the knife." I gave the dagger to Daiki. He's not stalling the time as he quickly takes it from my hand.

      "Y/n, touch this. We can settle this. Hold this, Y/n." Daiki tries to take her daughter hands to touch the holder of the dagger.

       "No. I don't want to! Dad!" Y/n resisted. "Shin-kun! I don't want it!"

       I keep my head down. I don't want to see her cry. I know she has a good heart and it was wrong to contaminate it. But, all I did... I just want to save her without hurting any humans around me.

       "Be a good girl, Y/n!"

        I heard Daiki screamed at her. Along with her sobs and screamed before I feel a hand touched my right wing.

       "Shin-kun! Help!... No! Dad! No!"

        I closed my eyes as tightly as possible. Her rejection to hurt me is somewhat hard for me to endure. I can't take it. Her screams make me shout,

        "Now!"

        Within a second, I feel a sharp, painful cut on my right wing. I gritted my teeth, clenched my fist as I tried to hold the pain. I keep hearing Y/n voices saying that she was sorry before that voice losing away from my hearing.

        "It's done!" Daiki screamed. Made my eyes pops open, weakly to look at him.

        He did succeed in cutting my wing. - With Y/n unconscious on his shoulder.

        "Give me!" Kenji took it from Daiki's hand. He laid my big, white wing on the floor like some kind of valuable goods to him. Captivated to look and touch my wing alongside with his men.

        "So, we're over, right? Don't ever find me again, Kenji." Daiki said, put the dagger in his back pocket. Then, he carried Y/n properly in his arms.

        "Y/n..." I called her name, softly. She looks so weak in her father's arms.

        "Wait, Daiki. Hey, freak..."

         I changed my view as my eyes stare at Kenji. Once I look at his eyes, I sense the dark vibes again.

         "So, what? I just have to keep this wing and I'll get the money?" Kenji asked. I weakly nodded at him.

         "There's come a way to make you rich for your entire life as long as you keep my wing. But I need a drop of your blood on it."

        Kenji does not delay anything when he made a cut on his finger with his man's knife. He dropped a couple of his blood on my wing and licked his own finger. I touched the smear of his blood and make it disappear from the human's eyes. It looks like a devil's will but it's actually to make my wing belong to the holder of the blood. - So that not anyone can get the privilege if they take away this wing; so that only the owner of the blood can savor it.

       I turned my head to look at Daiki. "Y/n... can't you let her stay here for a while? I just need to look at her..."

       "No."

       That one word from his mouth makes my eyes widen in surprise. Maybe I was hoping too much...

       "Wait, you... you promised me." I clenched my fist; try to move, but... God, I'm so weak right now.

        "You should know better since you can tell if I'm lying or not, creature."

        "No. You shouldn't be doing this to me. I'm saving your lives." I used all my energy to get up on my feet. As I walked couple steps, I knelt down on the floor again. This mortal state is weaker than I've thought...

       "And I'm saving my daughter's life from you, creature," Daiki said. He started to walk before I grabbed Y/n left ankle. Make a mark as I put a burning scar on it.

        "What the.... Let her go!" Daiki screamed at me. I looked at him as I smile a little. Hide my sadness away from him...

         "She will be mine."

        Daiki kicked my chest and make me fall to the floor. I groaned as I watch him hurriedly leave the room with Y/n. My eyes welling with waters... Crying. I touched my left cheek and looked at my finger. I did start crying...
