Awoken
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
I was in that hospital bed, I had basically lost track of time now, but it felt like it had been at least a couple years since I've ended up here. I was barely in any physical pain anymore thanks to Kira, but the emotional pain I felt hurt more than anything.
Every day I would visit my grandfather in the departed realm and watch Harumi do horrible things to Ryder. Sometimes even mentally abusing him enough to the point where he didn't have the strength to get back up, much less see me or talk to me when I go to visit him.
Although I wanted to see where he was, nothing had changed. For those three years I've been here, my son had been in constant danger. He had gone through just about every kind of abuse you can think of, and it was all my fault.
After a while I heard two people walk into the room.
"Hello Kira. Hi Nya." My mother greeted them.
"Hi Misako." Kira said. "Nya and I came to check on you and Lloyd."
"Well it's not like much has changed." She sighed. "Maybe it's time to face the truth."
"What do you mean?" Nya asked.
"I mean it's been three years and he's barely moved an inch. He must be so miserable."
"His condition is improving, just slowly." Kira said. "But I know how hard it's been on all of you and if you think he'd be happier in the departed realm then it's your call."
'Mom please don't. I have to save to Ryder!' I tried to yell, but as always no one could hear me.
"Lloyd would never give up on us, so we won't give up on him. Right?" I heard Nya ask.
"Nya, the last thing I want is to let him go, but if he hasn't waken up by now, will he ever?" I heard my mother starting to cry.
"Are you absolutely sure you want to let him go?" Kira asked.
"What other choice do I have?" I felt my mother's hand rub though my hair.
"Very well, I'll give you an hour to say you're good byes." Kira said before she left.
I had to do something and fast. I can't have come all this way for nothing. I had to save Ryder. Whatever it takes.
I fell asleep and went into the departed realm to see my grandfather again, and maybe for the last time. He saw how upset I was and knew something was wrong.
"What is it grandson?" My grandfather asked.
"Grandpa, I need to wake up. Now." I said.
"You know I'm not able to do that for you."
"You don't understand. They're about to let me go. Free me from coma. If that happens Ryder will never get rescued. He'll have to live with Harumi forever, if he lives that long."
"I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." He frowned.
"Please let me see him one last time." I begged.
"Are you sure? I must warn you you may not like what you see."
"Please."
My grandfather nodded and pulled up the magic window. I looked in it to see Ryder being strangled by his neck and thrown to the floor by Harumi.
"Maybe that will shut you up you annoying little brat!" Harumi screamed.
Ryder laid there unconscious for a few seconds. When he woke up his eyes were still closed and his teeth were clinched. He looked like he was in too much pain to move.
"If I don't do something she's going to kill him!" I exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I'm afraid that you won't be able to visit him." The FSM sighed. "The boy's imagination is dying."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"It means he's starting to lose hope." FSM frowned. "He's starting to except that this is going to be his life forever."
"So in other words, Harumi's breaking the fun-loving boy I know, both mentally and physically." I frowned. I turned to my grandfather and begged. "Please, there's gotta be something you can do, anything!"
"No Lloyd, there's something you can do."
"What can I do? I'm stuck in a coma like I have been for the last three years."
"Wake up." He answered. "Wake up and save your son."
"How? I can't even open my eyes!"
"Try." He said.
"I have, I can't do it!" I screamed.
I put my hand on the magic window. In it Harumi was forcing him to get up, but he was in pain and could hardly move. She was pushing him way too hard and I knew if I didn't save him today, then he wouldn't be alive tomorrow. I had to wake up, not just my awareness but my whole body.
"Don't worry bud, Daddy's coming." I sighed as the magic window disappeared. I turned back to my grandfather. "Grandfather, if I wake up, will I remember any of this?"
"Not at first." He explained. "In time the memories may come back to you, but there is a chance you may never remember."
"Will Ryder remember my visits?" I asked.
"He will, but he'll believe that you were his imaginary friend and he may have a different memorization of what you looked like."
"That's fine, I just need to remember who he is and where he is." I said.
"That shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep him in mind." He said and I nodded. "Good luck Lloyd."
"Thank you Grandfather, for everything." I smiled. He smiled back.
I woke up back in that room. My eyes were still closed, my body still stiff, but I had to wake up. For Ryder.
'For Ryder. I'm doing it for Ryder. Ryder. Ryder." I thought to myself. I kept repeating his name in my head.
Eventually I could feel the feeling return in my body, and with one giant breath, I woke up screaming his name.
"Ryder!"
