76. I Need You

"It's your fault that I remain restless until I see you,
Then why am I the cruel one?"

----

The bright yellow-orangish hue of the sun rays made her furrow her brows in sleep. She groaned in annoyance, followed by peeling her eyes open one after another. The familiar yet unfamiliar and distinct setting of the room made her instantly jolt up in her position.

She recognised it wasn't her room.

"Fuck!" She hissed holding her head as a severe headache hit her system, her stomach rumbling with different types of noises because of her not eating anything for the whole day. The events of yesterday playing like a movie in her head.

Jungkook forcefully dragging her towards the car and then she slept.

"How the hell can I sleep?!" She cursed herself.

Immediately, she got up from her position, flipped over the comforter and opened the door of the room only to sense that Jungkook wasn't there anymore.

She strolled mindlessly throughout the living room and a note neatly kept on the table caught her attention. Her brows knit in confusion as she glanced at the note kept on the table with a tray of food, neatly covered with a plate, to avoid anything to fall on the contents of the bowl.

'Let's meet at the company. I've informed the legal team and they'll deal with the divorce papers in our presence. You'll be free now.

Don't forget to eat.'

Her hands quivered as she mentally read the note twice to decipher all the words. She noticed the missing emoticons in his usual notes, the handwriting appeared more structured and above all, the words...

Shattered her heart once again.

"That's how my love ends, I guess." She uttered, wiping the uncontrollable tears from the back of her hand and crumbled the note into a small piece, throwing it somewhere in the living room.

She scrutinized, not much had changed in a whole month when she stood at the same place where her dreams had shattered a while ago. Just that she could see numerous expensive alcohol bottles lying in a corner as if they were a showpiece and the ashtray filled with a load of cigarette butts.

"And he said that smoking kills." She laughed bitterly remembering his words.

Ignoring all the mess of the living room, she strolled towards her room only to see it as clean as ever, as if someone cleaned it every day, her things were carefully kept the way they were and even the makeup items and toiletries were left untouched, the way they were.

She scoffed looking at the neat room, as if it mocked at her misery and picked up one of her business suits to wear. A sheer royal blue blazer paired with matching pants and a cream shirt neatly tucked underneath, she left her hair open which reached till her midriff and applied a considerable amount of lip tint.

"This'll be my last meeting with him, won't it?" She murmured to her reflection in the mirror, the timer still glowed profoundly as if like an alarm to her nearing expiry date.

Tears pooled in her already reddened eyes and she sniffed, picking up her bag and simultaneously, took the car keys, leaving the house towards the said destination.

----

As she entered the HYBE building, everyone's eyes turned towards the lawyer, scrutinizing 'the celebrity of the day'. Ignoring all the eyes on her she swiftly picked up the call from her brother.

"Yes, oppa?"

"Where are you?" He asked, anxiously.

"HYBE. He finally agreed to have a mutual divorce." She replied, plainly.

"Y/N... You really want this?" Han Seok enquired, his voice tinged with worry.

"Yes. I want peace." She answered honestly, shutting the other before he could speak anymore.

She hung up the call without any further say and walked towards the reception. The girl standing there greeted her with a professional smile and walked her towards the meeting room.

Throughout the small walk of five minutes, Y/N's mind played flashbacks of the last time she visited here. She carried determination, power and confidence unlike now, when she appears like a downtrodden woman.

'What has life turned me to?' She asked herself as she reached up to the closed wooden furnished door of the conference room.

She took in a deep breath, her mind colliding with the 'n' number of thoughts but before she could proceed with any other thoughts, the door opened and her said 'husband' for now, came into view.

He sat there, one leg above the other, wearing his usual all-black clothing, hair perfectly trimmed and gelled upwards giving a significant look of his forehead, the high-end luxury watch on his right hand and those tattoos being the distraction they always were.

The world seemed to be stopped spinning in front of them as their eyes meet.

She stared into his blank brown eyes for a moment, searching for some emotions but she could see none. His lips parted to speak something but turned to the other side and ordered the legal team.

"Let's get done with this. Please sit." He remarked in the coldest tone without sparing a glance at her, his voice bringing her back to reality as she cleared her throat and scurried her feet and sat in front of the male, without looking in his direction.

Mr. Bang sat beside him, with a pitiful look on his face as he looked at the two of them. As much as he wished to put a halt to what was happening, he couldn't because it was Jungkook's decision and he couldn't say no to it. Especially after witnessing the younger's deteriorating state, he definitely couldn't say 'no'.

The papers were already signed and
the members of the legal team portrayed the terms and conditions, which she paid no heed to listening to. All she wanted was for the process to be done as fast as possible.

In fifteen minutes, the legal procedures were over and Y/N was offered the alimony which she swiftly declined. Jungkook motioned them to do as she said and so, the members of the legal team nodded and did the work as per her request.

Throughout the procedure, none of them spoke anything, Jungkook sat silently gazing out of nowhere and Y/N's gaze was fixed on the floor, tears pooling in the corner of her eyes as they threatened to fall anytime soon. He observed her nervously fiddling with her fingers and trying her best to bot breakdown. As much as he wished to stop all this, he couldn't.

He decided to free her and that will happen, no matter what.

It'll hurt but he was certain, at least, she'll be happy.

"You're dismissed," Mr. Bang ordered, as soon as the procedure was done and everyone left the room, along with him who wished to give the two of them some privacy.

Y/N too, took her belongings and was about to rush out of this suffocating place until Jungkook's voice made her halt on her position.

"Y/N..."

He muttered softly, standing a meter away from her, his husky tone faltering and becoming rough. He was controlling himself from bursting into tears, just like the woman.

"I'm sorry for everything." He apologized, sincerely, from the deepest pits of his heart but he was aware, it was too late for this.

After all, his apology won't change the fact that they had no relationship between them as of today.

They once again became the strangers they were.

She looked up at him with her reddened eyes, her lips parted to speak something but nothing came out. She sighed and nodded her head, not having the strength to indulge in a conversation with him anymore and turned her heels to walk out of the room but his next words left her baffled.

"Min Y/N, I love you." He confessed as she instantaneously halted from walking further and looked at him through her shoulders, a singleton tear making its way on her face as her lips quivered and a sob escaped from her mouth.

Her distressed state once again jabbed him straight into the heart, each tear acting like a poison etching through his system but he didn't have the guts to pull her into a hug, to embrace her and cherish her with all the love she deserved.

'I destroyed her.' That was the thought that came into his mind.

It felt like there was a huge fire as a split boundary separating them and he desperately wished to cross that fire, it'll burn but it'll be worth it, won't it?

"Don't smoke."

Her words brought him back from his trance. That was the last thing she spoke softly before walking away from his view. She took large steps to walk as fast as she could, to escape from this unbearable pain, this never-ending sorrow yet she found herself standing at the crossroads when she reached the parking lot.

Her mind was flooded with all those happy memories of him. Of course, those memories were limited, but then too, they were enough to make her smile throughout the rest of the days she had to breathe on this Earth. She smiled through tears as the reality dawned in her head...

"We aren't... Aren't a married couple anymore." She sobbed hard whilst holding the door of her car.

Her body trembled with the uncountable emotions swirling in her system. She was about to get inside the car but her phone rang and her brows furrowed in perplexion as she glanced at the caller ID through her blurred vision.

"Jimin?" She asked as she picked up the call.

"Don't sign the papers Y/N!" There came his screeching loud voice from the other end but she was too tired to listen to anything at this point. She deeply sighed and retorted back.

"We already have, there's no going back–"

"Oh shut it for fuck's sake! Jungkook didn't use you, I was there that day when he was talking with his father." He revealed, making her hold on the device tightened.

"There's... No need for explanations now. It's really over, Jimin."

"No, it isn't. Listen up! I don't know what sort of misunderstanding you created in your head but Jungkook wasn't using you, trust me. He tore those contract papers that offered him the shares of the company in front of his father, saying that he loves you and he can't betray you." Jimin explained further, leaving her awestruck.

"What-what are you saying?!" She stuttered, faltering on her position as she held the car's hood for support.

"I tried to contact you so many times, Y/N! So many times! But you weren't ready to listen. What he did that day was surely wrong, I know but he is suffering a million times more than what he did to you! Please Y/N! He... He needs you. He'll really die... We can't lose him, please!" He choked on his words while speaking, tears etched in his lashes.

"Jimin I–" He didn't let her speak anymore as he continued.

"Where are you?" He questioned, apprehensively.

"P-Parking lot." She answered, losing her shit because of all the things she just got to know.

"Stay there!"

'What should I believe? What exactly is going on?!'

She was caught up in her web of inner thoughts and she was certain any more of the information would make her delve into a panic attack.

Just as she opened the door of her car to sit inside and let the events of the day sink in, the familiar voice of a male hit her eardrums as he walked closer towards her.

"Long time, Ms. Y/N.... Nah! Mrs. Jeon Y/N isn't it? Or should I remove the tag since you're divorced now?" The man spoke out mocking the woman as he laughed maniacally, keeping his hands inside his pockets.

Lee Hi.

[A/N: Refer to chapter 29 to know who's Lee Hi in case you've forgotten, which you must've I'm certain. :') ]

"The fuck you want now?" Y/N scoffed, bitterly and rolled her eyes.

Moreover, her inside stilled for a moment when she realised all the legal procedures were kept in the dark to avoid any controversy, how in the world did he, out of all people, get to know about that?!

She fumbled in her thoughts when the video of her and Jungkook along with others present inside the meeting room was played by Lee Hi. Everything was visible, from them signing the divorce papers, to their conversation minutes after that.

She knew where this was going.

"This is exactly how you threatened me, remember?" He smirked, mocking her and she clenched her jaw uncontrollably, realising that he was taking revenge for that day.

'It's... Scary.' She mumbled to herself, for the first time in a while she felt chills, not because this man had some information to leak about her private life but because he fucking dared to tarnish the image of the man, she had fought the whole world for. Another voice screamed in her head now,

'How fucking dare he?'

"What will it take you to keep your shitass mouth shut the hell up?" She asked, straight up to the point, cocking her brow at him.

"You certainly have no filters in your mouth, Ms. Lawyer." He uttered, getting closer towards her provoking her last nerve but she remained firm.

In the swap of a moment, a tight slap landed on her face by the man, the intensity of the action made her face turn to the side. A small cut along with a reddened bruise starked upon her skin as she closed her eyes for a mini second and took in a deep breath whilst clenching her jaw.

"It's even now? Isn't it?" Lee Hi muttered under his breath, enjoying the scene in front. She scoffed and smirked, turning towards his side and folding her hands towards her arms, her demeanour not faltering an inch.

"We're even now. I slapped you, you slapped me back. Now, seal your mouth and get the fuck off before I make you eat shit from the nearest gutter." She gritted her teeth in annoyance and rolled her eyes, not ready to handle this drama anymore but the man had other plans. He reached towards her and played with the strand of her hair, continuing his lewd words.

"I didn't like the way you talked to me... Well, Jeon sure got a smoking-hot wife. His loss to leave her alone, what if you give me a bit of company for tonight? I swear no one would know and I might pay you, if you're a good fuck." He muttered the vilest shit ever and that's it, it hit her last nerve.

"Asshole–" She raised her hand to punch the hell out of him but he was fast enough to mercilessly grab a handful of her hair pulling her towards himself as if she were a toy, earning a groan from her.

"Ahh!" She groaned, nibbling her lips in pain but he paid no heed to it as he tightened his hold.

"This is what I like the most about women who run their mouths, feels good to shatter them to pieces. Now, be a good girl and warm my bed on your own will, else the consequences won't be good. You wouldn't like the whole world to know that Jungkook is your dear ex-husband, would you?" He spit out venomous words as tears pricked in the corner of her eyes, due to the pain in her scalp, it felt as if this monster would literally pull out her hair along with the scalp.

"Who's going to save you, bitch?" He mocked, yet again and this time, her demeanour changed. She shot the darkest glare towards him as her reddened eyes made contact with his.

"Me." She spoke out, her hands instantly curling up into a punch and her leg ready to kick the bastard where the sun never shines.

"Hyung, leave me." There came the voice of the most unexpected person amidst all the chaos.

Y/N and her tormenter both glanced in the direction of the voice. His hold was slightly subdued due to the sudden shock but as soon as he saw Jungkook, his lips curved up into a devilish smirk and he pulled the woman even closer to himself by her hair, as if portraying her as some trophy that he won in front of her ex-husband.

All this time Y/N was looking at Jungkook, his eyes widened like ping ping balls, trying to decipher the situation.

"Jungkook... Go away." She whispered as a singleton tear flashed through her drenched lashes.
