"You may walk in 0733." Said some random assistant.
"Thank you." I say as I walk through the doors of the bosses doors.

I walk in to find the boss seating against his desk reading a huge book with a picture of a wizard on the front. I wasn't much into fantasy, but the book must've been good, because the boss took a while to look up.

"What took you so long? Traffic?" He says sarcastically mostly because we aren't aloud to leave the grounds if we aren't doing a job; other than that he's just a dick in a fatherly way.

"Haha. Very funny. Now why did you want me to come and talk to you?" I question.

He turns so he's twisted towards his desk. He presses the little intercom type thingy that goes directly to his assistant and says "send him in." "Yes sir." She replies. 2 seconds later the door is opening and in walks a guy that looks around my age. I observe him as he comes to stand next to me.
"I believe you have been debriefed on the regulations and rules."

"Yes Sir." Replies the guy

"Good. You are now 1637 okay? Forget everything about your life before. This is your life now. Also I'd like you to meet 0733."

1637 turns to me and nods his head then turns back to the boss.

"0733 meet your new partner."

I stand in utter shock. It usually takes months until people get a new partner after one of 'em has died.

"Sir? I don't understand. how did you find someone so quickly to fill in for James?"

"Well we had 1637 on hand in case this happened."

"So you just knew that James was gonna die at some point?"

"Don't they all?"

"I haven't yet."

"Yea well your not normal." I grunt in response.

I look towards 1637 to see amusement in his eyes at the exchange. I look back towards the boss to see he's already back to reading that book from before.

"Come on." I say to 1637 and walk outta the room.
We walk to my room and I stop in front of my door.

"This is my room." I walk to the door next to mine. "This is your room." I point towards James' old room.
"Now there are some ground rules for being my partner. 1 no entering my room without my permission. 2 no coming to my room if it's not important. 3 always knock. 4 don't disturb me. 5 dont complain about my music. Okay we good? Now good-bye." I finish off. Im about to walk in my room when a hand stops me.
I look at the arm connected to it then the shoulder and finally the face of the culprit. "What do you think you are doing?" I ask 1637.

"I wanna come in." He says while rising his eyebrow like it's obvious.

"No fucking way you prev."

"Oh I'm not a prev, I'm your partner."

"Oh believe me I've gone through quite a lot of partners so it's nothing special."

"Oh don't worry bunny. I'll make it super special for you." He says while walking into my room.
