Chapter Sixteen: Sickening

~Y/n's POV~

I sat up straight as soon as I felt myself wake up, my heart was racing and my breathing was quick. Tears had been flowing down my face while I was asleep, judging by how wet it was. I felt sick to my stomach and had to fight every urge not to throw up.

"Woah! Hey, are you alright? You were knocked out for a few hours..." Nightmare exclaimed as he jolted in his seat. I appeared to have been laying across his lap while I was asleep and was currently sitting in it. I shifted off of him and into the seat next to him, putting a hand to my slowing heartbeat.

"I'm... not fine. I lost control and timeline jumped again, no surprise there." I answered in full honesty. Nightmare would be able to tell if I was lying anyway.

"That's what Dream figured it must be. It still worries me seeing you faint like that though. Do you wanna talk about what you saw?"

I smiled to myself slightly at his concern, he really did want to help but didn't really know how. Despite that, he was doing quite good. He made the VOID so much better than it could have been.

I nodded in response to his question and looked around the room looking for a certain other skeleton. "Where did Dream go? I'd want him to hear this too. He was present during this one and I wanna hear what happened afterwards."

"Right here!" Dream exclaimed from a room connected to the living room, I assumed it must be the kitchen since a pleasant smell of food was wafting from there. I didn't feel hungry in the slightest however, despite not having ate anything in hours. I still felt quite nauseous from the scene I had just witnessed. Seeing the love of my life tear Blade's body to shreds... that wasn't going out of my head any time soon.

Dream exited from the kitchen and sat next to me on the couch, bringing me back into reality. I really didn't want to think about all that blood again. Dream could instantly tell I had seen something very distressing and I could feel his positive vibes radiate all around the area as he put a hand to my shoulder. "What did you see?"

I took a shaky intake of breath, even the air tasted like sweet dreams. "I saw what happened... when me and Nightmare vanished into the VOID. I saw what Ink did..." I weakly muttered, still going over the scene of Ink stabbing Blade over and over again.

Dream's smile completely fell from his face and his eye sockets went completely blank. They looked completely terrifying coming from him, I had never seen them without the stars in them. I leaned a bit more towards Nightmare, and I know he could feel my fear. He snapped in front of Dream's face a couple of times before Dream finally came back from his thoughts.

He could tell he had properly scared me and guilt flooded his face. "I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to scare you. It's just... I never wanted you to see that. I've been doing everything in my power to stop you from going to that timeline but... I failed. I'm really sorry you had to see Ink like that. He didn't want anybody to see that side of him."

Now I was the one putting my hand on Dream's shoulder, I could tell he needed support as well. It must be hard being the one everybody goes to for emotional support and yet no one thinks that you need it as well. I need to ask him how he is more often...

"Uh, I'm kind of out of the loop here. What happened when we disappeared?" Nightmare questioned, bringing our attention back to him. Oh right, he must be really confused.

"Right, um, where to start..."

~~~
I was currently throwing up into a trash can that the skeleton brothers had quickly rushed over to me when they noticed I was about to be sick. I couldn't stand the memories that the retelling of the story had caused. I had never experienced murder to that degree. I had seen Gaster's stone body crack into pieces but that was a lot less gruesome than seeing all of that blood. So much blood...
I felt another wave of sick erupt from my stomach at the thought. Both Night and Dream were rubbing my back in support and Night's other hand was holding my hair up so I didn't get any gross stuff in it. Dream was whispering the rest of the events that I was unable to recount, but my ears were ringing too badly for me to hear what he was saying.
I was coughing and shaking violently, but I think it had stopped. My throat was burning as hot as hellfire, and my breathing was shaky. Dream quickly teleported to grab me a glass of water once he saw that I was finished, leaving me and Nightmare alone for a moment.
"...You alright?" He asked hesitantly, knowing full well that I was clearly not alright. I shot him a raised eyebrow and coughed into the trash can some more. "Of course you're not..." He muttered to himself more than me. He looked extremely deep in thought and didn't even flinch like I did when Dream teleported back right where he was sitting.
"Here you go, this should help your throat." Dream handed me the glass of water which I gulped down without stopping to take a breath. I deeply regretted my decision when I drank it all and began to cough even more. My throat did feel better than from before despite that.
"Thank you..." I said after I had my small coughing fit. I placed the glass on the table in front of me and leaned back on the couch again, trying to relax my tense body. Nightmare shifted the hand that was on my back to be around my shoulders in a halfway-hug so his hand wasn't squished against the couch.
"Are you feeling better?" Dream asked me after grabbing the glass and teleporting it away somewhere. I only nodded in response, my body felt better but my thoughts felt like they were going in a downward spiral. I looked over to Nightmare but he still looked like he was having the deepest thought process ever.
"Night, you okay?" I questioned him with concern when he didn't react to me putting my hand on the back of his shoulder. He didn't respond, he didn't even seem to realize I was talking to him or that anyone was talking at all. He was in an entirely different reality.
"Is this normal?" I turned to ask Dream, who was also looking slightly concernedly towards his brother. He shrugged and answered, "He sometimes does this whenever he's thinking really hard. I suppose it is a lot to take in that Ink... did those things." I shuddered at the memories once more.
Night abruptly turned towards me, seeming slightly back in reality but not quite. "Y/n, could you please tell me what Ink was telling the person you couldn't see?" His voice was rarely ever this serious sounding so I knew he really needed to know the answer.
"Night now isn't the time, she just saw Ink-" Dream began to scold him, but I cut him off before he could go too far. "It's fine Dream, I can talk about it. The feels can wait later. What all do you want to know, Night?"
"Everything. What exactly he said, how he said it, what his body language was, and anything else you can remember."
I took a deep breath and submerged myself in the memory, it was still quite vivid since it only happened a few hours ago. It felt like it's been so much longer though, at least 5 chapters that have been written over the course of two months. It felt like I really was back in time, reliving the moment Ink had teleported on me.
"Well, I was just going to check on Ink because he'd been asleep for a really long time. Two hours later than what was normal for him, I also noticed bags under his eye sockets when he asleep which felt out of the ordinary. When I walked up to the door I heard him say 'You've been acting off, I just want to help'. I didn't feel right listening through the door so I opened it and he was sitting on the bed staring at the wall in front of him. He didn't notice me at first and kept talking, 'You don't have to be miserable Bl-' then whoever he was talking to must've noticed me at the door and told him because he wouldn't of been able to see me."
"I see... I think I have a feeling of just who he was talking to, but please tell me what he did after he saw you." Night instructed me to continue. While I had been recounting my story he had gotten up off the couch to pace back and forth. He looked deep in thought and slightly confident in himself.
"I asked who he was talking to and that's when he started to really panic. His voice was way higher than normal when he told me 'Uh- um- nobody! No body at all!' He was sweating all over the place and he tried to rush past me but I grabbed his arm before he could leave. I told him that 'We don't keep things from each other' and he tried to wiggle free from my grasp. I could feel his SOUL beating a million miles per hour and he was tensing up. He then said something about 'not asking what he was doing', obviously that just made me more suspicious so I tried to be less strict towards him. He seemed to calm down for a moment and then he just... vanished. Teleported away from me. I have no idea where he could even be..."
There was a moment of silence as Nightmare stopped his pacing, absorbing every word like a skeletal sponge. Then, his eye sockets widened in realization at something he must've just thought of. "His SOUL was beating a million miles per hour, huh?" He wondered aloud, having a slightly smug expression on his face. He seemed to have cracked the code.
"Yeah...?" I responded a little confused. What what he coming from? Dream looked equally as puzzled as me as he watched the two of us.
"It's not his SOUL, though. It used to belong to Blade."
"I suppose that's right but it belongs to him now."
"Not necessarily. What if Blade is still attached to it?"
"I have no idea what you mean by that."
"Right, you're still not all that familiar with SOULs. If a human has enough DETERMINATION, they can continue living even after they've died. If you have the most DETERMINATION in the entire timeline, you can reset the timeline to your last 'save point' if you've died. But if you don't have the most but still have a lot of DETERMINATION, you can continue as a sort of ghost-like entity. This is usually the case with a lot of alternate Charas, but I'm sure if Blade had enough DETERMINATION they could do it as well. Which is what I believe the case is."
My mind was swimming with all this new and somewhat startling information. Blade was a ghost? And she was talking to Ink? Why didn't Ink tell me about this? Well, I bet I can answer that last question. Ink would know I would flip out if he told me and bombard him with questions. Or he was doing it for my 'protection'. Whatever the reason, he was in deep shit.
"With that said, I'm going to find Ink and give him a very large PIECE OF MY MIND." Nightmare exclaimed loudly, a furious expression on his face. His magic had been activated and his left eye socket was filled with a bright neon blue flame. It was a dangerous reminder of his old self and I couldn't help but shiver slightly. Nightmare created a portal in front of him and vanished, leaving me and Dream alone together.
