Chapter One: Flight

~Y/n's POV~

Oh how the times have changed.

The first huge shock was the tiny skeleton waiting on a chair outside the sciency-room we just left. He wore a similar cloak to Reaper, except it was pure white (besides a few stains from who knows what). His scarf was almost identical to Geno's, and he almost tripped on it when he rushed to Reaper and Geno.

Both of them were tackled into a group hug by the toddler, and I was left staring in confusion.

"Goth, I thought we told you stay in your room until we were back." Geno said, slightly sternly. But I could see concern in his eyes. I glanced at Ink, whose arm I was hanging onto like a vice, and then back at the small skeleton who I'm guessing was named Goth.

"I-I he-heard a l-loud noise and g-got scared..." Goth stuttered, messing around with his scarf nervously. I didn't even know who this kid was but he was freaking adorable.

"W-what ha-happened?" He added. Geno looked up at me, smiled, and looked back to the skeletal toddler. He couldn't be any older than four.

"You know how we said we were trying to save some friends?" Geno asked, putting a gentle hand on the smaller's head. The toddler nodded, I don't think he's noticed us yet.

"Well, I'd like you to meet Y/n and Nightmare." Geno added, looking up at me and then Nightmare when he said our names. Goth looked up when he mentioned our names and was temporarily frozen in surprise. But then he perked up and rushed over to us, almost tripping again.

My legs were being hugged tightly, and I couldn't help but melt a little. He was just too darn adorable. I bent down so he could properly hug me before he rushed over to Nightmare, who was hiding behind Dream.

This time, Goth jumped into his arms to give him a hug. Nightmare stumbled a little, and nearly dropped the toddler but regained his strength. He awkwardly hugged back, his expression reflecting my confusion.

"We have a lot to catch up on, huh?" I questioned, not really talking to anyone in particular. A few laughs were shared throughout the group and a lot of nods. Goth was placed back on the floor and he bolted for Geno and Reaper again.

Compared to the two adult skeletons, he looked like a fusion between them. I even noticed he had only one eyelight just like Geno. A faint memory of something CORE said a really long time ago sprung into my mind: 'He and Geno are... getting busy.' Well, was this the result of their business? How the hell does a skeleton get pregnant?! Let alone a male skeleton?!?!

"We'll explain everything... how about we get something to eat?" Ink said, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. I nodded, my stomach growling in agreement. 5 whole years of not eating food, simply the idea of eating got my mouth watering.

~~~
I was completely stuffed.
I sighed contentedly after I finished the best meal I've ever eaten. Ink chuckled at my expression and wiped a bit of food off my chin. I thanked him and gave him a quick kiss. I was taking every opportunity into an excuse to kiss him, not that I really needed an excuse. I missed the physical contact so much. Yeah, I wasn't completely deprived of physical touch in the VOID but it was never romantic. Just the occasional hug from Nightmare when we were feeling down, which was often.
I hadn't really been paying attention to the babble that spread throughout the table, due to my entire attention being on the food. Everyone seemed so happy and bubbly, even Poison was looking cheerful. But the most joyous had to be Dream, he was practically bouncing in his seat with the biggest smile I had ever seen on a person's face. I could feel the waves of his positivity in the air. He was talking animatedly with Nightmare, the stars in his eyes bigger than ever. He looked so happy to see his brother again, I couldn't blame him really. How long had it been since they've truly seen each other? Much longer than 5 years.
I yawned widely, me not having got much sleep the previous night. The cold hard ground wasn't a comfortable bed, I don't think my back will ever be the same. Even now it ached against the chair, but I was used to it by now.
Ink suddenly pulled my face closer to his, and he was staring fixedly at my one eye. He had a perplexed but astonished look on his face as he ran a finger around it.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, my voice slightly hoarse from lack of use. Ink didn't say anything for a moment, but then snapped back to reality.
"Your eye... it was really dark when you came out of that machine, but it's super bright now. I didn't know that could happen." Ink answered, blushing a little at how close we were. I put a hand over the one Ink had on my face and stared into his eyes as well. They were shifting into different shapes as he stared back at me. Eventually, both of them landed on two pink hearts. I giggled a little at his expression and gave him another tender kiss, lasting a bit longer than the other ones. I heard someone gag a little, and we pulled apart looking embarrassed.
"Get a room you two." Error said annoyed, looking at us from across the table with an empty plate in front of him. But he didn't really seem to mind, just trying to tease us.
"That doesn't seem like a bad idea. I'm-" I yawned again, "exhausted." I finished, laying my head on Ink's shoulder and sighing contentedly.
"Guess we'll have the party tomorrow? That sounds better actually, we can plan and get the supplies." Lust suddenly said, apparently having eavesdropped on our conversation. I nodded in agreement, not feeling up to a party at all right now. Ink put an arm around me, instantly making me feel cozy.
"Cool, I guess." I muttered, my eyes drooping in exhaustion. Ink chuckled and suddenly lifted me off the ground into a bridal style hold. I hung onto his neck, some of my drowsiness escaping me as my heartbeat quickened before slowing down again.
He carried me all the way to our room, which had hardly changed except that there was a lot of drawings of me taped on the walls, along with what looked like blueprints to a machine that looked awfully like the one I had just escaped from. Ink decided to act as though they weren't there and settled me onto the gloriously comfortable bed. He pulled the blankets over me and got in on the other side.
I instantly went to cuddle with him, our bodies wrapping around each other almost on their own. Our legs were now entwined like pretzels and our arms were tightly around each other. Our faces were centimeters apart, his warm breath hitting my face and making me even more tired.
"Goodnight, babe." Ink said as my eyes slowly closed. He seemed to be tired too, he had some bags under his eyes.
"I love you." I muttered, before drifting into an extremely deep sleep. But I did hear his reply before sleep engulfed me.
"I love you too."
~~~

I instantly knew I was in a dream, no place could look this gorgeous.

There were rolling green hills all around me painted with the most beautiful flowers from across the world, a tall snow peaked mountain was looming at a considerable distance, the skies were a beautiful pale blue with streaks of midnight blue, and a single light lilac wisteria tree was nearby a crystal clear pond. The air felt fresh with the spring breeze and my body felt as light as paper in the wind.

I was wearing a very flowy (f/c) dress that blew gently as some wind rushed through the air. Bright green grass tickled at my bare feet, and I noticed that golden flowers were blooming all around me like ripples in a pond.

I walked over to the pond, golden flowers following in my footsteps. The leaves of the wisteria tree were falling slowly, like they were in slow-motion scene from a movie. Koi fish in all different colors were dancing in the water, their scales shimmering like gold under the sunlight.

"Wow, Dream really outdid himself this time." A familiar voice said behind me, I flinched but beamed up at Ink as he walked towards me. He was still wearing the outfit that he fell asleep in though, but I think he preferred it that way.

"It's beautiful..." I muttered, sitting down at the pond's edge, dipping my feet in the warm water and watching the fish swim up to them to investigate what had caused the disturbance.

"Yeah... and so are you." Ink said sheepishly, sitting down next to me with his legs up towards his chest. I blushed a sunset red, but laid my head on his shoulder like before.

"I missed you... a lot." I said, continuing to watch the fish do their fish business. They had swam off after determining my feet meant no harm.

"I really missed you too. I was so afraid that I had lost you forever. I don't know what I'd do with myself if I couldn't get you back. I'm sure it must've been worse for you though. What was the VOID like?"

I didn't answer for a moment, the VOID was hard to think about. One of the fish had dug up something from the dirt at the bottom and some of the other fish were investigating.

"Awful... hardly anything to do. At least I had Nightmare there to keep me company, but there's only so much you can talk about for 5 years. I can never repay for getting us out."

I turned to face Ink, and I caught a hint of jealousy coming from him. But it was quickly stifled as he gave me a huge hug.

"You don't need to repay me. Just you being here is enough." He muttered into my ear as I nuzzled my face into his super soft scarf.

"I need to do something. Anything." I insisted, pulling away from the hug to give him a determined look.

"Anything?" He questioned with a mischievous look on his face.

"Anything." I repeated, knowing I might regret saying that later. Actually, no, I won't regret it.

"Would you... kiss me?" He asked, a rainbow blush appearing on his cheekbones. I giggled a little and gave him a passionate kiss that seemed to last for ages. I somehow didn't feel the need for air.

"Would you... jump into that pond?" He asked once we pulled away, that mischievous expression growing even more. I glanced at the pond, and dove right into it.

The fish swam quickly away from me, not wanting to be squashed. I laughed at some of the expressions they wore, and miraculously I felt like I could breathe perfectly under here. I guess this is what it's like to be a fish. I looked up and saw the blurred figure of Ink looking down at the waters surface right at me. I swam quickly upwards and tackled him to the ground, spitting water out onto him.

We laughed our heads off, and I had become dry in a matter of seconds. I was still on top of Ink, pinning him to the soft grassy ground. He put his hands on my hips, and I leaned down so our faces were only inches apart.

"Would you... jump off a cliff with me?"

The world suddenly warped around us, shifting into an entirely new landscape. We were on a cliff that rose high above the cotton clouds, the sun was setting in the distance making the sky become a collage of reds, oranges, pinks, and yellows. I got off Ink and stared all around, it was an endless sea of fluffy clouds for miles.

I walked towards the edge of the cliff, some of the rock falling off into the unknown below. I lifted my arms into a wing position, feeling the wind engulf me and blow against my dress. Ink wrapped his arms around me from behind, and we were suddenly reenacting that one scene from the Titanic.

"Ready?" He suddenly asked, wrapping his arms around me even tighter.

"Wha-AHHHHHHH!"

He had pushed us both into the clouds below, the air rushed around us making my hair blow into his face. I continued to scream, but they were more joyful. I knew I couldn't get hurt with Ink.

As the ground grew closer and closer some fear did start to enter my mind. We would splat if we hit it! Just before I got face planted, we shot back into the air again. From the corner of my eye I saw that Ink had suddenly sprouted pastel rainbow colored wings and was soaring us back into the sky.

I laughed in relief, and turned my head to get a better look at Ink's face. He was beaming at me, clearly enjoying himself as much as I was.

"Dreams are a wonderful thing, huh?" He shouted over the deafening sound of the air speeding past us. I nodded and adjusted his grip so that I was facing him instead of the ground below us.

Soon we were above the clouds again, and Ink slowed down so we were softly soaring through the empty sky. I put my hands on his face and stared lovingly into his eyes, I pulled him into another more softer kiss. Fireworks exploded in my stomach at the feeling, and we were suddenly falling again. I didn't break the kiss though, I kept my eyes firmly tight and my grasp firm. Unwanted tears still managed to escape my eyes, simply because of the cold rushing air.

We landed gently on the ground as effortlessly as a feather, Ink being the one to pin me down now. We were still glued together by the mouth, and I don't think we could separate even if we wanted to.

Ink put his hands onto my cheeks and I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, pulling him even closer if that possible.

If this is what true love felt like, I never wanted it to end. But unfortunately, all dreams must come to an end sooner or later. Someone would make sure of that.
