Chapter Five: Escapade

~Y/n's POV~

A week had passed since my arrival and hardly anything has changed since my 5 year absence. I still can't believe it had been that long...

The only few differences was the others weren't coming around as often. There was no reason for them to stay cooped up in the infinite house anymore. They would still visit but only for a few hours and go back home. The only ones who stuck around was Geno, Reaper, and Goth. But that was because they lived here.

I kind of felt bad that we were staying with them, I could tell that they wanted some alone time every once and a while. I wondered why we even stayed, couldn't Ink make us a new house? Like the one we stayed in before we went to the infinite house?

I laid in bed and fantasized about life with just him and me. Oh it would be wonderful to spend time with him without Goth barging in to ask if we had seen some lost toy. I loved the little squirt but he could be damn annoying.

But soon fantasizing got boring, I had done enough of that in the VOID. So many ideas for books or drawings had been made that I wouldn't even know where to begin.

My mind wandered for a while to think of something to do, I was so sick and tired of being bored. Then something clicked, I could finally use my magic again. So that meant...

I suddenly sat upright, Ink flinched at my sudden movement next to me. He had been doodling something for the past 30 minutes while I occasionally watched.

"Something wrong?" He asked, his expression concerned and his eyes turning into question marks.

I didn't answer but just reached my hand out and started to focus with all my might. The previously extinct magic sparked inside of me a few times before roaring to life. I winced slightly at the feeling, I had never felt my magic this strong.

The purple magic flowed towards my arm as an aura appeared around it. My hand was already shaking at this point, the effort just to use magic was intensely strong.

Ink must of realized what I was trying to do and held onto my arm for me and put another hand on my back. I greatly appreciated it but I had to concentrate.

I closed my eyes as I felt my left eye ignite. The burning sensation was stronger than I remembered. But I kept getting distracted, I had to focus on what I wanted.

I felt Ink rubbing my back in support, and I knew I couldn't let him down. I wouldn't let him down.

Sweat was accumulating at the base of my forehead, my arm hurt with the effort of keeping it up despite Ink's help, my eye burned greater than it ever had, but I could feel it starting to summon. I recognized that growl of magic anywhere.

"You're doing an amazing job, Y/n. You've almost got it." Ink's voice sounded like a whisper as my ears started to ring.

Then, when I was at my breaking point, I heard it. An unmistakable roar of life. I collapsed against Ink as I released the breath I didn't even know I was holding. I gasped and nearly choked on the air, I felt him hold onto me tightly and then I felt something poke my back.

I turned around, and there it was. The Gaster Blaster I hadn't seen in half a decade. It looked like it was greatly holding back its excitement, to make sure I was alright.

I regained my breath and held out a hand to touch its nose, and it couldn't resist its excitement any longer.

It started to zoom all across the room, knocking over papers and other art supplies without care. It was just so happy to see me again. It eventually returned to me after burning off some energy and snuggled into my arms. I hugged it tightly, having missed it almost as much as it missed me. I could feel it shaking with bountiful amounts of energy and it just couldn't sit still.

It zoomed out of my grasp and chased all around the room again. It had so much energy stored up from the last 5 years that it didn't even know how to use it. Me and Ink laughed as it got tangled in the blankets and we had to help it get out. It gave us both a giant lick with its pale purple tounge before crashing through the door into the hallway.

Me and Ink looked at each other for a moment, both of us had the collective look of 'oh shit.'

We both bolted after it at once, I nearly toppled over in my haste. We heard the smash of it bursting through a door downstairs and a few shrieks from unknown people.

When we raced down there we saw that the Gaster Blaster had tackled Poison to the ground was lovingly snuggling her while she struggled to push it off her.

"WHAT THE F- GET THIS THING OFF ME!" She screamed, squirming under it as it gave her a slimy lick.

Impulse was off to the side filming the encounter with her phone, silently laughing.  Poison gave her the famous glare she usually had before the Blaster darted toward Impulse.

Surprisingly, it didn't knock her over when it rammed into her. Impulse huffed and placed the phone on the nearby coffee table. The Blaster kept butting into her, trying to make her fall but she wouldn't budge.

She put her hand on it's snout and did a weird motion. She rubbed her hand up, to the right, back down, up again, to the far left, and back to the center. It made the Blaster calm down instantly, and it nearly fell asleep.

"How did you do that?" I asked her, walking over to the drowsy Blaster. It slowly floated back to me, and disappeared into a small flare of purple light with a wave of my hand.

"I've picked up a thing or two after 24 years of having to control them, give or take a few years." She shrugged, acting like it was no big deal. She walked over to Poison and lifted her up bridal style. Poison flushed cherry red in embarrassment and crossed her arms while avoiding eye contact with anyone. Oh my gosh they were adorable together.

I sat down on the couch with a sigh, my head had started to really ache and I was starting to feel exhausted. I probably shouldn't of strained my magic that much.

"Put me down!" Poison groaned, covering her face again. It was still so strange seeing her act like this.

"If you insist~" Impulse said with a wink at the end. Poison's face dropped in realization that she should've chosen her words more carefully. Impulse released her grip on her and almost let her fall face first on the ground, but a purple aura surrounded her that stopped her movements just centimeters above the ground. She was placed down gently, but Poison was madder than ever.

"I hate you so much right now." She pouted, standing up and crossing her arms.

"Love you too~" Impulse teased, pecking her forehead. Poison squealed, cleared her throat in embarrassment, and ran off upstairs (presumably to her room).

I chuckled at her reaction before wincing as my headache grew ever stronger. Ink sat down next to me and wrapped his arm around my middle as I rubbed my head to ease the pain.

"You alright?"

I nodded and flinched again, it was starting to grow unbearable. For some reason my fingers felt numb as well. I swear I could hear a faint ringing in the distance too.

"Overexert yourself? Happens to me sometimes too, I'll get you some water." Impulse said, before disappearing in midair. It was really unnecessary though, considering the kitchen was a mere foot away.

I groaned and leaned into Ink's grasp, I absolutely hated this feeling. I think I might be sick...

Impulse appeared in front of me out of no where, causing both me and Ink to flinch in surprise. She had a tall glass of water that I gladly accepted after recovering from the slight scare.

It was just plain ol' water but it tasted like a miracle. My throat, which was starting to burn, was overjoyed at the refreshing coolness the water brought. My head had stopped pounding for a second, before continuing to hurt. But it did feel slightly less painful. However, the nauseating feeling was still steadily growing. I closed my eyes to try and calm down because stressing was only going to make it worse.

I felt someone touch my head, presumably Impulse because Ink's hand isn't that soft. She held it there for a few seconds before pulling away.

"She has a fever. Definitely overdid her magic. Why did you let her summon a Blaster? You should know how much those things suck the life out of you when not magically adapt." I heard Impulse say to Ink.

"I thought she would be fine, she's never had trouble before." He defended, wrapping his arm tighter around me as I groaned again. The ringing was growing worse.

"It's lucky she doesn't have it any worse, I've seen greater people than her fall to their own magic because they over estimated themselves."

"You haven't seen her fight, she's powerful. A simple Gaster Blaster isn't gonna take her down."

"A simple Gaster Blaster? Blasters are anything but simple. They are complex living beings with a mind of their own that can wield more power than anyone could imagine. But I will concede to you that she is strong, I remember the stories you told about her."

I felt flattered that Ink was talking so highly of me, but I couldn't fight the urge that light headedness was giving me. I slowly fell into the comforting arms of sleep, and all the pain went away.
