"She is what?" A soft voice near me says in disbelief.
"Pregnant, and I am guessing its your baby Kai." Another voice answers, his voice soft and reassuring.
The bed I was in was comfortable, all though my body was sore. It hurt to move but the voices kept on talking until a door closed and the room when silent and I finally groaned as I tried to move, my mind to awake to fall back asleep.
"Song Bird!" The first voice exclaims as strong hands take one of my own and kisses it gently.
"Where...am...I?" I ask, my voice groggy and rough.
"In the hospital wing. You fainted a few hours ago." My eyes open and I see a tired looking Kai, his eyes glossy with un-shed tears.
"Kai?" I whisper, feeling my own tears actually fall down my cheek.
"Shh, its okay, everything is okay now." I feel Kai sit on the bed with me, pulling me to his chest as he cries with me.
My fingers clutch his crisp shirt as my tears and the dirt and grim that has covered my stain the soft white fabric. But he didn't mind and neither did I.
We were together again and thats all that mattered.
We didn't know how long we cried for but after what felt like hours our tears turned to sobbs then we were layig in bed panting for breath.
"I'm sorry." He whispers.
"For what?" I ask, starig into his eyes.
"For not being able to protect you. I've always wanted to protect you since the first time I met you." I look at him confused for a moment.
"But I have only known you for a month." I state, watching his face turn sad.
"I have known you for ten years since choir." He whispers, before caressing my cheek.
"You where like an angel, and when I told you that you said you would-"
"-Rather be a bird." I finish, seeing the young boy I met year ago. It all made sense now. Since the day he bought me I was always Song Bird, never anything else, because this was the boy who made me smile when I was little.
"You're Kaito." I say in awe, getting a chuckle from him.
"Thats the name I used when I wanted to get out of the castle, and one day I heard the choir practice for the Christmas concert and snuck in, thats when I saw you." His face sofened as he kisses me gently, before he continues.
"Ever since then I have been trying to see you again, that day in the shop I was just lookong for fun and didn't expect to find you there, but I am glad I did." He pulls me closer to him, my mind calming as the only thoughts going through my head was how much I loved this man.
"I can come back another time." A voice interrupts and I turn my head to look at Doc.
"How are you feeling Lyra?" He asks, coming to sit on the chair by my bed.
"Better then I've felt in days, just a little sore and tired." I say quietly, snuggling into Alekai.
"Thats to be expected. I just wanted to let you know that you are about three weeks pregnant and that you need something to eat and a hot bath. I suggest the bath first." I laugh at the Doc's words and slowly sit up, feeling Alekai sit up with me, his amr wrapped around my waist.
"I agree with you." I say to the doctor as I slowly slide off the bed and to stand on shaky legs.
"You are not walking on your own!" Kai states as he comes to my side and lifts me up bridal style.
"I can do it on my own." I protest but relax into him, resting my head on his shoulder.
"I know but yoi should be pampered all the time, more now that you are carrying our heir." My heart feels like it bursted with love as I nuzzle his neck, feeling us move closer to the exit with the doctor chuckling.
"You two have three hours till the party, use the time wisely." He calls out.
Kai took us through the secret passageway strait to our bed room where he heads to the bath, helping me undress before his clothes are slipped off and slipping into the water with me in his lap.
"Just relax while I take care of you Song Bird." He mumbles, massaging the water into my skin before he takes the vanilla scented soap and rubbing it into my skin.
He was detailed with his hands and with in half an hour I was relaxed and cleaned, laying back against his chest as his hand rubs my slightly round stomach.
"What do you think it will be?" He asks gently and I smile, placing my hand over his.
"A baby, as long as the baby is healthy I am happy." I say proudly.
An hour passed and, as much as I didn't want to, we got out to get ready for the coronation party.
"I don't want to leave this room." I state for the umpteenth time.
"I know, but tonight and tomorrow we can stay in bed." He whispers in my ear.
"Besides you're beautiful and the world should know it." He adds and leads me out of the room, through the hall ways and down to the ball room.
The doors open as we arrive and a butler silences the room
"His Majesty, King Alekai Nightwood of Symphrain and Lady Lyra Roselette have arrived." The crowd claps and I smile at them, waving the way Arebess had taught me.
"Silent please, I have an announcement." Kai says over the crowd, the room falling deathly silent.
"As you all know a King is only as good as he can be with out his Queen to help." He starts, turning his head to look at me.
"That is why I am glad to have found my Queen." With that he gets down on one knee and pulls out a box, opening it to reveal the most stunning diamond ring I have ever saw.
"Lyra-"
"Yes, yes. A thousand times yes." I say before he could ask, tears of joy falling down my face.
"Let me ask it first." He laughs out.
"Lyra, will you be my bride, my Queen, and my wife?" He asks and all I could do was nodd.
"What was that?" He asked.
"Yes." I say and he places the ring on my finger before scoopig me into his arms and kissing me passionately, the crowd cheering us on.
The night went on and I stayed by Kai until the party ended.
As I got ready for bed, realization hits me and I turn to look at Kai.
"Before we get married I need to find my friends." His face falls and I tell him the night I last saw them at the club before I woke up at the shop, tears now forming in my eyes.
"Shhh, I will find them, for you Songbird, I will make sure they are here and safe.
His words reassure me and I manage to fall asleep in his arms, but worry still nagged at me while I thought about my friends, Amie and Jaida, and what was hapening to them.
