"Good book?" I jump and drop my book as a voice from behind me startles me. It was not Alekai's and it took everything in me not to scream.
Slowly I got up and turned to face the owner of that voice. It was the man from earlier.
"Sorry for my rude behavior from earlier. I should have waited to introduce myself before barging in unannounced. " I stay silent as the man comes closer, the sofa being my only barrier.
I quickly looked at the pups to see their eyes fixed on the man, staying silent. I smile. At least I had them to help me.
"My name is Lord Malcolm, I am Lady Linnatte's brother."
His outburst made sence now. Linnate was Alekai's fiancee, and that thought sent a stabbing pain through my heart.
I swallowed hard and took a steadying breath, my eyes meeting Malcolm's.
"I don't care who you are or who your family is. This is a private room and you should not be here." My voice was calm and authoritative, the opposite of how I was feeling. I kept a careful eye on the man as I slowly moved towards the desk, my hand resting just beside the button that would send Alekai's guards to my aid.
"Actually, I am here to send a message to the Prince, with you out of the way he would have no choice in marrying Linny." With that he lunges at me, and I press the button.
Two minutes and help will be here.
I think as I jump out of the way, Malcolm slaming into the desk where I once stood, the pups jumping in and biting where they could before standing between me and him, their fur standing on end and their teeth bared as they growl.
Sixty seconds.
I was glad that Alekai had tought me how to get the guards here in record time. The dogs lunge at Malcolm, but to my horror they let out a yelp as he punches them out of the air and to the ground.
I run, but he manages to grab me, forcing me to bend over the back of the sofa.
"Maybe I'll have some fun before I kill you." He says menacingly, his hands reaching up into my shirt to grope me.
I scream, loud and long as I cry.
"Shut the hell up." He barks out, punching the side of my face and sending me to the ground, my head pounding as I cry, screaming once more.
"HANDS IN THE AIR." The door slams open and relief floods me as the guards pour in, surrounding me protectively.
"Lyra are you okay?" I feel Alekai's arms suround me. I hadn't noticed that he had come in with the guards when they came pouring in, but I was so glad he was here.
"I-I'm fine." I try to reassure him, but my voice cracks and I cry harder, Alekai pulling me closer and I cling to him, crying hard because I had just escaped death's grip.
After a moment, I realized that two wet noses were poking the skin that Malcolm had exposed and I pull away from Alekai to let the pups come in for a hug.
"They protected me from him." I say, running my hands over their sides, happy that they seem to have no broken bones.
"Good, I got them for that reason. Maybe we should breed them and give you an army of dower wolves." I laugh, knowing he was joking to make me feel better, and it did.
We watched as the guards searched Malcolm from where we sat on the ground, a pile of small knives being retrieved from his clothes. Then he was cuffed and taken away, only a few guards remaining to watch over the prince and me.
"You have a black eye forming." One of the guards said, pointing at my right eye. I nodd and slightly touch the bruising area, wincing.
"He hit you?"
"He was going to rape and kill me Kai."
That stoped what ever the prince was going to say as he took my face in his hand gently, kissing the bruising skin then my lips.
"You called me Kai, only the Doc calls me Kai. Does that mean thats my nick name?" He had a look of concern on his face, but a ghost of a smile played at the corners of his lips.
"For now it is." This gained me a breath takig smile as he helped me to my feet.
"Adam, I want you to be Lyra's guard from now on."
"It would be an honor, since she finally gave us a reason to arrest that ass hole." It was the guard who had told me about the black eye, and I smile at him.
"Thank you." I say, holding my hand out and shaking his.
After that, Alekai leads me to the secret staircase and we head to the room with the pups folowing close behind.
"Tonight we can just relax." He says as he sits me on the bed.
"But I don't want to relax."
"Lyra you were nearly killed."
"But I am still here."
"Stop arguing with me and just do as I say."
"No." With that I stand up and press my lips to Alekai's. I was nearly raped and killed no more then twenty minutes ago but I wanted this. Needed this sence of our normal.
As if finally figuring this out, he sighs and kisses me back, holding me close and leading me back to the bed.
By the time we were under the covers we were both naked, his kisses and hands taking their time to move around my body.
This was different then the other times we had screwed, more slow and sensual.
We took our time exloring each others body, careful not to touch the bruised side of my face.
Finally he thrusted into me, filling me with slow movements.
It was blissful and we lasted for a few hours before our release, a happy darkness seeping in as we fall asleep.
