Chapter 11
"She triped me for fun when I walked by her on my way to Alekai's library." I exlaimed, answering Ali's question to what happened a few moments ago as she hands me a bag of ice for my thobbing ankle. It had been a week now and I had gotten into a rhythm after the night of the party, finding out there were more sides to the Prince then his cold cruel one from the first day.
Slowly I place the bag on my ankle, gasping from the pain
"I think you might have a sprain." Ali says sighing, turning to one of the kitchen girls and handing her a note.
"Take this to the Prince immediately." She orders her as I watch the girl take a hidden stairway.
"One day I will be able to go through there without getting lost." I sigh, stifling a groan as I accidentally move my ankle, the pain shooting through me like jagged knives.
"For now we focus on helping you to the hospital wing of the palace." My friend says with concern, checking on my swollen ankle. It was badly bruised and every time a slight pressure was placed on it, it took everything in me not to pass out. I had never been good with pain and this was just horrible.
"Didn't she pour wine all over that dress yesterday?" Came a voice from behind me. It was Ali's daughter Neena.
"Yes, Lady Linnate has it out for Lyra because she stands in her way of the crown's money." This has been the main topic of our discussions for the past few days since Ali had stayed for the rest of the argument between Alekai and the King a week ago.
"I told you, I don't want to know what he said." I gasp as Neena pokes my ankle, glaring at the thirteen year old who just smiled innocently at me. Since we had met three days ago she has acted like a little sister, always hovering around me and copying how I moved. It was quite adorable really since I never had any siblings, but in this situation I would have loved to tie her to a chair and left her while my foot was taken care of.
"Where is she?" Came a frantic male voice as the doors burst open, making me jump and cry out, my foot throbbing from that movement.
"Lyra, are you okay?" Alekai says, kneeling down beside me and wiping my tears away.
"Lady Linnate tripped her and if I hadn't had been on my way to pick flowers for the Queen's sitting room I wouldn't have seen the whole thing happen." Neena said, placing the bag of ice on my ankle again.
"Thats the fifth incident with her this week." He growls out in frustration, carefully lifting my foot to examine it. I gasp as he turns it, biting on my lip as more tears run down my face.
"S-stop it please." I whimper, my eyes pleading. I sigh when he sets my foot down gently, looking at me with concerned eyes.
"Lets get the doctor to look at you." He slowly stands and carefully picks me up in his arms bridal style, making sure my foot didn't move much.
"Bite down on my shirt if you have too." He whispers as my face scrunches up with pain.
I bury my face into his chest, my hands clentching his shirt as he rushed through the halls as quick as he could while trying not to move my foot much.
"Almost there."I hear him say, a wave of dizziness washing over me.
The smell of a sterile room hits my nose as I hear his footsteps slow down.
"Doctor Ridley, my Song Bird has an injured foot, that snake came after her." He calls out, placing me on the comfortable bed gently, sitting behind me and holding me close.
"What did Linatte do to you this time" Doctor Ridley says, wobbling over to us.
"She triped me and I think I sprained my ankle." I say quietly, clinging to Alekai. The Doctor was a man in his early sixties and had treated me a few days ago after Linnate had put a powder in my jacket that had caused me to have an unbearable rash that was so ichy I nearly scratched till I bled. But after soaking in the Doctor's remedy I felt amazing and my skin was so soft afterwards.
Frowning I watch as he runs his fingers over the bruised skin, applying slight pressure.
"We don't need an x-ray to know that your ankle is sprained, but we can fix that up." I loved how Ridley knew just what to do. He was a great doctor, and a kind one. I smile slightly glad that he didn't cause me much pain.
"Kai, carry her into the next room and I will be right there." I feel myself being lifted by Alekai, his movements slow and careful as he takes me to the 'spa room' as I call it, sitting down on a chair with me in his lap. Shortly afterwards Doctor Ridley comes in, carrying a jar with a blue liquid.
"Place your foot in the tub please." He motions to the spa tub meant for feet, water slowly bubbling. I nodd and -with Alekai's help- slowly place my foot into the soothing water. The doctor pours the liquid into the tub, the water turning blue.
I feel a cooling sensation in my ankle as the medicine works its way in, sighing and relaxing into the prince as the pain dulls. "Keep your foot in there for an hour. I will come back to check on it. Feel free to put your other foot in" Doctor Ridley says, walking out of the room
"That gives us time to ourselves." Alekai whispers, his hands moving my hair off to the side as his lips press against my neck, kissing me softly.
"But I can't move. " I whisper, clutching the arms of the chair as his hands slip around to fondle my breasts.
"Thats okay, I can just play with you while you sit like a good girl." He nips my neck and I moan, leaning into him.
Since we had an hour to kill I guess I can go with the flow...
