Chapter 8

Captain

"I have been offended," Alicia snapped as she crossed her arms angrily and glared up at her superior. Regina mirrored her glare.

"You are not going to captain a pirate ship! It's dangerous," she snapped. Ali frowned.

"You insult my abilities, you really do," Alicia groaned and glanced to Henry, who was particularly quiet.

"I promise I'll be careful. I doubt anyone would want to mess with me," Ali said confidently and crossed her arms.

"If you get hurt, I swear-"

"I'll be careful, Regina, just please let me go. If u want me to stay with you, I have to cut loose ends!" She insisted. The queen rolled her eyes.

"That one-handed pirate will rue the day he let you borrow his ship," she grunted and walked away, Henry following his mother close.

Killian Jones had allowed Alicia Knights to borrow his ship and crew while he was away on his honeymoon. Ali jumped at the opportunity to sail the sea once again for the last time. She had never been a captain, just a ship hand, but despite being a background character, Alicia still had her tales of incomplete revenge. She feared what her hidden enemies would do as soon as she gained power.

So she planned to stop them before they could get to her first.

"It's time Pan," Felix muttered to his leader as they stood outside the castle. Peter nodded slowly before glancing at the lost boys.

"This trip was worth it, boys. But now we must return to the island. A new player is about to enter the game," Peter announced with a smirk. The boys hummed in anticipation before Pan turned to Felix again.

"Inform the royal family we're leaving already. Make up an excuse and meet us at the docks. We're going back to Neverland."

Felix nodded before trudging away. Peter took charge and began to head into the woods, heading towards the dock with the lost boys following close.

For years and years, Peter had been missing something from his life. Looking for something that the island couldn't provide anymore.

More power.

The Manticore of the island told him so. The Manticore told him the island had nothing else to offer him. He needed a new source of magic.

And what better magic than the future queen of the Enchanted Forest?

"Here," Regina muttered as she handed Alicia a beautiful necklace. It had a liquid inside and it was covered in diamonds from the mines of the Thousand Waters Cave. Alicia admired it.

"What's is that?" She asked, referring to the unknown liquid inside the necklace. Regina clicked her tongue before clipping it around Alicia's neck.

"It is a special liquid by the name of Myriall. It comes from the highest mountain in the land of the fairies."

"What does it do?"

"Protects you. Say someone casts a spell on you, the liquid in the necklace will not allow you to react towards the spell. It's practically like a protection spell, but better."

Alicia nodded but couldn't help but feel a tingle of offense. Regina didn't seem to believe she could take care of herself, even though she spent most of her life alone.

"You do realize I grew up on the streets, yes? I know how to protect myself."

"I don't care," Regina snapped, "it's also a tracking device. If you press the dangling diamond, then it will send a signal to me that you are in danger. And I can help you. Okay?"

Alicia nodded again.

"Thank you, Regina."

The gift was enough for Alicia to know that although Regina might not approve of her trip, she still cared and wanted Ali to stay safe. It was her way of giving her permission to leave.

"I promise I'll be back soon."

Alicia watched carefully as the crew worked hard against the currents. She didn't want to interrupt them as they seemed keen on pleasing her. Alicia sighed as she checked her sword, a longtime gift from Killian himself. Ali sat on a barrel as one of the crew members approached her.

"Madam Alicia?"

"Call me Ali, Smee."

"Captain, where are we heading?"

Alicia sighed and checked her compass.

"Tortuga, I suppose. You reckon Sparrow will be there?"

"If you want my honesty, he'd be an idiot to be hiding in plain sight, Captain."

Alicia hummed and nodded for him to leave to his duties. Again alone, Ali came to the conclusion that sailing was duller than she remembered. There was a lot of sitting around and waiting, two things Alicia did not like to do. Granted, when she was a part of a crew, she wasn't the captain. As the only female on the ship, she was instantly classified as a surgeon as soon as she was of age. Before that, she was one of the powder monkeys. She hated being a powder monkey, as it was considered the most dangerous job on the ship. She worked in the lower deck until she turned 13. She was then a surgeon for the crew.

Alicia huffed as she looked through her maps. After consulting with her navigator and checking the sextant, she went into her quarters. Her powers were beginning to feel overwhelmed from lack of usage. Ali laid on her cot and began to toss around a ball of pent up energy. She entered a stage of relaxation, one that she didn't want to be disturbed from. Unfortunately, her peace didn't last and a loud knock was heard at her door. The ball of energy diminished into the air and Alicia growled.

"What do you want?"

"Captain Alicia, we have arrived at Tortuga!"

~

Alicia stood at the jibboom of the ship and stared out to the damned island called Tortuga. It was the smelliest place she had ever and will ever encounter. She could already smell the nastiness. Ali hopped down from the jibboom.

"Drop the mainsail! Release the anchor! Be ready to land on Tortuga!" She commanded and everyone rushed to obey. Alicia could see a happy gleam in the crew's eyes as she mentioned Tortuga. She huffed, thinking they would all be drunk off their logs by the end of the day.

"Sir Hilmore, watch the Jolly Roger while we're gone. Giggles, Roy, stay with him."

"Yes, Captain."

Alicia watched carefully as two crew members rowed the small boats. The cold ocean fluttered against the rowboat as they finally reached the docks. A rope was secured around the peg of the boat and the pirates piled out. Alicia was the last to get off and she pushed her way through to the front of her group. Turning swiftly on her boots, she narrowed her eyes and stared at her group.

"Consider this a token of my gratitude; you will all be free to do as you wish. A night off to be with a wench and drink yourself to the end of the world. Do whatever your tiny heart's content, but hear this: if any of you idiots see Jack Sparrow you will immediately inform me. If I find out any of you have spotted him and neglected to tell me, I will find out and it will not be pretty," Alicia didn't typically resort to threatening people, but she knew this was needed. With a final glare and an annoyed breath, Ali waved her hand.

"Leave. And try not to get yourselves killed."

With that, the men scrambled away. Alicia was left alone on the dock. Securing her gun and sword, she fixed her hat and began to wander through the loud, stinky streets of the island. Tortuga was a pirates island, always rowdy and full of chaos. She watched as a man laughed loudly in front of her before he collapsed on the floor, clutching onto a bottle of rum. Ali scrunched her nose at him and scoffed.

To think she once ran with pirates. She was surprised she wasn't abused when she was younger. A miracle, truly, but she knew she had her captain to thank.

Alicia continued her travel through Tortuga until she came to a small opening, in front of an overcrowded bar. Next to it, she saw a pigs den with a wooden fence around it. Inside she saw three pigs rolling around in the mud with a man sleeping not far from them. Alicia peered at the man and saw a bottle glued to his hand as well. She shook her head. She grabbed a bucket, filled it quickly with water, and flung it at the man. He stuttered loudly and rose to his feet as the drunkenness was washed away.

"Who the bloody socks has-"

He stopped quickly when he saw the girl standing in front of him. Thinking he was seeing illusions, he squinted his eyes and gasped.

"Miss Alicia, is that really you?"

Alicia cocked her neck and clicked her tongue.

"It is, Sir Gibbs. My, how far you have fallen to be sleeping with the pigs, I thought you had more dignity, Gibbs," she mused but Gibbs didn't take it to offense. He merely chuckled before wiping his hands down his pants and stepping out from the den.

"I heard you are next for the crown of Misthaven."

"Where'd you hear that rumor?" She said, trying to avoid anyone else nearby hearing him.

"Through the grapevine, Miss Knights," Gibbs said. Alicia grumbled and tossed her hair back.

"Instead of going around gossiping like a southern belle wrapped in the finest silk, give me a hand with my mission."

Gibbs nodded slowly.

"What exactly are we doing?"

"Tracking down Jack Sparrow. I have a couple things to say to him."

Gibbs sighed and again nodded.

"I am at your service, Captain."
