Chapter 28

Flynn Rider

"What is this and why is it gooey?" Peter asked the next morning as he poked the bowl in front of him. Alicia sighed.

"Stop poking it. It's oatmeal."

"More like dragons guts," he mumbled as he pushed the bowl away. Alicia scowled and snatched it from him before placing it into the sink. The princess wanted to try and make something for Peter since he had been cooking and buying her things.

The only problem? Alicia sucked at cooking. She was never taught nor given the chance to learn.

On the pirate ship, there was always a cook already at hand who made the meals for the entire crew.

In Storybrooke, she ate what she could from the scraps she found and after uniting with Regina, the queen made food every day for Alicia.

And in the Enchanted Forest, the castle had the best chefs that money could buy.

Alicia had never once picked up a spatula or a pot. It truly was a slap in the face when she realized she couldn't even properly make oatmeal.

Pan quickly kicked her out of the kitchen so he could cook breakfast instead.

"Never cook again, princess."

Alicia huffed and took her usual spot at the table.

"Did you try to use your magic?" Pan asked. Alicia nodded.

"Not even magic can make my food edible. I should just bury myself in a hole and die," she said dramatically. Peter chuckled as he briefly cleaned up her mess before beginning to cook her an omelet.

He drank his tea quietly as Alicia inhaled down her food. He was concerned she wasn't chewing enough and would choke. He was fairly surprised when Alicia chugged the last of her juice and seemed to be fine.

"How was it?" Peter asked with a raised eyebrow. Ali crossed her arms and hummed. Although she thought the food was amazing, she didn't want Peter's ego to get any bigger than it already was.

"It was alright," Alicia judged with a careless shrug. Peter laughed and shook his head as he picked up her dirty plate.

"You are something else."

Alicia stuck her tongue out at him.

As Peter cleaned around, the princess could feel pins beginning to grow in her uneasy body. She was desperate to begin the day doing new things. She didn't want to be inside.

As quietly as she could, Alicia escaped out the back door. She bounced out into the garden where Hatter had the long tea table. She wanted to know where the table ended. The closer she got to the end, the more noise she heard. Ali peeked over the tabletop to see a small mouse running between the cups. A strange-looking rabbit thing anxious looked around from the opposite side. His eyes darted back and forth as he giggled madly.

At the center end of the table was the Mad Hatter. He had a cup in his hand and waved his arms around.

"Ah! Miss Alicia! The girl who likes to play with monsters! Join us, please, only the maddest of the mad join us!"

"Who is this child?" The mouse asked. Alicia peered down at the small creature and offered him a finger to shake.

"Just Peter Pan's traveling companion. She's Flynn Rider's sister," the Hatter whispered loudly.

"She's related to Rich Man Rider? Think she's as crazy as he is?" The mouse asked and the hare giggled. Alicia frowned but sat at one of the oversized chairs. The Hatter handed her a teacup and Alicia sipped it slowly.

"I'm not crazy," Alicia snarked and the mouse laughed.

"That's exactly what a crazy person would way," he retorted. Alicia didn't say anything in response and instead watched them interact. It was a curious thing to Alicia, how the Hatter, the hare, and the mouse carried their own conversations. The princess couldn't keep up with their strange conversations. It was too confusing.

After taking in two cups of tea, she could hear Peter calling out to her. Alicia quickly stood up and walked back to the boy waiting for her.

The tea partiers didn't even notice she had left their table.

"I'm bored," Alicia mumbled as she sat on the couch next to Pan. He pats her head softly, completely ignoring her, and instead continued to read his book. Alicia huffed and peered over his shoulder to try and read whatever he was. Peter took notice and leaned over so she could read as well.

They were silently reading, both in their own little cloud until the front door burst open, scaring Alicia.

"Hatter, I'm back!"

A boy around Alicia's age walked in, a bag in one of his hands and a sword in the other. His bright, blue eyes landed on Alicia and Peter. The boy's grip on his sword tightened as he glanced at the strangers. He looked around before clearing his throat.

"Are you thieves?"

"Are you Flynn Rider?" Peter asked, completely ignoring his question.

"I asked a question first," the boy said stubbornly and aimed the sword at then. Peter got defensive and instantly pushed Alicia behind his back. The young princess peeked from over her protector's shoulders. Pan scowled and rolled his eyes.

"The two of you really are related. Both stubborn and stupid," he mumbled. Alicia heard him and smacked his arm.

Before anyone could say another word, the Mad Hatter entered his house again. He frowned when he saw Flynn with his sword drawn and quickly stepped close to him.

"Dear friend, it would be wise to not aim your sword at a lady. Especially not his lady. Peter's possessive," Tarrant whispered. Flynn reluctantly placed his weapon away.

Peter wrapped his arm around Alicia and yanked her forward, completely exposing her to the two Wonderlanders.

"Do you know who this is?" Peter asked. Flynn stared at Alicia with narrowed eyes. What felt like a year was merely seconds as Flynn tried to place a name to the face before him. Why the girl looked so familiar, he couldn't say. But he knew something about her was familiar.

Peter finally grew tired of waiting for Flynn's tiny brain to work.

"This is your twin sister, Flynn Rider, her name is-"

"Alicia Knights," Flynn breathed the princess' name with wide eyes as realization finally settled in. But while the two siblings greeted each other in a desperate hug, all Pan could think of was how the hell this boy knew of his princess?

"Thank you, Hatter," Alicia said softly as he handed her a cup of tea. She sipped her tea carefully before turning to her brother.

"Do you happen to know anything about our parents?" She asked. Flynn sighed and shook his head.

"No. Unfortunately, whatever trace I did have was lost. I tried to track them down four years ago, but whatever lead I had was a fake. Besides, any magical object I've tried to use had rendered itself useless."

"How did you know about Alicia? "

"A wizard told me about you. I never knew his name. He came out of nowhere and disappeared as quickly as he appeared. He never told me about our parents though."

"So we were separated by birth?" Alicia asked and Flynn nodded.

"It would seem so. From what I gathered, our parents, whoever they may be, sent me to Wonderland-"

"And they sent me to the Caribbean..." Alicia mumbled, knowing that for as long as she could remember, she had grown up on the streets of Port Royal, a place no child should ever grow up on.

"I met my best friend on that port," Ali muttered, remembering her friend Jack Sparrow.

"A pirate port... I've heard of Port Royal. They say it's a place filtered with crime," Flynn commented and Alicia chuckled.

"Sound about right. Only the lowest scum of the land go there and Tortuga Island."

"And yet you grew up there?" He questioned.

"I was a pirate for the longest time. Sailed the sea with a notorious pirate. But he was soon overthrown and the crew dismantled. I joined another platoon though-"

"And then became engaged to a filthy pirate by the name of Jack Sparrow," Peter grumped with his arms crossed. The princess rolled her eyes and pinched his arm.

"That was a long time ago."

"You were engaged?" Flynn's eyes widened but before Alicia could answer, Peter butt in again.

"At the age of 15."

"You shut you!" Ali snapped at him, "It is completely normal to be married at a young age. I didn't see anyone stopping me!"

"That's because they all feared the two of you. I bet they all thought you had rabies or something," Pan responded bitterly. Alicia again pinched Peter's arm but this time, she made sure to leave a bruise.

"I swear, if you keep insulting me, you're going to sleep out in the gardens," she threatened. Peter immediately shut his mouth and stayed silent. He knew better than to challenge Alicia, especially when she had her magic back at full use. With her abilities back, she was just as strong as he was, maybe even stronger, if she was smart enough to use her powers properly.

Flynn watched the two squabble among themselves, completely ignoring the other two that sat with them. His careful eyes stared at the duo and wondered if they were together or not. It was hard to say.

Peter and Alicia's back and forth was an interesting thing for Flynn.

He had heard of Peter Pan. Not exactly good things, but it was enough for Flynn to question him being around his sister.

"So what now?" Alicia questioned after her squabble with Pan. Flynn grinned at his sister.

"Do you like sweets, little sis?"
