PERSONALITY
Seokyoung comes off as incredibly awkward—it's pretty obvious right off that he hasn't figured out how to speak casually. He's a very serious person, and highly intelligent. Some would say he was made to be an adult too quickly, and they'd probably be right. Seokyoung is pretty irritable, though he tries not to let it get the better of him, and despite that, he's a very trustworthy person.

BACKGROUND

Seokyoung has always been seen as a prodigy. Born a miracle baby to parents who were giving up hope of having children, he was doted on from his first breath and treated as though he was some kind of gift from God. His parents had high hopes for him, especially his mother, who put Seokyoung in their church choir when he was only six years old.
At eight years old, Seokyoung was cast in a minor role in a movie—his mother took him to the audition, calling for boys under ten who could sing, with a slim hope that he would get in—and that's where Seokyoung's career began. He, according to reviews of that first movie, stole every scene he was in with his natural childish charm and angelic voice. From there, he was offered another movie part, then another, then a recurring role on a well-loved drama. Seokyoung was adored as a child actor.
Behind the scenes, Seokyoung was also getting proper singing and dancing lessons alongside doing online school. The agency he was signed to (the agency his mother had signed him to) wanted to take advantage of his singing talent and mold him into an actor-idol as soon as possible. And they got their wish—at age fifteen, Seokyoung debuted as a solo idol under the stage name Valentine Park, chosen (for him) because he was born on Valentine's Day. There was quite the buzz for his idol debut, and most of it was good. Much of the country viewed Seokyoung as a sweet younger brother, and now a generation of young girls could see him as the perfect boyfriend! It went off without a hitch.
Seokyoung spent almost a decade doing this—being an actor, being an idol, winning awards and performing and being on all the time—and, quite frankly, he got tired. He's only twenty-five, and he's as tired as a man three times his age.
So, earlier this year, Seokyoung announced that the album he was set to release in March would be his final album, that he was stepping out of the spotlight that had ruled his life since he was eight years old. After promoting that album, Seokyoung took several months off to just... relax. He went on vacation, a real vacation, for the first time ever, and got to rest.
Then, in the fall, Seokyoung started looking for a job. He knew he wanted to still work in entertainment, as it's about the only thing he's actually good at, but wasn't sure in what capacity until he saw an opening for the manager of an upcoming soloist under HQ Entertainment. Something about this role in particular spoke to Seokyoung—being able to work with and protect a young artist, to be there for her in all the ways his stage parent of a mother wasn't for him, appealed to Seokyoung.

- Seokyoung was quite popular when he was a working idol and actor, and many fans were incredibly disappointed by his choice to retire.
- He never graduated high school.
- Seokyoung was an actor for seventeen years, and an idol for nearly ten years. He was in twenty movies, seven dramas, and various other acting roles, and has released 24 mini-albums and five full-length albums.
- He's an only child, and has very few friends his own age.
- Seokyoung is allergic to oranges.
- He fired his mother as his manager when he became a legal adult. They haven't talked much since.
