BACKGROUND

Jisung is an only child, born to two perfectly average parents on Jeju Island. His life was pretty normal for the most part, at least at first. When he was six, his parents moved to North Carolina, where he took on the English name Liam, though he's always liked going by Jisung better.
At the age of eight, it was discovered that Jisung had an autoimmune disorder affecting his body's antibody production, which made the nearly-continual infections he got make sense. His doctors encouraged him to try and be a normal kid, but his mom became a bit of a helicopter parent. She began to keep a very close eye on him, and refused to allow him to do normal kid things, like play soccer with his friends or run around outside. She was worried—she didn't want anything to happen to Jisung. But to him, it was stifling and restrictive.
Jisung became interested in art around this age because he had nothing else to do, and often used it as a medium to get out his frustration. Piano lessons—one on one, at his house because his mom wouldn't let him around other kids much—were one of the few times Jisung was able to interact with others in a regular way. At the very least, Jisung was allowed to go to a regular high school, thanks to his father putting his foot down. That was a good experience for Jisung, especially in terms of avoiding getting sick.
At nineteen, after graduating high school, Jisung moved back to South Korea, attending SNU for a music degree. Auditioning for an entertainment company after only a year wasn't exactly in Jisung's plans, but he saw flyers around his department for open auditions at HQ, which was known for good music, and he decided—why the fuck not? So far, he'd consider it the best choice he's ever made.

jisung getting together with raff (who he often calls sunshine) was a process. jisung had a bad breakup right before moving to korea that left him feeling unwanted and as though everyone would leave him, and it took time for his walls to come down, even as he grew closer to raff day by day. eventually, he was comfortable and healed enough to admit what had probably been true for a while—that he loved raff, and couldn't imagine anyone better.
