Union, 3rd POV
Night had settled over Union Academy, casting the imposing structure in a cloak of darkness. The League of Villains, a collection of dangerous individuals with varying motives, gathered near the perimeter, hidden from the watchful eyes of the academy's security.
Cinder Fall, their leader for this mission, scanned the fortress-like building, her amber eyes reflecting the faint glow of distant streetlights. Beside her, Emerald Sustrai manipulated her semblance, creating illusory images to distract any wandering patrols. Mercury Black, ever the silent enforcer, kept a lookout, his sharp gaze missing nothing, which won't be hard given how loud mouth these people are.
"Hmm," Cinder said as she rubbed her chin
"Whats up," Emerald asked her
"Don't know, but something fells off about tonight, be ready for anything."
Toga Himiko, ever the chaotic presence, whispered to herself, her eyes gleaming with excitement. Dabi, his face partially obscured by his blue flames, leaned against a tree, his calm demeanor masking the rage simmering beneath the surface. Twice, as always, muttered to himself in a chaotic duality.
"Union, Union...so many heroes, so much blood to spill...," she muttered with glee
"We need to find a way in without getting caught," Dabi said,"Union's security is tighter than usual."
"It's impossible to get in! No, it's totally possible, we just need a plan," Twice said
Raynare and Freed, both eager to cause chaos, lingered near the back, itching to strike against the academy's hallowed halls.
"Hmm," Raynare said,"hey Freed, do you feel...I don't know, like something is gonna happen tonight?"
"Besides us killing Devils," Freed asked, rubbing his ear
"Yeah, cause I don't know why but I feel like...we're gonna so something...unusual."
"Whatever you say, as long as we do our mission it's fine by me.
As the group continued to strategize, a faint sound reached Toga's ears. It was a soft, almost imperceptible click, followed by the rustle of clothing, and the sounds of liquid sloshing in a glass bottle. Curious, she motioned for the others to be silent and gestured toward the source of the noise. They moved silently through the shadows, careful not to alert anyone or the mission will be over.
The sound grew louder as they approached the edge of the academy grounds, near a secluded clearing. There, standing alone under the dim light of a nearby lamp, was a young man with a pistol in hand, the barrel pressed against his temple and a few glass liquor bottles on the floor.
It was Tyler Skelton.
His hand trembled as he held the gun, tears streaming down his face, eyebags piled on his eyes and had a bruised right eyes. His eyes were empty, hollow, as if every ounce of hope had been drained from him, like he just gave up on as he pushed the barrel against his head. The League members froze, their mission forgotten for a moment as they watched the scene unfold.
Dabi's expression remained impassive, but a flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes. Twice's usual banter ceased entirely, and even the unpredictable Toga seemed momentarily subdued. But it was Raynare who moved first, her wings fluttering softly as she stepped into the light.
"Stop," she said, her voice firm but not unkind.
Tyler flinched, his grip on the gun tightening, but he didn't pull the trigger. Raynare slowly approached him, her dark eyes locked on his, and when she saw the dull and lifeless blue eyes, she saw a kid who lost everything. She frowned, as she suddenly felt something she hasn't had for humans in years, compassion and worry.
"You don't want to do this," she continued, her tone almost gentle,"you think this is the end, but it's not. Not for someone like you."
"Why do you care," Tyler's voice cracked, a mixture of despair and bitterness,"you're a villain. You'd probably enjoy watching this, seeing a kid who lost everything in this fucked up world God abandoned."
"No, we're not here to watch someone throw their life away," Raynare shook her head,"Heroes...villains...it doesn't matter. Letting you die like this would be too easy. But something tells me, you're better than that."
"She's right," Freed, ever the sadistic one, surprisingly agreed,"but if you want revenge or justice, you won't find it by blowing your head off kid."
Tyler's hand began to lower, the words slowly breaking through the fog of his despair. He looked at the gun, seeing it like a piece of metal and then the gun loosened until, finally, it fell from his hand, landing with a dull thud on the ground. He looked at the two, then suddenly sees more of the LOV members, making him eye them as he grabbed another liquor bottle
"I think you've had enough kid," Dabi said as he grabbed it from him,"geez kid how many did you buy?"
"What makes you think I bought them," Tyler said as he leans on the bench,"one of the teachers has a secret stash in his room, and the insomniac jackass wonders why he wants to sleep so much."
"Well kid, whats your name," Freed asked him, being weirdly nice
"Tyler...Tyler Skelton."
"Well Tyler," Cinder said as she smiled,"why don't you come with us, maybe you can tell us why you decided to almost blow your head off."
Tyler looked at her, his dull eyes looking right into her amber eyes, and all he can see was how beautiful, and similar, they were to someone he loved. But he just sighed and got up, wobbling a bit as he was still a bit drunk to say the least from the drinking. Twice and Mercury had to hook his arms around their shoulders, helping him get straight and walk around
"Oof, when was the last time you showered," Mercury asked
"Last week," Tyler admitted,"things haven't been...I just stopped caring about everything."
"Well don't worry, you can explain once we get to our hideout," Raynare said to him, smiling a bit
"Yeah...yeah okay."
Soon they were off, walking away as Toga looked at Union, a fierce glare aimed at it. She made a cut motion with her thumb on her throat, then followed the others to Juniors Bar
Junior's Bar
The dim, smoky atmosphere of Junior's bar provided a familiar sense of solace for the usual crowd of miscreants, mercenaries, and those who lived on the fringe. It was a place where deals were made, alliances were forged, and the weight of the outside world could be temporarily set aside. At a secluded table near the back, Tyler Skelton sat, nursing a stiff black sup of coffee, clearing his drunken state
His usually sharp, calculating eyes were dulled by the events of the last few months, haunted by memories that wouldn't leave him. Surrounding him were the familiar faces of Cinder, Emerald, Mercury, Toga, Dabi, Twice, Raynare, and Freed. They had come to see what had drawn Tyler so deep into his own despair, as Roman Torchwick and Neo watching from the side.
"So, why did you...why did you try to kill yourself," Emerald asked as she sat across from him
Tyler took a deep breath, the glass shaking slightly in his hand as he began to speak.
"It all started when I enrolled at Union," he said,"I was just a kid back then, happy, naive... Powerless."
Emerald leaned in, her eyes softening slightly, though she kept her usual guarded demeanor.
"What happened to you there," she asked, though the answer seemed painfully clear.
Tyler took another sip of his drink, the coffee burning its way down his throat.
"They hated me for it. I wasn't like them-no Quirk, Charka, Sacred Gear or Semblance, just my mind. I thought that would be enough, but to them... I was worthless. They bullied me, isolated me... just because I dared to think differently."
"Figures, Heroes like to think they're better than everyone else," Mercury scoffed, leaning back in his chair, his expression a mix of disdain and understanding,"they don't like it when someone doesn't fit their mold."
Tyler nodded, his eyes distant as he continued.
"I...I fell in love, her name was Blake Belladonna. She was the one good thing I had left. But even that was taken from me."
His voice broke, and he took a moment to steady himself, sipping more coffee.
"Her own team, the people who should've had her back, manipulated her. They couldn't stand us being together, so they twisted her mind until she...until she couldn't take it anymore."
Toga, usually so bubbly and fixated on bloodshed, fell uncharacteristically silent. Her large eyes focused intently on Tyler, her lips curling into a frown.
"They hurt her because of you," she asked in disbelief,"that's just... cruel. It wasn't your fault, you know. People who do that... they're the real monsters."
Twice, for once, seemed unified in his thoughts, his voice solemn as he muttered
"It's sick. Heroes, villains, what's the difference when they do stuff like that," he asked,"no one should have to go through that...but now you're here. You're not alone."
Tyler managed a small, bitter smile, though it didn't reach his eyes.
"And then there was the hero who should have saved my parents and sister. But instead, he let them die, just so he could soak in the spotlight. While he was basking in the cheers, my family was being burned alive. And I... I couldn't do a damn thing to save them, instead I was told I couldn't do shit cause I was Powerless."
Dabi's blue eyes flickered with the flame of his own past trauma, a kind of quiet rage simmering beneath his cool exterior.
"Heroes like that aren't heroes," he said as he messed with his flames,"they're just frauds, using their power to prop up a broken system. I know what it's like to watch something you cared for die and be powerless to stop it. It changes you."
Raynare crossed her arms, her expression darkening as she listened. She was thinking these were supposed to be Gods greatest creations, even though she just saw them as mere flesh bags for her to kill when they signed a contract with Devils to get what they want. But she started to think they deserved more then the righteous fury she was gonna deliver
"Powerless, they called you, but it's those with power who did nothing," she said,"they let it happen because they thought they were above consequence. They thought you were beneath them."
Freed, who had been silent until now, leaned forward, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
"But look at you now," he said as he smiled,"you seem like a tough kid, and from what I can tell pretty smart. So how abut you use that in a...less nice way?"
Cinder, who had been quietly observing, placed a hand on Tyler's shoulder. Her touch was cold, yet there was an odd sense of understanding in her gaze. Tyler looked at her, their eyes meeting again tonight as Tyler can't help but feel at peace when she looks at him, those amber eyes...she had the same kind as Blake.
"We're all here because we've been wronged by the world in one way or another," Cinder said,"some may see our reasons are petty, pathetic and stupid cause to them it doesn't or make sense. But you've lost everything, Tyler. But that doesn't make you weak-it makes you dangerous. You have the mind, the will, and now... the purpose. Together, maybe we can tear down the facade those so-called heroes hide behind."
Tyler looked around the table, at the collection of individuals who, despite their own dark natures or reasonings, had shown him more empathy and understanding than anyone else ever had. For the first time in a long while, the overwhelming sense of loneliness that had plagued him began to lift, replaced by a smoldering anger and a desire for retribution.
He finished his coffee off, sighing as he looked at them, then looked at Cinder. His dull eyes now had a small shine back in them, he stood up, cracking his back as he looked at Cinder, who had to admit he was tall...and cute
"If I'm gonna help you and get some payback for what they did to me" he said,"I'm gonna need my equipment, my gear and my notes. It's all at Union, but I have to grab somethings from my apartment."
"You have a dorm room and an apartment," Toga asked
"It was mostly for me and...Blake, to hide and cuddle when we wanted to get away or go on dates. Also where I hide things I don't want Union or Atlas to rip my designs and technology."
"Well kid if you want something stolen, allow me to help," Roman said as he stood up,"me and Neo here are the best one for infiltration and acquisitions!"
Neo smiled as she bowed a bit, but she smiled at him and blew him a kiss on her hand to him. Tyler nodded, a bland face as he walked to the door, suddenly joined by Dabi, Emerald and Raynare. He didn't ask, as long as they don't ask to many questions its fine, he may be working with them, but doesn't trust them yet. Also he wondered how Roman will grab his things
Union, 3rd POV
Under the cover of night, a ragtag group of villains lead by Roman assembled near Union Academy, each from a different world but united by a common purpose: to grab Tyler belongings from the academy and, maybe, cause a little chaos along the way. It wasn't exactly a high-stakes mission, but it was one they could have fun with.
"This should be a simple task," Riser Phenex said, with his usual arrogance, took the lead,"we get in, grab the items, and get out, but. If we happen to teach a few of those arrogant Union students a lesson, all the better."
"Simple? Nothing's ever simple! It'll be easy! But also difficult!" Twice argued with himself, causing the others to roll their eyes.
"Oh, oh! Can I pull some pranks? I'm really good at them, you know," Tobi asked, hopping around excitedly, waving his hand.
Deidara sighed, adjusting the bag of explosives slung over his shoulder.
"Tobi, you're always pulling pranks," he said,"let's just make sure we don't blow the place up...unless we really need to, hm."
"Pranks? Blood? Both sound like fun," Toga said, grinning ear to ear, spun a knife in her hand,"I've got a few ideas for Bakugo, that explosive jerk."
Meanwhile, Roman Torchwick and Neo, from RWBY, stood off to the side, clearly more interested in what valuable loot they might stumble upon than any pranks. Roman twirled his cane, a smirk plastered on his face.
"Let's make this quick, Neo," Roman said,"I'm not getting caught in this hellhole. But if we get to mess with RWBY and JNPR along the way, I won't complain."
With the plan-or lack thereof-set, the group moved toward the academy's entrance, Tobi and Twice taking the lead in their usual bumbling fashion.
Inside Union Academy, the villains slipped into the darkened hallways of Union with surprising ease, thanks in part to Neo's semblance creating illusions of empty corridors behind them. It wasn't long before they reached Tyler's room, but before they could get to work, Tobi had already started fiddling with the nearby lockers.
"Hey, Deidara, let's set up a little surprise for Sasuke, I bet he'll never see this coming, yeah," Tobi giggled, planting a fake explosive device inside one of the lockers
Deidara grinned, giving his usual "hm" of approval. Riser, meanwhile, was busy using his flames to melt the locks off some of the lockers, throwing open the locker and finding a stash of embarrassing magazines
"This will teach Issei to mess with me," he muttered,"oh, this is perfect."
He left the locker open with the magazines strewn about for everyone to see. Twice, on the other hand, had somehow convinced himself and Himiko to fill Mineta's locker with various sticky traps.
"He thinks he's such a ladies' man/Let's see him get out of this mess," Twice said
"I'd love to see his reaction when he gets a load of this," Himiko said, adding a few strategically placed knives, grinning wickedly.
Roman, ever the opportunist, found himself in the weapon storage room, eyeing some of the gear left behind by the students. Neo was looking at Yang Xio Longs gauntlets, smirking as she stuffed some cake pops she carried, leaving a surprise for the bimbo brawler.
"Well, well, what do we have here," Roman asked,"these will fetch a nice price on the black market,"
He looked at Neo, who nodded silently, already pocketing a few items herself, besides team RWY weapons as she was leaving some surprises for them. As the group continued their "mission," they didn't stop at simple pranks. Deidara left a few of his miniature clay spiders in RWBY's and JNPR's rooms, programmed to explode into a harmless-but extremely messy-powder when triggered.
"A little art for the morning, yeah," he chuckled to himself.
Tobi had gone full prank mode, leaving random notes signed "Madara" in various lockers and classrooms, each with ominous but completely ridiculous messages.
"They'll be so confused, heehee," he said
The grand finale, however, was a group effort. Together, they managed to reroute the academy's PA system into playing a looped recording of Riser's voice, taunting the Rias Peerage with a series of insults and challenges.
"Rias Gremory, you and your pathetic team are nothing compared to the great Riser Phenex! Face me if you dare, but I doubt you have the courage!"
Twice, caught up in the moment, added his own voice to the recording.
"Yeah! And Issei, you're a perv! That's right, I said it! Twice!"
As they wrapped up, Roman looked around at the chaos they had sown with a satisfied grin.
"I'd say that's a job well done," he said,"now, let's get out of here before anyone catches on."
With Tyler's belongings in tow and the academy primed for a morning of confusion and outrage, the villains slipped back into the shadows, their mission accomplished and their spirits lifted by the night of shenanigans. Soon they make it back to the bar, where Tyler had returned with the others, as Cinder finished speaking with Salem, informing her of the situation developing
"How did it go," Cinder asked Roman
"Without a hitch, as expected from Vale Gentleman Thief," Roman said as he and the others laid the stuff down
"You sure didn't have a lot in your room," Tobi said as he handed him something,"also...got these for ya."
Tyler looked and saw it was all the pictures of him, Blake and his family together. All the happy moments and memories, everything he had reasons to live for and keep going in this life, but now they were gone...and now he is gonna make them pay for everything they took from him. He looked at Tobi, nodding in appreciation for what he did, he may not have smiled, but Tobi knew
"So Tyler," Deidara asked as he sat across from him,"I was wondering, what kinda of name will you just? Cause no doubt you want people knowing it's you."
"I've thought about that, and I remembered something from a story Obbleck told me," he said,"Obbleck was one of the good ones, said that he reminded me of the Roman God Vulcan, how he forged great weapons for the gods."
"Vul-can, oohh I like it," Toga said with a smile
"Impressive," Raynare said,"if Vulcan was here he would be a little flattered by this."
"Yeah well, to me it's just a moniker, how I'm gonna make these asshole pay for not only what they did to me, but countless other innocent people. I'll purge this world in the fires of my creation, burning away the corruption and decay."
He grabbed a mask he made back then, as a joke if he wanted to be like Iron-Man. A normal no one who became a hero by building a weapon that made him a Hero to the masses. But for Tyler...it was a mask that will install fear and make this world be forged by the flames he will start. He placed the mask on, sealing it as he looked at the others, the voice modulator activating
"And from the ashes, I'll forge a new era-one where power is earned, not given, and strength is tempered by fire."
This is the Rise of Vulcan, the Villain of Creation.
