Chapter 23 | The raspy breathing
After me and Patricia had finished our general chatter Shadow walked over to us both.
"Alexis can I talk to you for a second?" He questioned in his usual gruff tone of voice.
"Yeah sure" I replied putting on a slight smile. With no further interaction Shadow turned and walked over to his computer.
"Hey maybe he wants to talk about taking your relationship a step further" Patricia insinuated with a slightly tired smirk. Patricia looked down and at my right forearm "you should really get that bandaged" Patricia commented.
I returned the smile and looked at my cut forearm. Blood seeped through my coat creating a cascading crimson down my arm.
Nonetheless I ignore the cut and walked over to Shadow to avoid the awkward encounter with Patricia and initiated a conversation with Shadow by saying "so what did you want?" My tone sounded ruder than I expected.
"Well I need you to go find Elliot Anderson's brother" Shadow asked in a low gruff voice.
"Okay, sure am I going with Elliot then?" I asked.
"No" He replied sternly back.
"Why? if I'm going to find his brother wouldn't it make sense to go with someone in his family?" I questioned.
"Yeah but I need to prepare him on the procedure" Shadow explained.
"Wait are you putting him in a coma? Like Michael" I asked.
"Yes I've explained the procedure now I need to get him ready for the drug, so that's why he can not go with you, do you understand?" Shadow responded in a seemingly sarcastic tone.
"No need to be sarcastic. So where am I going to find Elliot's brother?" I responded hostility clear in my voice.
Shadow exhaled and responded plainly with "here," and then he handed me a piece of paper and my taser. Angered by his rudeness I snatched them both out of his hands and walked out of The Bunker.
Quickly, I walked out of the warehouse my blood heating in my veins due to the annoyance. I walked for about ten minutes aimlessly before looking at the paper Shadow had given me.
Upon the paper said the date which said today's date and the location of Elliot's brother and general information about his brother: Elliot's brothers name was Sean, he was the same age as Elliot being that they were twins, aged eighteen.
The page continued on but I skipped to the part where Sean was living currently.
Skimming across the page I discovered that Sean lived with his brother in his family house accompanied by their mother and father, also it said they had previously lived with their older brother...Tom Anderson. Also known as the man who had attacked me that night The end of days killing game started.
Begrudgingly, I walked a short distance until I reached a small sized detached house stood along the left side of the road. The house had it's front door on the left side of the front wall, with a large window on the right side, on the second floor there were two large windows. On the left side of the house was a small garage and on the drive was an old silver and scratched car with dirt doted around on the car, the house itself looked broken down and in disrepair as if not looked after or even maintained in the slightest.
I approached the front door with was white in colour and plastic in material, I then pressed the small button door bell and within a minute the door swung open.
Behind the door was a young man a little older than me he had dirty blonde hair atop his head that was cut short, accompanied by emerald green eyes, he had a small nose along with thick eyebrows. The man was almost the spitting image of Elliot so I presumed that the man in front of me was Sean Anderson younger brother of Tom Anderson.
Sean wore a thin grey short sleeved shirt that outlined his high pectorals with his arms poking out from his sleeves they looked like small but think tree branches, Sean also had a pair of blue jeans and black shoes in his feet.
What shocked him the most was the beeping that rang out from both of our pockets as we both suddenly realised we both were participants.
Our eyes locked in a stare, as if the situation was different it could be considered romantic or love at first sight... But that was not the case.
Sean moved back fast and shut the door in my face slamming creating a loud sound. My body reacted and before he could lock the door, using my right shoulder barged in the door pushing Sean out of the way and letting me enter his home.
My mind blocked out all distractions and focused in on Sean who bolted for the back door, as if on instinct I followed him barely two feet behind him. Once outside Sean tripped and I stopped chasing.
"Stop I am not going to hurt you!" I screamed to Sean who was getting up from the floor.
"WHO ARE YOU!" Sean screeched back as he held his hands up defensively.
"My name is Alexis Monroe and--" I tried to speak but Sean cut me off.
"Oh god you're going to kill me! Aren't you! like you killed Tom!" He spurted. His words stung like knives, I thought no one knew who Tom Attacked, but his family knew. They knew I killed him, complete strangers knew I took their child or their brother away.
"That was not my fault!" I tried to explain but from the fierce look on Sean's face he did not believe me.
Sean lunged at me and on instinct I spun to the right dodging him and then I reached into my pocket and grabbed my taser, but Sean had already lunged at me again this time knocking me to the ground with an unnatural amount of force and pure adrenaline fuelled strength!
My head pounded profusely and I barely held my consciousness. But in the time I had been held down Sean had grabbed a pole laying on the ground and prepared to strike me with it.
Luckily, I managed to grab my pocket knife and knock the oncoming pole away from my head. Next I crawled to my feet as Sean prepared to hit me again but I threw whatever I could at him (that being the pocket knife) which collided with Sean's pole.
Without leaving him time to recover I ran at him tackling him to the ground but Sean got back up within seconds! We both stood there both of us clearly tired but Sean suddenly charged as if suffering no fatigue and charged at me.
Thankfully, I ducked down out the way while he collided with a brick wall. The most miraculous thing was that Sean broke the bricks of the wall creating a huge crack to splinter through it and suffering no exhaustion at all!
Suddenly, Sean grasped his shirt in the centre of his chest and began to breath heavily and collapsed.
"What's wrong!" I yelled at him as I crouched beside him panicked.
"Uhhh!!" He barely rasped.
"What do you need!" I shouted again.
"Uhhh pen- oran-ge penn!" He rasped almost in audibly.
I nodded and ran into his house to find an orange pen. I rummaged through everything in the room until I found a thin injector pen that was the colour orange, I grabbed the pen and returned outside.
"Okay what do I do?" I asked Sean still suffering whilst trying to regain any breath!
"Uhhhh sh- sh- SHOULDER!" He rasped and finally screamed desperately.
So I removed the injector's needle cap and stabbed it into his shoulder and pressed the button and Sean's breath returned to him. While he regained his breath I waited in silence.
"Th- thank you" Sean stuttered, he'd clearly calmed down since his prior outburst.
"Your welcome" I responded.
"So I guess you're not trying to kill me?" Sean responded nervously.
"Yeah if I wanted you dead I wouldn't of given you this!" I joked back cracking a slight smile and holding the injector pen out towards Sean.
"Thanks" he responded giving a slight smile and taking the pen graciously.
"What just happened here?" I asked.
Sean looked at me then at the ground as if wondering if he should open up to me. "Well I have a heart condition where if my heart beat too fast the pressure builds up and potentially my veins explode and I die! Well that's the gist anyway." Sean explained..
"Oh that explains a lot" I replied still nervous but happy I saved his life, I needed a win after everything.
"Wait why are you here if not to kill me?" Sean questioned.
"Well your brother Elliot asked me to pick you up and take you to him to resolve our predicament" I said as I held up the PTD referring to the killing game.
"Oh right, I see" Sean replied as he returned to his silence.
We waited in silence for about five minutes.
"Alright where are we going?" Sean stood up and asked.
"To the Bunker" I replied.
"What's the Bunker?" Sean replied confusion clear on his face.
I spent the next few minutes explaining the whole situation and I eventually convinced him to come with me. We then both walked to The Bunker.
