This is it Beatrix thought as she took a deep cleansing breath i can do this. With that she gathered herself and entered the auditorium where she & the other students would be welcomed into their new lives as members of the Etherian Sorcerer's Guild.

It had been a uneventful journey from her home in Greenvale. Though that was largely due to the nature of the journey. They had been given a final goodbye with their loved ones before the instructors gathered them together & transported the whole up into the floating city.

The sensation of being teleported was strange. She had never felt someone else's magic flow through her like that. She wasn't sure she could describe it. It had somehow felt profoundly unnatural yet also like the most natural thing in the world. "it's going to take time to get used to that" Beatrix thought to herself when they materialized at their destination.

She had spent the time between their arrival & the start of the ceremony doing her favorite past time. Reading one of her favorite books about magic for the thousandth time while being sure to attract as little attention to herself as possible until the chiming bells signaled the start of the festivities.

She had just found herself a seat when the lights around the auditorium faded. Suddenly a great burst of light erupted from the stage temporarily blinding a many students, herself included. By the time she had blinked the effects away the light came back on revealing an elderly human man standing in the spot of the eruption.

"A heartfelt welcome to you" the old man's voice carried throughout the great hall. "Welcome to your new home. I am Candor. It is my honor to be be the head of the Etherian Sorcerer's Guild. It shall also be my honor to, with the aide of our expert faculty, guide you along the path of the magic user" at this a round of applause broke out which Candor allowed to die down before continuing.

"My friends, I am going to be honest with you. The path you are about to walk can be greatly rewarding it's true. But it can also be frustrating, bewildering & yes, even dangerous. It must be walked with caution, with diligence and most importantly with respect." he paused to allow his words to sink in. When he continued it was with a tone of polite firmness.

"The education you are about to undergo is based off centuries of tradition & shall be implemented by instructors with years if not decades of experience. You may not always understand why you are being asked to do something at first. You may feel like your education isn't proceeding at the correct pace. Please know that you are free to bring any questions regarding the curriculum to the faculty at anytime & that your concerns shall be heard & addressed."

Beatrix could sense the end of the address coming.

"But please trust that we are acting in the manner we deem best for you. Your safety is our utmost priority even ahead of your education. Your parents made a great sacrifice allowing you to come here & we intend to treat that sacrifice with the respect it deserves." He paused one final time. "Now students, you've all had a long day already, and you certainly didn't come here to listen to an old man prattle on. You know doubt wish to see your new room, meet your new roommate & get your affairs settled. So I leave you with this. Tomorrow you take the first step on the path to your destiny, but only you may determine the nature of that destiny. Welcome to Mystacor students, i expect great things from all of you"

And with that he finished and, with a kindly wave, left the stage as the instructors began currosing the students to the appropriate dormitory Beatrix felt an energy she had never felt before. Any doubts she held before were gone and she could think only of the "great things" Candor spoke of and what part she may play in them.
