Chapter 6

To Ju Ningning, everything was just pretense.

But at least when she steps into the stage, in the limelight, facing the admiring gazes of many, she feels like a whole new person. A person lovable, a person worth of their attention.

This was probably what she lives for. It's hard to let go of it when growing up she lacked the love, attention, and care from her parents.

This has been why she entered the industry. At least here, she could be loved because of her face, her talents, her skills, and even unintentionally captivating actions.

Not everything she shows on cam is true, but not everything is false either.

Everyone wants the people around them to see the best version of them.

What's in demand currently in the industry are those that show their 'real' character and attitude. But all if this is kind of hypocritical as when one acts in a way that most people disagree with, one could be canceled and lose his/her fame in a span of minutes.

She has been very careful and smoothly sailing in the industry from her teens to her early twenties, until one day.

She's an idol who's been quite in demand for the past few years and was naturally invited to be a host at an idol show.

She was the kind of girl who prefers male friends over girls and could easily hold a conversation with a man - although unintentionally, sometimes, she would sound flirty.

In fact, her manager had warned her about it. To not be too comfortable with her co-idols.

As inevitably, she might get caught in fire from the crazy fans that male idols have.

This has been the reason why on-cam, she would only talk to her male friends very much younger than her that they'd call her sister, or men older than her enough to be her father.

In fact, she is quite a likeable person.

But this was also the reason why she got into trouble.

One of the shows participant was a boy from a up and coming boy group from a rising entertainment company.

He was cute and was quite a charmer. He was three years younger than Ju Ningning, and she had created a wholesome relationship with him, treating him as her younger brother.

Undoubtedly, with two idols who have quite a favorable personalities interact, it created a comfortable atmosphere on the set. At first, the fans found their interactions adorable and really liked their current setup.

However, at one of the latest episode of the idol show, Dauntless, that male idol had been quite forward towards her.

It stirred some trouble especially when the male idol had not called her sister, even though he always had in the previous episodes. He was known to be a funny but respectable idol, and it immediately sparked his fans' attention when he did something different from the usual.

He, actually liked her. He confessed backstage after the episode, but Ju Ningning frankly told him that she only treated him as a younger brother. But he didn't back down and instead pursued her relentlessly.

Ju Ningning had no choice but to deal with it by acting as if he was not doing anything unusual - for fear that it'd cause unnecessary drama.

She had told her manager about it, and asked if she could withdraw from the show. As expected though, the manager turned down her request.

Although it would be detrimental to her career if things got out of hands, she's too far into the program that she can't just back out out of the blue.

This has been the only wrong decision her manager has ever committed throughout her career. Something that her manager came to regret later on.

Moon, was the stage name of the male idol. In the next episode, she suddenly noticed something in the set. The male idol had now acted brazenly and didn't hold back one bit on expressing his admiration towards her.

The show's director actually agreed to Moon's request to set them in as a CP instead of just brother and sister.

Apparently, the director had two main reasons to accept his request. One, it would definitely push the show on trending. And two, Moon's background was actually quite strong. He came from a family of famous businessmen and he was one of it's potential successors.

He was only playing around in the industry, squeezing every bit of time he had to have his youth.

It turned out that he was quite serious about Ju Ningning and had planned to date her to marry. He haven't talked to his family about it yet, but his family had been urging him to get into a relationship or better yet, marry so that he'll have a better standing when he enters the business world.

It was believed in the business industry that men who are married and have a well-managed family are good at handling business matters alongside their personal life, and are most ideal for cooperation.

Otherwise, those who have mistresses would be the type of businessmen to cooperate with but not fully depended on as they are unable to manage their won lives well, which means they couldn't be expected to manage their businesses well.

Anyway, back to the show, Moon was caught doing a lot of suspicious things towards Ju Ningning that were more than the border that brothers and sisters should have.

There were a lot of zoomed in and focused camera shots directed at Moon looking lovingly at Ju Ningning. Him trying to discretely hold her hand, putting his arms around her shoulders, always asking for her thoughts, and being super attentive on her needs like when she's thirsty or hungry.

It didn't make things any better when Moon changed his bio on Weibo to 'she got my heart' so suddenly.

What's worse was that the company couldn't do anything about their artist as he refused to change back his bio.

Moon and Ju Ningning were getting a little too hot on the searches at this time and have garnered more hate than support. Then, days later, things got even worse as she was accused of tempting her juniors, and no matter how hard her fans tried to defend her, her reputation was tarnished.

She couldn't wash away it either, as she couldn't defend her self with an 'acceptable' reason. One way or another, she had interacted with the idol, and although unintentional, she still had something to do with it.

In fact, she understood his fans' and the netizen's reaction. She understood it so much that she knew they wouldn't accept her reason, even if it was really unintentional.

In the end, Ju Ningning was shelved off by the company.

Her contract term was ending anyway, so the company decided to not continue her contract, and left her out cold when they saw that there was no way her reputation could be recovered.

In fact, Moon couldn't do anything about it either, because the more he tries to explain, the more his fans would push Ju Ningning to the edge.

He hated himself so much for his incompetence that he decided to ultimately leave the group, get out of the entertainment industry, and go back to his family to make a name for himself in the future.

A reputation so strong that people wouldn't be able to interfere with his life.
