Chapter 19- qualifying rounds
I awoke from a state of concentration by the loud chattering.
Today was the day the competition for the spiritual pond would open.
People will compete with the people of the same rank until only 3 contestants were left from all the battles and each would enter a pond based on the rank. ( basically who entered first. First year, junior and senior).
The ponds contained years of hard work of peak level experts who gathered much of the best material to throw into the pond until it condensed into a pond that would boost one's cultivation speed by a large margin.
Each contestant can only stay for 5 month but for them it was worth 5 years of cultivation.
I wanted to take that chance and improve my own strength.
Most of the people of the same year weren't my match but there were many dark horses (I assume you know this but it is like a person hiding their strength I'm not sure this is the complete explanation though) hidden in this crowd yet to be revealed with the same or even more power than myself.
The chattering people's voices came to an stop once an old looking man with profound eyes stepped onto the stone ground. "I assume you all came for the spiritual pond" he said with a casual look.
"Today is the day, every 5 years this pond filled with thousands of years of hard work by our ancestors and put to use" he shouted as the loud sounds of claps rang through the stadium.
When they quieted down he continued speaking and divided the groups into six stadium with 2 belonging to each rank. I was in stadium 5.
This was the qualifying rounds where only 50 people of each rank could be left out of the number close to 200.
Fights were already breaking out and I was looking around until I saw a girl in stadium 6, she had pristine blue eyes and long wavy white hair. It wasn't her appearance that shocked me but rather her performance, her wrists were like snakes holding a not too small but not so long either sword stabbing at her opponent accurately and like my predictions she won.
I quickly returned my focus back to the stage and saw a young man with a ignorant look on his face as he approached me but sadly returned with a head that swelled like buns and a pair of panda eyes.
After sighing I moved on to the unfortunate guy who had a written future. This time it was more of a well, calm guy with blue hair. He didn't look like some prestigious young master but rather a more well raised child with a great upbringing.
This time I took out my dagger and ran it across his shirt creating a well cut. He didn't look so rich with much armour but still a great fighter because it didn't cause a cut to him and while I was pondering he took the chance to swing his long sword at me with much force but fortunately I jumped away on time and at that point I realized he was a strong opponent.
(To classify not all losers are disqualified but instead dragged out when they are unconscious, have serious injuries or went out of bounds in the first case he was knocked out)
