My jaw literally felt like it would fall off if I didn't stop smiling. For the past three hours I was standing here smiling like a fool in this dress that makes me look like a princess. Ugh I hate it. While mom and three other designers fussed over me what they forgot to tell me was that everyone would only know who I am next week once I am on stage with pa, sitting on the throne. 

So here I am standing at the doorway of the castle smiling and greeting alphas, with my eyes a weird shade of muddy brown. The type that I used to wear as contacts when I was in school. I was greeting the new alpha of the black shade pack. He was a weird dude, all he did was growl and his beta who was even weirder seemed to understand his growls and translated, that or they were using the pack link to communicate and I was the weird one. None the less alpha Adrian was a weird fellow. I heard he lost control of his wolf years ago since he didn't meet his mate and felt the connection brake, which meant she was either dead or well, she was dead. I felt pity for the dude. I could see in his eyes how he was struggling his wolf from growing rouge and attacking everything. 

Hailey who was beside me the whole time flinched when he let out another growl. It was even inhumane than a wolf's growl. Seeing his internal struggle I decided to help him. I handed a piece of paper that had 0directions to my office to the beta and told him to collect some things from there at eight. I had a plan to help the alpha and I would see to it.

Alpha Adrian was just going and I thought he was the last alpha when another car, this one a limo rolled into the driveway. I rolled my eyes. So far, the alpha's that rolled in limos were the ones that showed off the most. I froze when I saw who stepped out of the car. I mentally slapped myself. He was an alpha, of course, he would come. Yes, my friends out stepped none other than my stupid ex-mate Marcus. I refused the urge to growl. I heard Hailey whimper next to me. Since max and Hailey finished the mating I think he felt her emotions and came storming in. he growled once he saw why she was scared I pulled Hailey behind the pillar where she knelt and put her head between her legs. Max was livid and standing stone still waiting for Marcus to come up so he could beat him black blue.

"max stand down. Act like you don't know anything"

"he hurt mate! Must save mate! Kill mutt!"

"shit! Simon give max back control. Brother, you need to listen. We cannot hurt him he is alpha. And I have a plan for revenge that will hurt him ten times more than Hailey ever felt."

Slowly I felt max come back to his senses but his hands were still in fists. When he finally reached the threshold of the castle, there was a series of howl from outside. Him being the idiot ignored them and continued on. He locked eyes with me and his eyes held confusion that changed into wicked gleam and he held a smirk on his face.

"my! Look who we have here, a rejected piece of shit. What are you doing here? Cleaning the floors!"

And he bursts into laughter. I have a permanent scowl on my face that stays there even when I see the source of the growls coming closer till they were right behind him. I knelt on the floor and the fool thought it was for him and his smirk grew.

"bow like the peasant you are, bitch! I am an alpha and I deserve nothing but the best."

"I am certain you are an alpha but just for the comment you made you don't deserve anything but a whoop on the ass."

I looked at his face and saw as the smirk fall away, replaced by a fearful expression. No doubt he could feel the hot acidic breath on the back of his neck that belonged to none other than a whole pack of hellhounds. Vicious creatures that survived on drinking molten fire and eating fresh souls from hell. Behind them was none other than the king of hell and my uncle the devil. In the flesh.

I saw Marcus turn back and I gave him credit he didn't pee his pants or jump high in the air. He just got a fake glare on his face and acted like he was angry.

"how dare you? I am an alpha you do not get to disrespect me and get away with it. I am the queens special guest I will not be treated like that by you. I can have you beheaded. And get these dogs away from me."

Hades just gave a fake laugh

"oh! The queen can try but boy she can't behead me. Stop bowing Lisa, you too beta boy."

"what is going on here?"

Right on cue ma came in. I gave a little smirk to Max. he knew that smirk meant I was ready for some fun. I bowed at ma's feet and she looked at me like I was crazy. I just mind linked her to play along.

"my lady. This is the last alpha. He demands special treatment since he is your special guest. I was just showing him where his room is."

Hades gave a little snicker but covered it up with a cough. Ma just gave a forced smile.

"of course you are lily's boy. Welcome. But know this all people are given equal treatment here. Nobody is special. Lisa child who is the other man."

Hades swooped in at that moment.

"the names hades. My, I didn't know the future queen of werewolves was such a beauty. What are you? In your mid-teens? My! Such a young beauty!"

Max and I were trying not to laugh but Marcus's face was turning red. I didn't know was it because of ma's taunt or the attention moving off him.

"hey, that's my wife you ass!"

"Alas! All the true beauties are taken by the hunks. What about me? I'm a hunk too. I need a woman!"

Ma was giggling and pa angrily snatched her away from Hades. I let a giggle slip and pulled hades back.

"stop it you will get me kicked out!"

"you should do just that your highness. This man was disrespecting your mate, sir. He should be punished! In fact, let me do it."

With that, he jumped and half shifted his hands so his claws were out. But hades didn't move from next to me. His eyes briefly changed color and Marcus was frozen midair. He couldn't move his body, just his head and he was turning red. From fear or anger or embarrassment I didn't know but he was turning cherry red. I refused the urge to laugh.

"permission to speak your highness?"

Pa quirked an eyebrow but nodded.

"as I was just going to make introductions. This is my uncle, Hades. He was invited by the princess. She is good friends with him."

"well then, it is nice to meet you, Mr. Hades. Please follow me. I will show where you will be staying."

Hades and pa left with hades giving Marcus one last look and Marcus gave him a glare. I call one of the soldiers by mind link and when he comes I hand him the keys to Marcus's room. Like hell, I would go show him around. Over my dead body. Without another word I turn and leave with max in tow. I just teleported Hailey to the other room so she could come too. As soon as I am out of sight I shift into my wolf and run out a window smashing the glass and run till I reach a cliff. With a single tear falling from my eyes I let out a heartbroken howl. The howl lasted for about three minutes and by the time I finished, I could feel all the wolf's sorrow around the territory. I didn't know I realized I let out all my sorrow in one howl. 

I could feel people's confusion about why I was sad. I just let a calming sensation flow through me. It spread until all the people that were affected by my howl felt calm. I know they were confused and curious about what just happened but they would get over it. I sit on the cliff's edge for a while just thinking on what has become of me and I realize. I have the best family I could ask for. My people all love and look up to me. I have an awesome friend, what more could I ask for. The answer is nothing. It was then that I knew I had to let go. 

I didn't realize I was still holding on to the mate bond thinking maybe Marcus would change but I know it now he would never. With one little sigh, I release what was left of the bond and from across the forest, I can hear the scream of pain. I already felt that pain when he let go of the bond at school but he was feeling it now. I felt satisfied with what I did and with one last look at the sky I ran back to the castle and shifted. From here I could hear the little giggling of baby Danny. I furrowed my eyes. He was supposed to be asleep.

 I ran and jumped till I was on the balcony of my room. I could see hades with baby Danny in his arms. Hades was making shadow puppets that were running around the room and Danny was laughing maniacally. I smiled looking at them. seems like hades has a soft spot for kids. I walk in and immediately the puppets disappear and Danny looks at Hades in confusion until he sees me and extends his hands towards me with a smile. I pick him up and he cuddles in my arms with his head in the crook of my neck. Hades just gave me a little smile and then left the room without a word.

this was kind of a bittersweet chapter, both for Melissa and me. I had gone through a phase where I wanted what I could not have and when I didn't get it, things went bad. but one night just aimlessly staring into a wall I realized I have better things than that, I had great friends an awesome family and most of all the cutest rabbits ever to accompany me. I didn't need anything else especially not what I really wanted...........(it wasn't a guy.. everyone knows guys have cooties..no offense to any guy reading this....just a teen girl trying to get recognized in her old school)......... to all the people out there that think all is lost, it is not, just take a look behind u and see what u have instead of what u want. I guarantee u life will be much easier.
