The Meeting of the Kwamis
Adrien sighed, adjusting his outfit in the mirror as he prepared for his photoshoot. The shoot was easy: wear outfits from his father's new collection, strike some simple poses, and done. It was the same old routine, too old. It was days like this when he wondered if things would ever change.
"Adrien?" Plagg questioned. "What's wrong kid?"
"Nothing Plagg." Adrien lied, forcing a smile as he held out a piece of camenbert. "Here's your cheese. I'll see you in a bit."
Plagg didn't even glance at the piece of camenbert between his paws. Adrien may not know it, but when you've been around for thousands of years, you learn to pick up on when someone is lying. And this kwami smelled a lie stinkier than his cheese.
Plagg flew over and stashed his cheese in Adrien's bag before phasing out of changing tent. He looked around the park, searching until he spotted the building he was looking for. The bakery.
Not only was it a place filled with goodies that would go great with his cheese, it was also home to Adrien's classmate who just happened to be Ladybug. And now that she was guardian, that ment he could find the other kwamis as well.
Plagg carefully made his way through the park and across the street to the bakery. He remembered that the girl's bedroom was at the very top of the building since Adrien went there to practice videogames one time. Plagg flew up and peered through a small circular window, the room was empty. That ment the girl and Tikki weren't home. Perfect.
Plagg phased through the window and cautiously floated into the room. "Hello? Anyone here? Guys?"
"Plagg!" A bunch of tiny voices cheered in excitement flying out from their hiding place.
Before Plagg could react, he was quickly surrounded by his kwami companions hugging him and chattering excitedly.
"What are you doing here?" Trixx asked.
Wayzz studied him with concern. "Is everything alright? Did something happen to Chat Noir?"
"I can go get Marinette and Tikki." Xuppu offered, preparing to dart off.
"No!" Plagg said quickly, grabbing Xuppu's tail. "Everything is fine. Chat Noir is busy and since we were close by, I decided to come visit."
"That's so sweet." Daizzi replied cheerfully.
"Yeah right." Barkk huffed, crossing her arms. "You never show up unless Tikki makes you or you need something. And Tikki's not here, so what do you need Plagg?"
"Barkk, be civil." Kaalki tutted. "You're always jumping to conclusions."
Plagg sighed, his ears drooping. "Actually, she's not wrong. I do need something, but not for myself. For my holder."
The kwamis were silent as Wayzz floated forward. "I thought Chat Noir was okay?"
"Physically he is." Plagg admitted. "But his head isn't in a good place. He needs a friend to talk to. One who understands all the human stuff I don't and his hero reaponsibilities."
"Plagg." Wayzz replied gently. "We all know Marinette isn't ready to reveal herself to him. It isn't time."
"Why not? She revealed herself to Alya." Fluff blurted out before covering her mouth. "Oops."
"Fluff!" The other kwamis groaned.
Plagg's eyes were wide. "Ms. 'We can't reveal our identities to anyone, even ourselves', revealed herself? And Tikki allowed it?"
"It wasn't Tikki's choice." Pollen interjected. "She let Marinette make the decision herself as guardian. The poor dear needed someone to talk to."
"So does my kid." Plagg replied. "That's why I came here. Maybe one of your holders can help. Maybe they can be the friend he needs."
Wayzz sighed. "Plagg, you know we can't say our holders' names in front of eachother."
Plagg rolled his eyes. "Yes Wayzz, I know. But what if you showed me?"
Plagg flew up to the board above Marinette's bed. "I mean, look at all these pictures. Your holders have to be up here. No way the baker's daughter would choose someone she doesn't know to wield a miraculous."
"I don't know Plagg." Wayzz admitted uncertainly.
"Please." Plagg begged. "Hawkmoth already knows the identities of the heroes anyway from the battle with Miracle Queen. And Ladybug doesn't give them a miraculous unless she needs them. Plus, they'll be able to talk in civilian form. The danger is minimal. My kid needs this."
"If we're going to beat Hawkmoth, we need Cat Noir and Ladybug at their best." Trixx replied, flying up to the board and pointing to Alya. "She is my holder."
"The reporter?" Plagg questioned as Trixx nodded. "No shocker. She's baker girl's best friend. But having her know both identities is too risky."
"How about my holder?" Daizzi asked shyly, pointing to a picture of Rose. "She's so sweet and kind."
Plagg shook his head. "The overly peppy girl? Nah. She's nice, but I don't think my kid would be comfortable enough to confide in her."
"Ooo ooo how about mine?" Xuppu asked, pointing to Kim. "He's super fun!"
Plagg crossed his arms. "The competitive jock? Sorry Xuppu, but I don't trust him to keep this secret."
"Awww." Xuppu pouted.
Longg flew over and pointed at a photo of Kagami. "How about my holder? She is confident and strong."
Plagg recoiled immediately. "Uh, no. She and my kid aren't on the best of terms at the moment. Sorry."
Longg nodded as Kaalki floated over, pointing to a picture of Max. "How about my boy? He isn't my typical choice for a holder, but he has promise."
"The human calculator?" Plagg sighed. "No offense, but I don't think he would be able to support my kid on an emotional level. He's all facts and figures, not enough emotion."
Sass floated over to a picture of Luka. "My holder isss very in tune with hissss emotionssss and thosssse of othersss. Perhapsss he could be of asssissstance."
Plagg floated over to Sass and stared at the picture of Luka. "Guitar boy huh? I guess he could work. Though, he and my kid don't see eachother often."
"It isss your choice." Sass replied.
Plagg nodded, then turned to look at Wayzz. "What about you? Who's your holder?"
Wayzz crossed his arms. "I will not break the rules, Plagg. I'm sorry."
"Wayzz, come on." Plagg pleaded. "This is important. Master Fu would want you to help."
Tears pooled in Wayzz's eyes. "Do not bring Master into this. My decision has nothing to do with him. I am simply doing what is expected of me."
"Both of you, stop it! We're not helping anyone by fighting." Trixx huffed, turning to face Wayzz. "I know you only want to do what's right, but in time all illusions eventually fade. They'll find out sooner or later."
Trixx floated over to the board and pointed to Nino. "That's him. That's Wayzz's holder."
"Trixx!" Wayzz scolded.
Plagg's eyes widened with excitement. "Nino!? Nino is your holder? He's my kid's best friend! This is perfect!"
"Plagg." Wayzz pleaded. "Please be careful. Make sure this is the right choice, for Chat Noir and everyone else."
"It is." Plagg nodded. "And I guess I should say thanks. You all really helped me. Now I have to get back before the kid realizes I'm gone. Stay safe guys."
"You too Plagg." The other kwamis replied.
Plagg nodded before darting out of the room and back across the street to the photoshoot. He phased through the tent, zooming straight for Adrien's bag. He grabbed his stash of camembert cheese and swallowed it down in a single gulp.
He had a plan. Now, he just needed to convince Adrien to follow it.
