Nicki POV:
"Girls!" her mom called,"Come on in! You don't have to stand in the doorway,"
she continued as she came out of the kitchen with her apron on.

"Thank you," I smiled as Ashtyn took my jacket,"Mrs. Sparks, that smells delicious."

"Thank you Nicki. I am making cookies for you girls after lunch," she replied

Then, Ashtyn pulled me upstairs and we sat on her bed for what felt like hours (until lunch time really) and she told me more about her.

Background info for Ashtyn (Sorrell) Sparks:
•She is in foster care
•Her dad's last name is Sorrell
•But she goes by Ashtyn Sparks now
•Since she has been living with her foster family (Mr. And Mrs. Sparks who were unable to have children until introduced to the glamorous [as Ashtyn says] world of foster care) for three+ years now
•Her foster dad got a new job (one which means he's always out of town)
•She misses him
•A lot

I feel bad for her..."Hey, Ash..." I began but was cut of by Mrs. Sparks:

"Ashtyn! Nicki! Time for lunch!"

"Coming!" Ashtyn yelled down the steps.

"Sorry I can't spend the night... volleyball practice," I felt very disappointed that I couldn't,"But maybe you could come spend the at my house Saturday?"

"Mom?"

"We don't have going on Saturday, so you can go," Mrs. S said.

"Looks like I can come," she laughed as I took a huge bite of my homemade hamburger.

"This is so good Mrs. S!" I smiled.

In case you didn't know, I am I Christian, and I know Mrs. Sparks is trying to get Ashtyn to know Jesus. I said Saturday because I could take her to Church in the morning...
