IV - Sisterly Bonding

Raven's POV

I can't help but feel bad for her... All of a sudden he just shuts off the TV and says she can't leave the Tower. We all know it's for her safety but it sounds cruel. She isn't liking the fact that she has to rewatch being held at gun point either. I can't believe it's only been a day since that happened.

She's clinging onto me like I'm her only lifeline. If it were anyone else I'd shake them off tell them to get off of me.

"No duh Robin." Beast Boy says.

"I'm pretty sure she wasn't planning to bro."

"Do you feel that Raven?" She asks.

"Feel what?"

"That?" I focus in and concentrate. I feel it now. It's a low rumble along with a static-like feeling. It makes me shiver.

"Now I do."

"That's them. They're coming back. I know it." She says. "Can you like, cloak the Tower so nobody sees it?"

"None of my tech does that." Cyborg replies.

"I have a spell for it. I might need a little help though." She nods with a small smile "Outside. C'mon." We used to cast spells together all the time. It was actually fun and something I actually liked about my childhood.

We raise our hands to the Tower and start our mantra.

"Azerath Metrion Zinthos." Dark beams come from our hands and we make about two laps on the outside of the Tower. Luckily it's still early and nobody is walking on the streets anywhere close to the Tower.

Avia giggles and hurries back inside.

"That was so much fun!" She jumps up and down and something falls from her cloak. "Oops."

It's a little box. It's kina of cute. I wonder what's in it, and why Avia even has it in the first place.

"What's this?" I pick it up.

"Oh it's nothing. I just hold my small belongings in it. Can I have it back please?"

"Woah! Look at the colors! It's all shiny!" Beast Boy is now mesmerized by the box's colors. Idiot. I slap him on the back of the head. "Hey!"

"Is for horses. Now shut up." I retort. Then out of nowhere a hand jumps up and snatches the box from my hand.

I look at Avia while she stuffs the box into her cloak.

"So about that spell, how are we going to protect the city if we can't leave the Tower?" Cyborg asks.

"Who says we can't leave? We just can't leave through any of the main exits. No roof, front door, simple." Robin explains.

"So, we just cannot let the citizens of Jump City see us exit the Tower. That seems fair." Star says.

Is nobody going to ask about the box?

"Yep."

Guess not.

Looking at Avia now, she doesn't look too...attentive.

The others have gone off to do their own thing now. Robin is explaining something to them but I don't really care.

You're so much stronger than I am. Hmm. I have an idea.

"Hey, Avia."

"Hmm?"

"How about we go do something? You and me?"

"Me and you? Like what?"

"I'll show you." I grab her hand and walk into the hallway.

"What're we doing Raven?" She asks quietly. I don't answer. I just pull her along and she obediently follows. I open my door and step in.

"You are so predictable." She states taking in my room. She sits on the floor and plays with the carpet.

"You want to see something cool?"

"Sure."

I sit on the bed and cross my legs.

"Azerath Metrion Zinthos." I shine and release my soul self.

"Woah. What is that?" She asks.

"My soul self. Someone taught me how to do this after I came here. I can go anywhere with it and fight. As long as I get back to my body within 15 minutes." My soul self comes back and I open my eyes.

"Woah." She repeats bewildered. "Can I learn that?"

"Probably. I can teach you if you like."

"Yes please! What else did you learn here?"

"Other things you probably don't want to know about."

"Oh. Well, ok." She goes back to her menial task of ripping up my carpet.

"What about that shapeshifting? Seems interesting. Have you used it other than yesterday?"

"Yeah, but I don't rely on it. Like I said, it doesn't always work."

"Does it only work with people?" She nods. "You want practice?" She nods again. "Try me." She shakes her head.

"I don't want to do you."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't."

"Just try." It takes her a moment, but she eventually agrees. She stares at me and narrows her eyes.

"Didn't work."

"Try again."

She does it again, but this time melts into a purple puddle. She reforms to look the same.

"Nope."

"Try one more time." Same thing again, but the puddle turns indigo and reforms to me. "Told you."

"I didn't think it would work."

"You thought wrong." She melts back into a puddle again and starts to reform. There it is. I saw it earlier when she morphed into the floor and Beast Boy saw it too. This weird mark on her arm. I caught a glimpse of it earlier when she was morphing into the floor but I saw it better just now. I still can't really see it though. I want to get a closer look at it.

"Whats that on your arm?"

"What's what?" I grab her wrist and pull her arm closer to me. It looks like a burn in the shape of a Azerathian E, but not quiet. Sort of like a flag on a flagpole, but the flag is in tatters and there's no wind. Battle worn and broken as if the area around it is gray, dark, and dismal with no form life to accompany it.

I push up her sleeve to reveal it fully.

"That. What is that?"

She's going to say it's nothing and have no reason.

"Its nothing Raven." I knew it.

"It's obviously something. Did the Panthers give it to you?"

"No...I don't think so..."

"You don't think so?"

"It just appeared one day."

"Do you have any idea why?" She slowly shakes her head.

This. This is the one person that could lie to me and potentially get away with it. She knows how I work and how my magic works. She knows how to block me out of her mind. I know she read my mind too, but only because I let her.

Right now, I have no idea if she's lying.

"If you're lying..." She shakes her head again.

"I really don't know." I leg go of her arm.

She sits back down, a little frightened based on her face.

"Sorry. I'm just concerned."

"It...It's ok..."

"I want you to help me with something." I say.

"With what?"

"Can you get me that powder on the shelf?" I sit down on the carpet and cross my legs. She hands me the powder and I make a smlal circle on the floor with it.

"Thank you. Those leaves please." I put a small handkerchief-like cloth in the middle of it along with a mortar and pestle in my lap. She brings me the leaves.

"Those bottles marked 1,4, and 9." She hands me those. After a little extra muscle, I grind them together and put it on the cloth. I fold the cloth over onto itself.

"Azerath Metrion Zinthos."

"What are you doing?"

"Just feel the cloth." She reaches in and is a little surprised by the way the cloth feels.

"Shouldn't that be soft?" I nod. "But it's hard. What did you make?" I unfold the cloth to reveal a dark red stone similar to our chakras.

"Azerathite. A necklace."

"Yep."

"For me?" I nod again. She grabs the necklace and puts it on.

Azerathite has no magical properties whatsoever. But it the ability to project other's power is what it actually does. Azerathite is actually pretty valuable on Azerath. Probably not to the same here though considering it has a lot of the same minerals a a ruby. But I don't know. It could be just as valuable, but frankly, I don't care to find out for obvious reasons.

"I figured I'd give you something. Just to make this situation a little happier." She stares at the gem and is entranced by it. She always did love these things. Staring into precious gems was her favorite pass time weather she realized it or not.

She smiles and hugs me. I don't push her off.

Awwww. That's so sweet!

Anyway, I hope you liked this. I kinda had a bit of a writers block trying to end this on a good note.

There's more in store for Avia!

Here's a clue: Avia isn't her real name. What do you think it is? Whoever guesses the closest before I reveal it will get to know first!!
