Chapter Two: Reunited With Two
~Lachlan's POV~
"Oh my Notch Lachlan! You're okay!" Preston said as he jumped off the sofa and tackled me into a hug. "I thought you were gone."
I hugged Preston back tightly and put my head on his shoulder.
"I'm still here." I said, pulling away from the hug. "I've just been in a year long coma apparently."
"Yeah. We know." Preston said, getting a closer look at my face. "Holy Nether! You're so pale! Go sit down on the couch! I think I have a golden carrot in my chests somewhere."
Following Preston's orders, I sat down on the couch and picked up Preston's cactus; setting it on the table beside me. After hearing stuff be thrown around for a few minutes, Preston came back into the room with a golden carrot in his hand. He handed it to me and sat quietly beside me.
"Thank you." I said, beginning to eat the carrot. "Can you tell me more about what happened? I was only told bits and pieces of what happened."
"Well. Tell me what you know and I'll continue off of that." Preston said, leaning forward so his elbows were on his knees.
"Well, first off I was told that Herobrine had summoned the King of all mobs. The King knocked all of us out, but made it so I went into a coma. Everyone tried to fight the King but failed and either ran or got killed. That's it." I replied, nibbling on my carrot some more.
"Who told you all that?" Preston asked, raising his eyebrow.
"You'll meet him soon enough." I answered. "But first can you tell me more of what happened?"
"Yeah. So after the King caused a huge explosion, we were all sent back to the Overworld. All five of us were able to wake up, but we couldn't wake you. We were told by Wag that you were in a coma and that you had to wake up on your own. At that time, mobs were starting to spawn and we did our best to protect you. When most of the normal mobs were dead, that's when the mutant ones came in. They were too strong. Jerome volunteered to take you somewhere safe; since he was the only one strong enough to carry your tall body. So we allowed him to go. After some time, we all started to get worried. Jerome hadn't come back yet. So me and Mitch went to go look for him. We found him, but he....h-h-he...."
Preston trailed off at the end as tears filled his eyes. My eyes widened and I immediately hugged Preston.
"It's okay. You don't have to tell me." I said, rubbing his back.
Preston shook his head.
"No. I have to. We found him in a small cavern just below the surface. He was nearly dead. Blood was seeping heavily out his head and three large and deep cuts went across his chest. Before he died, he told us that you were safe and that Mitch should be strong. Then he passed away in Mitch's arms. To remember him, Mitch took his diamond axe. Lachlan. Jerome died saving you."
I stared at the ground in front of me as tears rolled down my face.
"It's all my fault. Jerome would be alive if I wasn't so weak." I choked out.
Preston turned to me with a shocked face and shook his head.
"No Lachlan! You are not weak! If anything you are really strong! Jerome died protecting his family. Now we can know what Jerome did was not in vain." Preston said, cheering me up a bit.
"I guess you're right." I said, wiping my eyes before finishing off my carrot.
We sat in silence for a few moments until Preston broke it with a question.
"So what do we do now?"
I thought for a moment before coming up with an answer.
"We get our revenge."
Preston turned to me.
"But how? The King has an army of regular AND mutant mobs. There's only two of us." Preston asked, sounding skeptical.
"We gear up. If we can get some uranium, titanium, and iron, we can create ultimate weapons and armor!" I said, standing up.
Preston sat in thought for a moment before standing up and nodding.
"I've got nothing better to do. Let's do it." Preston said, smiling and leading me over to a chest. "I have some iron pickaxes in here we can use."
Preston pushed open the chest to reveal two brand new iron pickaxes. Grabbing one, I attached it to my back and turned to Preston.
"I'll meet you outside. You'll also get to meet my friend." I told him.
"Okay. Let me grab some materials we might need and I'll be out soon." Preston answered, rushing back into the back of his house.
Walking out the door, I was met with Prince smelling a red flower near the door. When I walked towards him, all three of his heads turned towards me.
Lachlan! You are back! Tell me, who did you find inside the house?
"I found Preston. One of my friends from the Pack. We're about to go mining for supplies and I said I wanted him to meet you." I answered, kneeling down to pet the heads.
That is great Lachlan! When will he be out?
"He's grabbing some stuff so he'll be out in a minute." I answered.
A second later, Preston opened the door and walked out. Seeing the Prince, Preston stepped back frightened.
"Ummm L-l-l-lachlan?Is that a d-d-dragon?" Preston stuttered.
"Yes Preston. But there is no need to worry. This is Prince. He helped me after the whole one year coma thing." I said, allowing Prince to walk to Preston.
It is a pleasure to finally meet you Preston. Your heroics that last three years were unforgettable.
"Um. Thanks?" Preston asked, slightly blushing. "Anyway. Should we get going? I know of a really big cave system just over the hill."
You two can go. I will await outside the cave.
"Alright. Lead the way Preston." I said, standing up.
Preston led me through the small town before eventually heading out into the forest. We climbed over the hill where I got a good look at the land.
"Woah." I said as I looked around.
Everywhere I looked, there was destruction. Many of the Kingdoms in the distance were destroyed and reduced to rubble.
"Is that the Wizards Tower?" I asked, pointing to a broken down building not too far away.
"Yeah. Mutant Creepers tore it down when they fell. Most of their stuff is still there, but mobs guard it. Along with any other place that held important items." Preston said, playing with his lava themed tie. "Almost everyone is gone now. Those across the sea have no idea what happened here. We're all alone."
"Damn mate. This sucks." I said, placing my hands on the sides of my head.
"Yeah it does. Now come on! The cave is just down there. I'm sure we can find all of our materials down there." Preston said, beginning the trek down.
Me and Prince followed after him, eventually reaching the mouth of the cave.
"Are you sure you'll be fine by yourself Prince?" I asked, crouching down next to Prince.
I will be fine Lachlan. You just watch out for yourself and Preston.
"Will do Prince." Preston said, having finally warmed up to him.
Good luck.
I stood up and followed Preston into the cave. Preston pulled out two torches and lit them with his hands before handing one to me.
"Hey Preston?" I asked as we began to walk.
"Yeah?"
"Race you through the cave!" I ylled before taking off.
"YOU MOTHER FUDGER!" Preston yelled with a laugh as he ran after me.
We ran around the cave system for a while until we stopped and decided to set up camp. Placing my torch down, I pulled out some wood and made a quick crafting table.
"Ready to go?" I asked, pulling out my pickaxe.
"Yep. I say we just go around this area and clean it out before moving on." Preston said.
"Sounds like a plan." I said as we began mining.
~Time Skip~
"I found a diamond!" I hear Preston yell from somewhere in the lava pits.
"That's cool Preston! Come up here and check out my armor!" I yelled back, pulling on the armor.
Preston appeared a second later with his pick and bow out.
"That. Is some pretty sick armor." Preston said, pointing to the blue chest piece and pants on my person.
"Thanks mate! Say! I think there's some iron over there, want to go get that while I grab the stuff so we can move on?" I asked, pointing to some iron ore a little ways.
"Sure. Be right back." He said, running off to mine it.
What I did not expect was for Preston to yell: "HOLY FUDGE! A CHICKEN JUST CAME OUT OF THE BLOCK!"
"Just leave it there! We have plenty of food already!" I yelled back.
Preston came running back and pushed me along.
"Let's go! I think that chicken called friends."
~Time Skip~
"My pickaxe is almost destroyed. You got another one?" I asked as we stood on a ledge near another part of the cave system.
"I have some more iron. I could ma- WHAT THE FUDGE!?" Preston said, getting hit by a torch mid sentence.
"What's going on dudes?" A familiar voice echoed as we turned to the direction the torch came from.
"Mitch!" Me and Preston yelled happily.
"Hey Preston. And Lachlan. Good to see Jerome's death wasn't in vain." He said with a large smile.
