How Dare You?
Metals and Nonmetals,
Oh so original.
They're unique and deserve their own
medal,
And their value is vital.
Enough with the rhymes and the sweet lines,
Time's wasting,
Let's talk about what's left and right of the red zig-zag line.
Metals so shiny,
Solid at room temperature.
Electric,
Heat,
And train....wait no-
Just heat and electric conductors.
We have Sodium,
Potassium,
Lithium,
And Rubidium.
Aluminum,
Gallium,
And many more of 'em.
Moving to the right,
Reside the Nonmetals.
They may be dull,
Brittle,
And may not be conductors,
Instead they have a cooler name,
Insulators.
Some may be solid,
Many are gases,
Gases aren't bad,
No,
They are special!
We have:
Helium for balloons,
Neon for signs,
Argon for...well...
Krypton for....uh.
Xenon for bacteria-killing lamps!
Ha, didn't think I'd know that, huh?
Iodine,
Fluorine,
Astatine,
Bromine,
And....wait, I said no rhymes.
Now there's one thing I don't find,
Very not too fair.
It seems pretty cool,
There's nothing like a good crossover,
But it's the best of both:
Shiny,
But brittle.
So-called semiconductors,
And only so much exist.
There's silicon,
Boron,
And arsenic,
All of which are classified as hybrids.
Copying off Metals and Nonmetals,
You're not very creative.
You sound pretty cool, but also make me want to drool.
How's that for ambivalence?
Residing near the zig-zag, you're taking up space.
I plead you guilty,
And as my teacher will question me for my disrespect,
Now I ask,
Metalloids:
How dare you?
