Naruto threw the decoy first using transformation jutsu with the rasenshuriken, the Preta path raised its hands, he absorbed the attack but instead Naruto appeared. Naruto launched at his torso tackling the Preta path to the ground. Aika took out her Kunai taking aim at the Pain capable of revival, the Naraka path. (I think that's the one)

The second rasenshuriken was aimed at Pain, this one would be to quick for him to dodge but Pain stared at it with no concern. As the jutsu reached Pain it expelled around him, with just a glance he managed to destroy it. Naruto quickly covered the Preta's path eyes.

"Aika!" Naruto shouts

Aika throws her kunai and teleports beside the Naraka path, her body and katana ablaze in clear white fire.

"What" Pain's voice was angry

Naruto merely stared him down as Aika's katana tore straight through the Naraka path, her fire consuming him and burning his body until it was shriveled up.

"You twins" Pain says "are irritating"

"And we're not done yet!" Naruto shouts raising his fist

The original Naruto went for the Preta path but his clone went straight for Pain. 

"Naruto wait!" Aika turns to him

Pain raises his arms "Almighty push!"

Both Naruto's were sent flying, the clone vanishing on impact. Aika's flames went out as she ran forward and softened Naruto's impact by him landing into her, the two crashing into the ground.

"ugh big brother you're heavy" Aika whined

"Don't weight shame me I'm a growing boy" Naruto rubs his head as he gets off her

"You ok? Naruto asks as he helps Aika up

"yeah" Aika sighs

The two watched the three giant toads attempt to attack the remaining two Pain's.

"So what now?" Naruto asks "you're the one with most our brains"

"Well considering their's a Path missing, that means big brother Haruto took out one right?" Aika asks

"Yeah I think so.. huh?!" Naruto looks at her "you weren't even here when Grandma Tsunade told me Haruto was our big brother how do you know that?!"

"Oh please" Aika looks at him "As if I haven't been keeping an eye on the village, I can turn into a phoenix you know, I come and go as I please"

"So.. you've always been keeping an eye on me?" Naruto asks

"How else would I have known your weaknesses and progress" Aika replies "but that aside, we need to focus on the current matter"

"right right" Naruto focuses "so.. what are we gonna do?"

"Well we don't have to worry about that Path, so these two are really the only ones left" Aika says "Between the central Pain's attacks we have at most five seconds. Any second later or earlier and we're dead. The Preta path can probably be taken down with taijutsu but again we'd still need a way to keep the original at bay"

"So divide and conquer?" Naruto asks

"no that won't work" Aika shakes her head "I-"

"I must say you're truly stronger together then apart Uzumaki twins, this is the farthest that Pain has ever been pushed but no more. It's over" Pain raised his arm toward Naruto

"Stronger together" Aika mutters "that's it"

"Universal pull"

Naruto was flung towards him and propelled directly into the second Pain's fist. The Preta path caught Naruto's arm and pinned him against himself. 

"Don't worry, I won't kill you. You are a precious jinchuriki" Pain says calmly

"Naruto!" Aika shouts

"Ha, did you really think you could hurt me with this move? You shouldn't underestimate Sage mode, and now it's my turn too.." Naruto suddenly felt his Sage chakra leaving him as the Preta path absorbed his chakra

"He's absorbing Naruto's chakra" Aika took a step back and the area around her became blurry "it's just like back then" she gripped the handle on her katana "I'm not strong enough to help anyone.. still.. their's someone stronger then me"

"Yes you're right, Sage jutsu is powerful" Pain agreed with Naruto "The nine-tails has been captured"

"Not yet" Naruto mutters weakly

"You're quite the stubborn one aren't you" Pain says, annoyed

Naruto released a slow breath realizing that not being able to move was perfect. He could absorb more nature energy. Naruto ignored Pain as he allowed the one that held him to absorb all the chakra he wanted.

"I guess you don't know about this but nature energy is really hard to control" Naruto says as the Preta path turned to stone

Naruto then broke free and stared down Pain "Sage jutsu chakra, it seems it comes with a fair bit of risk" 

Naruto glances to where Aika was moments ago, her Fenikkusu was glazed over.

"Aika" Naruto ran over to her "you ok?"

"It's no use" Aika mutters "I'm still behind"

"What in the world are you talking about?" Naruto asks "You're not behind"

"Yes I am!" Aika shouts and looks up at him "I've always been behind.. that's why I joined the Akatsuki.. cause.. I'm not strong"

"Aika you're crazy strong" Naruto tells her

"No I'm not" Aika looks away "you don't need my help, you defeated that path on your own. It's still the same as it was back then, I think I'm strong.. but I'm not"

"Aika listen to me!" Naruto grabs her shoulders and makes her look at him "You've worked so hard, I need you!" Naruto tells her "and I always have!"

Memories of her childhood flashed through her mind, Naruto has always protected her, whatever he did he always did with her.

"Naruto.." Aika stares at him

"I've always needed you sis" Naruto tells her "you just never saw it"

"Universal pull!"

Naruto yells as he's launched towards Pain

"Naruto!" Aika shouts

Pain caught Naruto's throat and threw him against the ground. Pain pinned Naruto's hands to the ground with his staff. Naruto slowly glanced up at Pain as Pain knelt down, putting his weight on the staff that sunk through Naruto's palms. 

"Are you just going to stand there like a frightened child Red?" Pain questions looking over at the trembling girl "What happed to the Akatsuki's Red Arsonist? You look pathetic"

"you shut your mouth" Naruto says

"I wonder how many other lives she's willing to lose, how long she is willing to listen to you suffer" Pain mused and Naruto screamed again when Pain pushed the staff into his shoulder.

"S-Stop!" Aika shouts

Pain chuckles and looks up at her "make me"

Aika trembles as he grips her katana, defeating all those ninja while in the Akatsuki was easy. Wearing that cloak gave her some kind of power, the power of fear. In that cloak the enemies knew what she was a apart of, and fear was her advantage.

There was no fear here in this fight, Pain wasn't afraid of her or Naruto, she was a joke. All those years of training have led to nothing, in this moment she felt like a failure. She came to the village to save them, now she was trembling like a fool.

"How about this Red, if you run away now I'll pretend like you were never here" Pain says

Aika looks at Naruto before quickly turning around and running off. She didn't go far, but she hid, she just needed to get herself together before Pain killed Naruto. The world around her was spinning and she didn't know what was wrong.

When she was a genin this happened often too. It didn't make sense how she could feel so strong, then suddenly feel so weak in the presence of a strong ninja. Perhaps it was the fear of death that she hasn't felt in so long, was starting to settle in her on.

'what are you doing child, snap out of it'

Aika looks around.

'your village needs you, your brothers need you'

Aika suddenly sensed that someone else had entered the field; she could feel the earth shake from their attack.

"I won't let you hurt Naruto anymore!"

"That's Hinata's voice" Aika says to herself

'She can't defeat Pain, will you let her die?'

"I.." Aika looks down

'A jinchuriki would run straight in you know'

"I'm not a jinchuriki" Aika says

'You're right, you're not a jinchuriki. You're you, you're a phoenix, you're Aika Uzumaki'

Aika's eyes widen, her hair went ablaze and her eyes changed into the symbol of a phoenix before glowing red.

Hinata was struggling to pull the staff from Naruto's pinned hands. Pain reaches his hand out sending her flying and at that moment Aika ran forward, as fast as she could. Aika slammed into Pain and used the momentum to jump up. She made a hand sign and transformed into a phoenix.

Aika catches Hinata by her shirt and lands on the ground, she gently places Hinata on the ground. Aika transforms back into her human form and stands up facing Pain.

"So.. you're not going to run?" Pain questions

"No" Aika replies confidently "Not anymore"
