Confession
No POV:
Adrian was in the Dorm Lobby and looking at a payphone. He's there because he thought about calling his mother. What to say is going to be the difficult part.
Adrian: Can you find a way to connect this to the phone at home?
Prometheus: (Unintelligible)
Adrian: Thanks.
Adrian picks up the phone and dials the number for his apartment. It rings for a moment and Adrian worries that it might not go through. But someone picks up and the voice he wants to hear speaks.
Alice: H-hello?
Adrian: Hi mom.
Alice: Adrian? I didn't expect you to give me a call.
Adrian: It was a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.
Alice: Well, how have things been?
Adrian: As well as can be. I made some actual friends here.
Alice: Friends? That's nice.
Adrian: Yeah. They've got their quirks but they are the best people you could ever want to be with.
Alice: Anything else?
Adrian: Kinda. We're in a club.
Alice: A club?
Adrian: Yeah. A newspaper club.
Adrian doesn't want to reveal the fact that he's in a school for monsters and that his life is in danger pretty often.
Alice: It's nice to know you have friends you hang out with.
Adrian: Yeah. I wrote letters to send to you. But they're long and I wrote so many that I'm not sure if I should. And I decided to give you a call instead
Alice: It's up to you if you want to send them. Make sure you've been getting enough sleep. Take care.
Adrian: You as well.
Alice hangs up and Adrian is unsure of how to feel since this was the closest thing they've had to a proper conversation in years. But he knows that being upset is not one of them. Kurumu is revealed to be hiding behind a corner and overheard Adrian's part of the conversation. She has a sad look on her face after hearing the conversation.
Adrian puts the phone back on the receiver and walks away. He goes to the pond and continues writing his book. The words and plot just come to him. His current chapter revolves around fighting students who are agents for the Order of Endless Night, an organization determined to enshroud the world in endless darkness and allow the creatures of night to rule. Not too surprising, Kurumu appears and lands on Adrian's lap.
Kurumu: Hello, Adrian!
Adrian: Hi, Kurumu. How are you doing?
Kurumu: Well. Although I feel even better when I'm around with you.
Adrian: Glad to hear it.
Kurumu: Whatcha writing?
Adrian: A book.
Kurumu takes a look at what I've written and quickly becomes amazed by the story.
Kurumu: Adrian, this story is amazing.
Adrian: You think so?
Kurumu: I know so. I can feel Vincent desire to discover his place in the world. I also love the relationship between Sora and Akasha. Although if I were to make a suggestion, I think Lilith's relationship with Vincent deserves some focus.
Adrian: I'll keep that in mind.
Kurumu: Hey, Adrian. If there's anything on your mind, just tell me.
Adrian stays silent as he doesn't know how to respond.
Kurumu: I learned that even if it might not make you feel better, it might help a little if you just said it.
Adrian puts away his notebook and stands up. He walks in front of the pond and stays silent for a moment before turning and facing Kurumu.
Adrian: Kurumu... I'm not like the other students here. I'm... I'm a human.
Kurumu is shocked by the statement and stays silent.
Adrian: I don't blame you if you hate me. I know how much most humans are prejudice against those they choose to target and believe only what they want to believe. I wasn't able to make a single friend due to how they choose to believe that I would end up like my dad for something he didn't do. If you want nothing to do with me, then that's fine. But... I still value you and the others. Tsukune and Moka were my first friends, but meeting you. I felt what it meant to fall in love.
Kurumu walks up to Adrian before grabing his cheeks and pulling him into a kiss. Adrian was surprised by this, but accepts it. Kurumu breaks off and looks at Adrian.
Kurumu: I love you Adrian. Nothing can change that. Besides, being around with you shows that, not all humans are bad.
Adrian: Really?
Kurumu: Really. Besides, I don't blame you for hiding your true race. I can't say I made a good impression the second time we met.
Adrian: I guess we both sanded down our rough spots a bit.
Kurumu: Yeah. Also, since we're on the topic of telling truths, I overheard you talking with your mom.
Adrian: How much did you hear?
Kurumu: Everything you said. I might be giving a bad suggestion, but maybe you should send your letters to her. I think she deserves to read them, no matter how bad you think they are. No offense.
Adrian: None taken. Besides, I know my girlfriend just wants to help me.
Adrian and Kurmu kiss again before they go back to the dorms. Adrian grabs a bag that contains all the letters he wrote and takes it to the bus stop. The bus driver arrives and steps out.
Bus Driver: So, you're still alive. That's a pretty good sign.
Adrian: Could you deliver these?
Adrian hands the bus driver the bag of letters and he reads the address on them.
Bus driver: Yeah, I can deliver these. Hell, I send them straight there.
Adrian: Not to sound like I don't believe you, but how?
Bus Driver: I have my ways. And an old friend owes me a favor. Take care kid.
Adrian nods and walks away. After going halfway through the forest, he sees Kurumu standing by a tree.
Adrian: You're right. My mom deserves to know how I'm doing. Hopefull my letters won't give her the wrong idea.
Kurumu: Did you mention all the things about you fighting monsters in them.
Adrian: Nope. I didn't mention anything about fighting for my life. I parts about you guys.
Kurumu: Then I think it'll be alright.
Adrian: Either way, whatever I do. I've got to do it without regrets. A teacher I actually liked in my last school told me that.
Kurumu: He sounds pretty wise.
Adrian: He has his moments. Like you.
Kurumu smiles and hugs me. We walk back as the others are calling our names. A clear indication that they are waiting for us so we can hang out together. I finally found my people and someone who is also special to me. And made me take another awkward step to connecting with my mom.
