Yellow Tea
*Jungkook*
While Jimin and Tae were studying at the school library, I had decided to wait for them at the Han River. The day had started out all sunny but slowly it became more and more cloudy and soon the first raindrops started falling. Nevertheless, I was able to convince Eun Ae-ssi to join me.
I was waiting for her on a bench, playing on my phone, when I felt something wet on my knee. Dak-Ho! Eun-Ae had brought her dog with her. I put my phone back into my backpack and patted the dog's head that was now resting on my lap. To show me he enjoyed the caresses, he closed his eyes and drooled some more. I looked up from him while keeping on patting his soft head, when I distinguished two shape sI recognized in the distance. Eun Ae was not alone. Next to her walked another girl. Not just any girl. It was Yerin, her girlfriend, - the one I had upset a few months ago when I had kissed Eun Ae to find out if I was really into boys. I was not yet sure if she had entirely forgiven me for being so stupid.
"Jungkook ssi, hi! I brought Yerin, she was staying at my place, so I thought I'd just bring her along. I hope that is alright with you", Eun Ae greeted me. Yerin bowed to me. I bowed back and greeted them both. After a few moments of small talk, it started raining some more and we decided to go for a coffee before we were completely soaked.

It was not so easy to find a café that accepted dogs. Finally, Yerin lead us to a small teahouse close enough to the river where she had worked during the last few summer holidays. The shop was tiny, but lovely. The whole shop was made of clear wood that had been painted in some white color. The decoration was all light blue or purple. On every table stood a vase with a matching flower. It gave the place a romantic look.
At the entrance, we greeted the shop owner. Yerin shortly halted, talked to the man and then she led us through the shop at the back where in one corner was hidden a bigger table and a porch that gave way to a patio. The patio was surrounded by the walls of the other houses. Even though it was rather small, just like the rest of the place, the owner had transformed it into a little zen garden. In the middle ran a fountain with fresh water that led to a pond with koi fishes and lotus flowers. The pond itself was lying in the shadow of a beautiful bonsai tree. I took a long look at this hidden place, amazed by its beauty.

"The owner is my uncle", Yerin explained, "I help out here whenever my timeschedule allows it. This way I earn money and I can also learn one thing or two." "Yerin wants to open her own teahouse later", Eun Ae told me.
"The place looks lovely", I agreed. "The coffee is also delicious. They import coffee from all over the world. But they are more famous for the various tea flavors you can only buy here. It is well known in Seoul and people from all over Korea stop in my uncle's small shop to buy a pack of tea", she told us. "They work with tea plantations in Japan, China and India. You will find many rare flavors here. If you like tea, I can recommend you some special yellow tea from China, we only get once a year because the tealeaves are so rare. But if you want coffee...", Yerin kept on explaining.
This was the first time she was talking so much. Usually, she kept quiet and preferred listening rather than talking herself. And not only was she talking and explaining her uncle's business to us in every detail, but she was also smiling. One could really see how much she enjoyed working here and that this type of business would fit her well too.
So I smiled back at her and told her that I would love to taste this yellow tea she had told us about. I also ordered a strawberry muffin with it. When Eun Ae had passed her order, Yerin disappeared in the kitchen.
"She loves it here. She really lightens up whenever we come here or she talks about this place", Eun Ae told me, her chin resting on her palms. "I get it! This place is beautiful. I am sure Tae would enjoy it as well. I should bring him here some time!", I said.
Eun Ae looked at me hesitatingly. "You guys are alright?", she finally asked. "Yes! Of course!", I replied. My best friend nodded but kept analyzing my face, trying to read my feelings. Meanwhile, Yerin came back with a bowl of fresh water she placed under table for Dak-Ho. Then she wandered back to the kitchen where she prepared our order.
"You look happy, alright.", Eun Ae finally said, "I was just wondering if you had talked to Taehyung-ssi about, you know,... his anxieties". "He is stressed out because of the finals. I guess that's normal, and he doesn't want to fail", I said.
Again, Eun Ae nodded but this time she went on. "I was not talking about this anxiety. You told me that he was having other ... troubles... more personal ones. You told me you thought that it had to do with his family?", Eun Ae inquired further. "Ah... yes... I had completely forgotten about that. And no. We have not talked about that matter since. I am not even sure if he wants to talk about it", I told her.
"Of course, he does not want to talk about it if it hurts him. But you should keep an eye out for him and you should not forget that there is something that troubles him. Maybe you could help him overcome these dark feelings in the future by reaching out for him. I just think that these fears or traumas could enhance his other anxieties", Eun Ae tried to explain. I nodded in agreement but did not comment her thoughts.
I thought back at what Tae had told me that night when he was crying in my arms but I also knew that this burden was something he had not yet wanted to share with me. But I would be there for him, would he ever want to share it with me.
At that moment my phone vibrated. I had one new message from Tae.
Jimin and I are leaving rn. Are you still at the Han River? <3
"Your boyfriend?", Eun Ae asked, a teasing smile on her lips. I told her that they were done studying and asked if it was alright if they joined us. "Sure. Please invite them over. I would love to get to know them a little better!".
So, I texted Tae the address of the teahouse. But Eun Ae's words would not stop rotating in my mind. We should talk. If there was something troubling Tae, I should at least try to help him with it. I would not force him to confess these things to me against his will but maybe he would like to have someone to talk to. We would see.
At that moment, Yerin brought us our drinks and food. Eun Ae had chosen a Sencha Tea and a violet scented Muffin and Yerin had chosen the same tea as mine. "A cup of Huang Ya Cha for you, and one for me", she said as she put a cup in front of me. "This is a special type of yellow bud teas", she explained. I thanked her and asked her some more questions about this type of tea. As we were talking like this, I felt her slowly warming up towards me. Before today, I had only met her a few times. I always thought of her as one of Eun Ae's closest friends until she was recently presented to me as her girlfriend. We had not talked much, and I had always thought that she was a rather cold person. Eun Ae being a more cheerful and extrovert person I wondered how they could match. Therefore, until today, I had thought that maybe the proverb saying "Opposites attract each other" must be true but today I had discovered a new side of Yerin and I understood better what my best friend saw in her.
We laughed together and talked some more about her uncle's business and the trip she and Eun Ae were planning at the end of the year when the doorbell rang, and two soaking wet people entered.
