Chapter XVI
Chapter 16: The Marvellous Wedding
As you might know by now, there are two less chapters in this version than the original. This is because I got rid of the character endings and merged two chapters together.
Six months later, it was time for Link and Zelda to get married!
Zelda slipped her dress on. This was the happiest day of her life. Her wedding day! Today she would marry the love of her life, Link. Not to mention, they were tying the knot on Valentine's Day! If she was getting married when her father was still around, she wouldn't be happy, because she would be marrying a suitor. A Prince who only wants her hand in marriage because he'll get the kingdom along with her.
"A gift for the bride!" Florence said, knocking on the door.
Florence looked beautiful. Her hair was down and her dress was a beautiful blue, (which was the Royal colour) with her Divine Beast Symbol on it.

"Here you go!" Florence said, handing Zelda a veil.
"Oh! Can you put it on?" Zelda asked.
Florence pinned the veil to the back of Zelda's plaited bun, letting the back bit fall to the floor, while the front bit covered Zelda's face. It was a tradition for the groom to lift the veil, to reveal the bride's face.

"Thank-you my Maid of Honour," Zelda formerly said.
"Since when were formalities a thing with us?" Florence asked.
"I don't know," Zelda replied.
"It was never a thing and it never will be!" Florence said.
Outside, a wedding bell rang.
"Time to go!" Florence said. Zelda slowly began walking down the newly-built halls of Hyrule Castle, to the aisle.
In Link's room, at the same time as Zelda was getting changed, Link was trying to find his cufflinks. When he finally found them, his outfit was complete. He wore a black traditional tuxedo, black leather shoes, and a Silent Princess resting in his pocket.
"Sir Link, it's time to go," Sidon, who was the best man, said.
Now in the wedding room, Zelda took deep breaths. All that stood between her and her soon-to-be-husband, was the giant curtain and long aisle. Only a few minutes now...
———
Meanwhile, in the King's Study, Florence was digging through the king's stuff, to try and find something, when suddenly she came across a stack of untouched envelopes. On each of the envelopes it said: To: Link Knil From: Mirabel Knil. Florence gasped. These were letters to Link from his mother. She realised that Link's last name was his first name spelt backwards. She had to get this to Link before the wedding ceremony started.
———
"Link! Hi!" Florence said. "You'll want to take a look at this!" She finished.
Link looked at the envelopes. "Link Knil? That's my name?"
"Mmhm, though it won't matter, you're taking Zelda's name right?" Florence asked.
"Yeah, now you better get back to Zelda," Link said.
Florence nodded and hurried off.
Just as Florence got back to Zelda, the wedding music began to play. The curtain opened revealing Sidon walking Zelda down the aisle, with Hilda and Midna throwing flower petals on the floor. She was beautiful. Though Link couldn't see her face, he imagined what it looked like. Zelda walked up to Link and they faced each other. The priest began talking.
"Today we have come together to celebrate the joining of a very special, and very happy couple. Not only is it an honour to speak at a wedding, but it is more of an honour to speak at a Royal wedding!" The priest began. "First, I'd like to say the definition of love. Love is when you say to someone: 'this is going to be one heck of a ride, but I wouldn't do it with anyone but you.' Now, the vows."
Link went first.
"Zelda, when I first met you, I didn't really interact with you. I was cold, and silent, with a heavy burden, but you were the one that brought me out of my silentness. You were the one that saved me, and taught me to be a better person, and for that I am grateful," Link said, his words making Zelda all teary.
"Link, when I first met you, I hated you, I took all my anger out on you, and that was wrong. When you began to open-up to me, I found out that you're a really kind person, and that is why I fell for you. You taught me to let go of what happened 100 years ago. You taught me how to be responsible and how to protect myself. You made all my dreams come true," Zelda said.
"I am a working progress," Link said.
"I am a working progress," Zelda said.
The priest stepped forward with the rings and said to Zelda: "Zelda, do you take Link to be your wedded husband? To cherish and to protect him with your life? To love him through life and death, through light and darkness? Do you promise to be supportive of him, and to always be there for him even through the darkest times?"
"I do." Zelda said, putting a ring on Link's finger.
"Link, do you take Zelda to be your wedded wife? To cherish and to protect her with your life? To love her through life and death, through light and darkness? Do you promise to be supportive of her, and to always be there for her even through the darkest times?"
"I do." Link said, slipping a ring on Zelda's finger.
The priest got a white scarf with red, green, and blue embedded on it and a knife. The priest handed the couple the knife.
"Please cut your hand," the priest said.
Link sliced Zelda's hand and she sliced his.
"Please join hands," the priest said.
The happy couple joined hands and the priest wrapped the scarf around the couple's hands, letting the blood soak into it. Zelda briefly winced in pain, when Link touched the cut.
"By the three Triforce pieces, Power, Courage and Wisdom, the goddesses bless you with their blessing in this marriage, and wish you the best for the future," the priest said. "By the light of the Goddess Hylia, I pronounce you husband and wife! Link, you may lift the veil and kiss your newlywed wife."
The Priest undid the scarf and placed a bandage on the two cuts, to stop the bleeding. Before Link could kiss Zelda, Hilda ran up and healed the couple's wounds. Zelda was relieved that the wound had healed.
Link gently lifted the veil and gave Zelda a deep and passionate kiss.
The crowd cheered at the sight of the couple kissing.
———
The reception soon after and people gathered on the dance floor.
"May the newlyweds have this first dance?" Zelda asked, arriving on the dance floor.
The guests moved out of the way. Link hadn't known how to waltz until Zelda taught him a few weeks ago. The waltz ended and Link dipped Zelda, finishing the dance, panting. Link pulled Zelda up into a hug.
After hours of photo shooting, and dancing, Zelda began to tire.
"Let's go to bed," she said, nearly tripping on her dress.
The two went to bed, sleeping in a blissful sleep.
