Chapter 13: Puppet Master 

Zelda had managed to help Link's bleeding a little bit, but he was still bleeding out. Zelda had noticed earlier that black cracks were appearing on his hands and every time Link cried out, his eyes turned yellow, and then back to blue. The group had discovered that they were trapped. Hordes of monsters had formed a circle around the castle, and there was no way to fight them and make it out alive. Especially not with Link's condition. Aryll, who everyone hadn't noticed before, was freaking out, because her brother was dying.

Midna had noticed Link's eyes changing and the black cracks growing on him in various places. Midna gasped. She remembered that another Princess Zelda had gotten possessed by Ganon and her eyes turned yellow and her skin became cracked and turned green. Worst of all, she became evil.

Suddenly Link stopped breathing. Zelda attempted CPR, but it didn't work. He was gone. Link was dead. Zelda burst into tears. Her lover was dead. Her fiancé. A couple of minutes later, Ganon, who was still in the shape of Link, appeared.

He took Link's hand and said: "my sweet Princess Zelda, the next time you see your fiancé, he will be quite different!"

Then he disappeared in a puff of smoke along with Link.

"LINK!" Zelda cried, streams of tears running down her face.

The Princess screamed until her voice became hoarse. Her friends decided to let her mourn Link.

"Guys, the monsters are gone, we can head back to the village." Aryll said, looking out the window.

Without saying anything, Zelda left.

Once the group got back to Hateno Village, Zelda found a note. It read:

Dear Zelda,

If you want your fiancé back, come to the Yiga Clan Hideout. I want you, Midna and Hilda only!

See you there

Ganon

Zelda knew it was a trap, but she would go anyway. She told Hilda and Midna, and the three of them set off to the Yiga Clan Hideout.

At the hideout Link's body was chained to the wall. It was dark, but that was the point. Sakira and Ganon entered.

"What shall we do about him, my lord?" Sakira asked.

"I have plans. Rise my champion!" Ganon ordered.

Link's skin turned green and black cracks appeared on his face and suddenly, his eyes snapped open to reveal shining yellow eyes. Cursed eyes.

"Even if the Princess was to find a way to lift the curse, he would die in the process, because he's already dead!" Ganon boomed, cackling evilly.

"Was this your plan?" Sakira asked.

"No, I had planned to turn Zelda into a Puppet, but this one will do just fine. Hahahaha!" Ganon laughed, touching Link's cracked face.

Ganon unchained Puppet Link and handed him the Dark Master Sword. "Here, the sword should be returned to its rightful owner."

He heard the doors slamming shut as Zelda, Midna and Hilda walked in.

"Stay here," He told the Puppet, as he and Sakira walked out to meet Zelda and her crew.

"Zelda! How nice of you to join us," Ganon said.

"If you're going to kill me, then do your worst!" Zelda said.

"Oh, I am going to kill you, but how about someone who knows you better does it for me?" Ganon asked.

Zelda frowned, Midna gasped and Hilda stayed silent, but drew her sword. Ganon burst out laughing.

"You can come out now," he said. Puppet Link entered.

Zelda gasped. Link looked terrible. "What did you do to him?!"

"I gave him a taste of my own magic," Ganon said. "Well, I'll let you four play, enjoy your last few moments of your life Zelda."

Ganon said, before walking off into the darkness. Zelda looked into Link's bright yellow eyes, and all she saw was hatred, anger and evil. Suddenly, Link dived at her with his sword. Luckily, Hilda pulled Zelda away just in time.

"Zelda! I've fought a Puppet before! They only have three attacks! His dive was one of his attacks," Midna yelled.

Hilda hit Link with her sword.

"Whoa! Guys! We don't want to hurt him!" Zelda shouted, blocking another attack.

"If we don't do anything he'll kill us!" Hilda said, ducking to avoid Link's sword.

"We have to get him to snap out of it!" Zelda yelled. "Midna, if we weaken him, could you use your magic to lift the curse?"

"I could, but it would kill him!" Midna said.

"WHAT???!!!" Zelda screamed. "He's alive and well now!"

"Ganon's magic is giving him life, once that magic is gone he will die!" Midna explained.

"Do it! Even if he dies. If we don't we'll be dead sooner rather than later," Zelda said, while biting her lip to try and hold back tears.

"ZELDA! LOOK OUT!!!" was all Zelda heard before she felt an excruciating pain, and a force knocking her back into the wall. Zelda's vision became blurry and her head was trying to force her into unconsciousness, but she refused to go unconscious. She saw a figure walking towards her. It was Link. Link started to dive towards Zelda as she closed her eyes, waiting for the sweet essence of death. She was about to be murdered by her own fiancé, a fiancé who loved her, who was kind and caring, what a story.

However, the pain never came. Zelda opened her eyes to see Hilda in front of her, with a sword through her stomach.

"HILDA!" Zelda screamed, as Hilda fell to the floor.

"I'm okay," Hilda said.

A purple light formed around Hilda's wound and healed it. "Wait, you can heal yourself?" Zelda asked.

"Others too!" Hilda said, beaming.

"WHAT!!!??? NO FAIR!!! I'LL JUST HAVE TO END YOU BY USING MY MAGIC!!!" Link screamed.

Link moved to the centre of the room, and started floating. His arm started glowing green and a giant circle appeared on the floor. The only part of the floor that wasn't covered was the corners.

"RUN INTO THE CORNERS!!!" Hilda warned.

The three moved into a corner of the room just as the circle erupted in electricity.

"That is his second attack!" Midna stated.

Now that Link was floating, it was impossible to hit him. Not that anyone had hit him yet. He put his hand out in front of him and created a magical ball of green electricity.

Link aimed at Zelda and sent the ball at her. She dodged easily.

"Zelda! Whack the ball back at him! That's how you hurt him!" Midna yelled.

"Okay, I'll try!" Zelda called back.

Link shot another ball at Zelda, but this time, she hit the ball back at him with her sword.

"That must be his last attack," Hilda said.

With three more hits of electricity, Link started to get agitated. This time the lights went out, leaving the room in total darkness. All you see was Puppet Link's yellow eyes and green magic. Puppet Link used the same attacks, but they were fighting in total darkness. When Zelda ran over to the corner to avoid the circle of electricity, she would often smack into the wall accidentally.

With three more hits, Puppet Link got really angry. This time Link created a magical beam and shot it at Zelda. Zelda somehow used her power to shoot a magic beam at Link, leaving them in a magic beam duel.

However, Link was too strong. The beam electrocuted Zelda, leaving her temporarily paralysed. Something felt different inside Zelda, like her magic just left her.

"Zel, are you okay?" Midna asked.

"No. It felt like he was sucking the magic out of me, it was horrible!" Zelda cried.

"He's too strong for Zelda, so if we combine our magic together, we could beat him!" Hilda suggested.

Link created a beam again, but this time Zelda, Midna and Hilda put their magic together and pushed their magic forward towards Link. Their magic eventually hit Puppet Link and he screamed out in pain, before dropping to the floor on his hands and knees panting. That was when Zelda saw the opening. "Midna! Do it! Before he recovers!"

Midna used her magic to create a circle around Puppet Link, trapping him. She then sent a beam at him. He screamed as he changed back into his normal self. Regular Link dropped back down to the ground, panting.

'What happened? Where am I?' Link thought.

"LINK!!!" Zelda screamed with joy.

Midna magic had kept him alive, but that will run out soon and he'll die. Midna figured she shouldn't tell Zelda and ruin the moment, so she held her tongue.
