Chapter VI
Chapter 6: Tolerance
Zelda's Point of View
The trip back was hard. Florence and her crew had eventually found us. The green hand was keeping this 'thing' down, so we could escape. Link was still unconscious. I contacted Purah to tell her we were coming to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. I asked her if she could ask Robbie to come there too. We figured that Hateno was closer than Akkala. Now we are at the Tech Lab.
"Purah! Is he gonna be okay?" I asked.
"I can't say until I do further tests, which requires Robbie to be here," Purah said, just as Robbie burst through the door.
"Help has arrived! Purah, fill me in!" Robbie said.
"Snap! So, Zelda arrived with an unconscious Link, who is still unconscious, but you should look at his ri-left arm," Purah said.
Robbie went over to the table that Link was lying on. "Hmm," he hummed, while examining Link's arm. "Looks like..." he started. Everyone's faces lit up. "Ancient Technology," Robbie finished.
Purah rolled her eyes. "I got that much," she said. "Zelda! Tell us what happened again!" She ordered. Suddenly a machine started beeping. "Ooh! Zelda, you tell Robbie, I have to tend to my special project!"
Purah went outside, her golden headset glistening in the sun as she went round the back of the lab. I told Robbie what happened.
"Zonai," was all Robbie said.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"The Zonai were Sheikah in a way, this is their technology. Their magic was exactly what you described," Robbie explained.
Purah came back in with a small animal figure in her hand. She placed the figure on the table, then she walked over to us.
"If the Zonai are involved, then it could be dangerous for Link. We need to keep an eye on his vitals, there's no telling if he'll survive the change in his body," Purah said with a serious voice.
"He's suffering," I said.
My heart fell, I couldn't bear to even imagine that Link was suffering. With that, Purah, Robbie and me, started hooking Link up to various machines. As I was putting the heart monitor on Link, I started blushing, I had never seen his bare chest. I looked at the screen, his heart was beating slower than usual.
"Purah! His heart!" I cried.
Purah ran over, she put a hand on the screen. "It's okay, however we worry if it gets slower," she said. "Go to bed, you need rest. Goodnight."
I merely nodded. However, I didn't go to bed.
I woke up on Link. I started blushing instantly. I blushed more when I saw Purah and Robbie nearby. I didn't remember falling asleep on Link.
"Oh! You're awake!" Purah said, realising that I was awake.
"H-how long have you been working there?" I asked nervously.
"Two hours," Robbie replied.
"We figured you'd had a long day yesterday, so we didn't wake you, plus you were sleeping like a log, you didn't even wake up when Robbie dropped the big metal hammer, and made the loudest bang I'd heard in years!" Purah said, pointing to a giant hammer on the table.
"What were you two talking about?" I asked.
"Link, we're really worried about him," Robbie said.
"Tell me after I get changed," I said.
I went into the dressing room. I put on my Royal travel outfit and my light comfy boots. I then started braiding my hair. Once I had finished I went back to Link.
"We are worried about his heart. It's slow, which means that he's in possible danger." Robbie said.
The room went dead quiet. The only noise was the beeping of the heart monitor. Suddenly I heard the heart monitor change its pitch and saw it start flashing.
"His heart!" I cried.
I looked at the screen. On the screen there was a flatline, indicating that his heart had stopped.
Purah attempted CPR. Link's heart started again.
"Phew," Purah said.
"I think it's time to call the doctor, at least to be here if something like that happens again," Robbie said.
Two hours later the doctor came and knocked on the door.
"Hello," Robbie said, answering the door.
He took one glance at the two people standing at the door. The first one had black hair with pink streaks, pink eyes, strangely. Her clothes were hospital clothes, and her badge said Chrissy Carter and underneath was the hospital motto Save a life, gain a life.
The second person had brown hair with orange streaks, orange eyes, and was wearing normal clothes, however she had a badge on. The badge said Exchange Student Homica Everglade, underneath her name it said Hebra University.
The first girl stepped forward. "Hello! I'm Dr. Chrissy Carter and this is an exchange student from Hebra Uni, Homica Everglade!" She said, while Robbie let them in.
"Hope you don't mind that I brought Homica with me?" Chrissy asked.
"No, not at all, Homica is welcome here as well," Robbie said. "Well, I am Robbie, this is Purah and this lovely lady is Zelda."
I only nodded.
"May I ask, where is the patient?" Homica asked.
"Right this way," I said with a shaky voice.
I led them to Link, who was still unconscious. Homica gasped when we got there. After a few hours of nothing, I decided to go outside and get some fresh air. Homica joined me soon after.
"I know what you're going through," she said.
"Oh really?" I questioned, doubting that she actually did.
"Yeah, my mother, she had a heart attack, she's in hospital, the doctors say she's never gonna wake up," Homica replied. "But I believe in a miracle," she suddenly added.
"I'm sorry, f-for your l-loss," I said.
Then I started crying.
"Oh stop it!" Homica shouted.
"Sorry," I said.
I went inside. What a day. I took one last glance at Link before going to bed.
...
Over the next few days, Link had had a few more episodes with his heart. Chrissy and Homica were there to save him, luckily. Yesterday had been the most frightening day so far, the doctors had to use the defibrillator. That was when I said that I would never ever leave his bedside again. For I fear that these will be my last moments with him.
Today is a new day, and I'm still at Link's bedside. Link was becoming very pale and skinny. No food or water had been given to him. I was afraid he'd stave to death. I decided to look at the Sheikah Slate. I found a video from two months ago, when I suggested that we should sing a song that I found. We sang Tribe. I pressed play on the video.
He looked so happy. Even though the song was about war. A tear ran down my cheek, I was crying. I wanted to scream. I looked back at Link and started to lose hope. He was never going to make it. He'll die.
Link's Point of View
Music, I heard music. For the first in forever I heard something. I could hear a girl crying. Loud sobs tore through her body, breaking her heart. I couldn't tell who it was. My eyes were closed, I could move my arms or do anything really. All I could do was listen. I heard constant beeping, it was about to drive me crazy. Then everything stopped. No hearing, no sight, no feeling, just blackness. Was this heaven? Just as I thought that, a pain shot through my body. Am I dead? Was this hell? Sure felt like it! I heard another track play, it was me and Teba!
I wanted to open my eyes, so I tried, they opened! I heard a voice scream.
"Link!" The voice said.
3rd Person
...
Somewhere in a dark room, a figure approached another figure who sat on a chair, acting like it was a throne.
"Master, they're hiding out in Hateno, the knight, he got injured," a voice said.
"Great! This is great! We head to Hateno at dawn!" Another voice boomed.
