I felt my heart freeze when I heard a familiar melody play and a slight vibration followed against my thighs. My phone: it was ringing. I didn't know why I got so terrified at the sound of ringtone, but the thought of this Hoseok guy was doing something to my heart. No one was ever capable of intimidating me, but for some unknown reason, Hoseok was doing this task very professionally. To me, just the fact that he existed was intimidating. I didn't like it, but there was nothing I could about it.

I pulled out my ringing phone from my tight pocket very slowly, hoping that the caller ID didn't spell 'Unknown'. Unfortunately, the word 'Unknown' was sprawled wide and clear across my phone screen and I couldn't do anything but think about my next step very carefully and thoroughly. The chances that the caller was Hoseok were very slim, but they did exist, so I wasn't willing to take any chances. However, something in me wanted it to be him, and that same something was pushing me into wanting to answer him and have a talk, even though it would risk me a lot of things. I clenched my jaws then swiped the green button to the right and reluctantly raised the phone to my ears.

"H-hello?" I said first, heart beating like drums during festival nights.

"Sun Hee, it's me. Jimin," I heard and just the sound of his voice made my whole body relax. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding and allowed my body to collapse.

"Jimin," I let out a sigh of relief," Why is your number registered as unknown on my phone? I remember calling you before."

"I'm sorry. My phone ran out of charge, and I had to call you urgently," He said, and I smiled for no absolute reason.

"What is up?" I asked him.

"I can't speak over the phone about this. I just wanted to ask you if you are free today after your work at uni is over. I wanted to talk to you privately. Maybe we can hang out at a cafe, or better yet at your house or mine," He said, so I furrowed my eyebrows then pulled out the paper that had my whole day planned out.

I skimmed through it then said," Yeah, I'm free. I guess? We can meet at six at my house if that is better for you."

"Yeah it is better. I'm sorry for bothering you. I know you are busy and stuff, I just-" I heard but interrupted him.

"No no don't apologize! You are welcome to call me at anytime. See you at six," I said before hearing him say, "alright," and hanging up.

I put my phone down on my desk in relief and reviewed my schedule a bit more carefully to make sure that I was actually free. There was a meeting scheduled for me to attend, but it was going to end before six anyway, so it was alright. I put that paper away before resuming my work. I had loads of papers to read and a lot more to score.

Every now and then my mind would drift off to what Jimin had to tell me. He was a friend of mine ever since middle school. Not only that, but he was also a police officer in a nearby station, so I kind of guessed what he had to talk to me about, but I still felt a bit curious. Time passed really slowly and it felt like pure torture. I kept on checking the time almost every passing minute, and it felt like my work hours weren't bound to end any time soon, so instead of bothering myself, I decided to keep myself busy by focusing on what I had to do.

The meeting wasn't any better than the rest of my work day. We had to sit there for almost an hour and a half to discuss the evaluation tests that we wanted our students to sit, and I can confirm the fact that it was the most boring hour and a half of my entire life. I had to act like I was interested when I was, in fact, planning out scenarios of me and Jimin meeting again after so long. The last time we both saw each other was a year ago, and I missed him terribly. I was kept busy with my work though and so was he, so we didn't feel the strong need to to visit each other, mainly because time wasn't in our favor. We kept in touch every now and then though, but it was still difficult for him because he knows how I feel about having others call me when I'm busy. He didn't know anything about my working schedule, so to him, my whole day is reserved for work and only work.

The moment the meeting was over, I hurried over to my car and didn't waste any time to start the engine and drive off. As everyone knows, when you feel really excited about something, it never really happens, or just takes time to actually happen. That was why everything around me was suddenly moving really slowly, and it frustrated me, so at the very end of the day, I knew that I was going to have to apologize to my car horn for all the honking it had to do.

Once I reached my intended destination, I saw a familiar black, Kia K5 parked in my usual spot, so I smiled to myself before searching for another place to park. When my car was parked safely, I immediately got out and locked it then ran to the entrance of the building. I pressed my desired floor number on the elevator and waited. The moment the elevator door opened, I ran as fast as I possibly could towards the door and typed in my passcode. Jimin was the one who helped me set my code so he was most probably already in the apartment. I pushed the door open and ran into the house with a wide smile but stopped running when I found my place turned upside down. Jimin was sitting there on my couch, face buried into his hands, but stood up when he heard the door lock again. I looked around my house in shock and fear. My chairs were turned upside down and thrown everywhere, my papers were scattered all over the place, the books on my shelves were all on the floor, and the rest of my things were also thrown, making the whole place look like a pure mess. I felt tears form in my eyes as I registered what I was seeing.

"Sun Hee," I heard Jimin call out gently before engulfing me into a hug, but I couldn't even bring myself to hug him back. I just stared at the sight in front of me with awe, eyes twinkling due to the amounts of tears in them. Jimin rubbed my back in comfort, but I pulled myself away from him.

"W-what happened? Why is my place like this?" I asked him.

He gulped before saying," I don't know. I just got here a few minutes ago and when I entered, I was shocked just was much as you were."

I looked around once more before looking at Jimin again. He too looked like he was frustrated, but he was trying his best to cover it up for me. His presence was reassuring, and I was thankful for it especially at that moment.

"Let's have a seat first before talking about any of this. You look tired," He said and pulled me along.

He pushed my down gently on the couch before taking a seat next to me. I was still in shock and observing my surroundings, but Jimin interrupted me.

"From the extremely horrified expression on your face, I think I can assume that you have an idea of who could've done such a horrible thing," He said, so I turned my head to look at him very rapidly.

"And by the way you just reacted right now, I think I know who you are suspecting," He said, making my heart hammer even stronger against my rib cage.

He just looked into my eyes for a couple of seconds, trying to read my mind. He was not a hypnotist and he knew nothing of psychology, but he was always the one who was capable of reading my mind, and that was why I was like an open book to him. I always tried to hide myself, but he somehow managed to find me.

"Sun Hee. Can we forget about my occupation for a moment and talk like childhood friends?" He asked me so suddenly. I was taken aback by his question, but I still nodded.

"You know how much I love you right?" He asked me, taking me aback one more time, but I still managed to answer with a "yes".

"And, you know that no matter what, I'll never be capable of hurting you," He added, making me nod in response.

He stared into my eyes for some more seconds before adding," Then can you tell me everything you know about this Jung Hoseok guy?"
