"I'll buy the tickets and popcorn." Lucas urged. Riley shook her head. "No, a friend doesn't let her other friend pay for the whole thing. I'll buy the tickets." Riley replied, setting her hands down on the counter. The lady working the ticket booth looked utterly confused.
"I'm trying to be nice here Riley, I'm paying. Now what movie?" Lucas asks. Riley lets out an annoyed huff. "Mocking Jay part 2, and I really don't want you to pay for everything-" Riley replies in a bothered tone, starting to pull out her money but Lucas gently takes her hand.
"I got it." He whispers.
Riley is just stunned. Lucas gives the lady the money, before dragging Riley through the entrance. Riley whacked his arm.
"Ow!" Lucas yelped, holding his shoulder. "What was that for?" Lucas whined.
"For not letting me pay for something." Riley said, trying to not let a little laugh escape. It was kind of funny to her.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah, well sorry for being nice." He shook his head.
They both walked up to the food counter.
"Popcorn and chocolate please." Lucas asked the guy at the counter. The guy nodded at Lucas before looking over at Riley, looking her up and down, making her shiver. What a pervert, she thought. Lucas noticed and his jaw clenched. "Thank you." Lucas said quite loudly. The guy at the counter glared at Lucas, before walking off to get the food.
"Thank you." Riley suddenly said. Lucas looked over to her. "Yeah. It's just whatever, it's what friends do right." He slightly smiled. Lucas was actually being kind, Riley liked this side of him very much.
The guy came back and rang up the amount of money.
"I'm going to pay for this though. Here." Riley said, handing the guy the money. "Thank you miss." He smirked. Riley scoffed as he handed Lucas the popcorn and chocolate. They quickly headed off towards the theater entrance.
"Lucas, wait." Riley said, stepping in front of him, almost making Lucas trip over himself. "Yeah?" He asked curiously. "Can you promise me something?" Riley hesitantly asked, as she bit the side of her lip. Lucas just stared into her eyes, he could get lost in them in a matter of a second. She had so much hope buried beneath them, he could see it. He could practically read her like an open book, and she didn't even know it.
"I'm not very good at keeping promises." He replied. Riley face was emotionless for a moment, before she suddenly smiled. Lucas was surprised, she actually wasn't pissed at something he said for the first time in forever.
"I'm not the best at keeping them either. I promised my friend once that I wouldn't ever tell her mother that her daughter ate a cookie when she wasn't supposed to, I broke that promise." Riley replys. Lucas chuckles. "How does that even correlate to what I'm saying? Come on, we're going to miss the movie." Lucas groaned again, as he started to walk off but Riley stopped him once more, holding her hands on his chest.
"Just tell me that you'll be honest with me. For us to maybe get to know each other a little if we're going to get along." Riley asked hopefully. Lucas just looked at her for a moment, before responding.
"Fine." Was all he said. Riley smiled in victory. Just then Lucas looked down, realizing her hands were still on his body. He smirked. Riley noticed it too and quickly pulled away.
"I don't mind you keeping them there." Lucas chuckled. Riley lightly whacked his arm with a small giggle. "Come on, let's hurry before the movie starts." Riley chimed, before they both headed in.

Riley walked out of the theatre room, mouth wide open.
"That did not just happen.." She gasped, staring out in front of her, doe wide eyes. Lucas tried to hold back his smile, it was cute.
"I just can't believe she die-" "Sh! I don't wanna think about it or I will cry." Riley cut him off instantly. Lucas stopped speaking, he wouldn't be able to bare her crying. It would just hurt him.
They both suddenly bursted out in chuckles.
"Okay douche I'm going to go to the restroom." Riley said, as she headed towards the women's bathroom. "Whatever, prissy." Lucas remarked back with a smirk. Riley glared at him before walking into the restroom.

I finished washing my hands, I checked my makeup before walking out of the bathroom. I suddenly felt myself collide into someone else. I tend to do that a lot apparently.
"Whoops I'm sorry." I said, before the figure turned around. It was a guy, he looked about 18. He had dark brown hair. He wasn't very handsome looking, at least to me.
"Where do you think you're going?" He asked. I looked around the room, and I didn't see Lucas. Oh my God, I need Lucas. Where is Lucas! I felt my heart start to shake. "I'm leaving, is where I'm going." I snipped, turning to leave but he grabbed me, pulling me closer. "Let go of me!" I yelled, struggling to get away from his grasp. "You're not going anywhere, not with that pretty face of yours." He disgustingly chuckled, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. I quickly shut my eyes, about to kick him, before I felt a force push him away.
Suddenly Lucas was standing right in front of me, holding me back.

"What the hell is going on here." Lucas spat, holding Riley back behind him. The guy chuckled, picking himself up. "None of your business pretty boy, why don't you get the fuck out of here." The guy sputtered. Lucas clenched his jaws, he was ready to throw a punch, and Riley knew it. So she gently set her hand on top of his.
Lucas instantly felt himself calm down a bit. Even though he was still furious. He looked back behind him, into Riley's eyes, to make sure she was okay.
She lightly curved her lips upward. Her eyes were bright, and he could tell she was scared, but she knew that if Lucas was there she was okay. She just didn't want him to hurt himself anymore. So she lightly squeezed his hand.
Lucas's clenched jaw relaxed, and now he was just looking at Riley softly. He glanced back to the guy, and his expression hardened a bit again. He moved forward, as Riley's hand slowly slipped from his.
Lucas got up close to the guy. "I suggest you leave, or you'll regret it. And if I ever, and I mean ever, see you put your hands on her again, you'll regret that even more." Lucas said sternly yet quietly, so Riley wouldn't hear. The guy glared at Lucas and Riley, before finally walking off.
Riley stood there, arms crossed over her body as she looked down to the floor. She felt so vulnerable. She held her wrist where that guy grabbed.
Lucas turned around, before rushing back over to her. She didn't look up. She just continued to stare at the ground.
Lucas looked at her with pleading eyes, he just needed to look in hers to make sure she was okay.
He took his fingers, and gently set them underneath her chin, lifting her head up so she could look in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked. He stared deeply into her chocolate brown eyes, looking for some sort of sign.
She suddenly nodded, quickly moving his hand away. "I'm okay." She assured him, looking back down to her wrist.
Lucas followed her gaze, and noticed her red wrist. He gently held It. "He did this to you? He hurt you?" Lucas asked. Riley shook her head. "He grabbed me that's it, but I pulled away, which I guess is why it's red." She said as if it was nothing. Lucas felt angered again.
"But hey, I'm okay. It doesn't hurt. I bruise like a peach anyway." Riley put on a fake smile, trying to cheer up the mood. Lucas still had a stern expression, before Riley made a goofy face. Lucas lightly smiled.
"Do you want to go grab a bite?" Lucas softly asked, still trying to make sure she was okay. Riley smiled. "Yes, surprisingly I'm still hungry." She chuckled. Lucas laughed, "Okay let's go." He replied.

Riley giggled as they headed out of Chipotle, it was one of Riley's favorite places. It definitely cheered her up.
Lucas and Riley started walking down the sidewalk, as the breeze gently blew Riley's hair, it felt peaceful.
"So yeah, that's why Zay's like that." Lucas chuckled, referring to the story he just told Riley about Zay. Riley giggled again.
"I was scared of him at first, but that makes me feel better. I mean he left the match just to shove popcorn in his face, makes logical sense." Riley said. Lucas chuckled. "Yep, he's not too bad." Lucas says. Riley nodded, with a smile as they continued to walk down the sidewalk.
"So.. What about your friends?" Lucas queried. Riley looked down to her hands. "It's kind of complicated." She replied. "I got time." Lucas responded. Riley took a deep breath.
"Okay, well. Me and Maya are in a fight, and Farkle won't reply to me or talk to me. And Isadora won't speak to me either." Riley says, frowning.
"They would be insane to not be your friend." Lucas says, as he glances over to Riley. Riley catches his gaze, and she suddenly felt her cheeks flush up. She smiled as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"And...well, me and Charlie aren't together anymore so..that's another person that hates me. So you're kind of my only friend " Riley muffled. Lucas scoffed. "Charlie Gardner was a douchebag anyway." He says. "Excuse me! He is not, he just wasn't the right guy for me." Riley sputtered furiously.
"Then who is the right guy for you?" Lucas asked, stepping in front of Riley.
Riley looked up to Lucas, completely caught off guard.
She knew, deep down inside, she knew who the right guy was. She just hasn't admitted it to herself yet.
"I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you." She replied with a slightly evil smirk, moving over to the side to continue walking. As she walked she hummed lightly, before she noticed that Lucas was running up to catch up to her.
"Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran."
Lucas suddenly said. Riley fluttered her eyes open, as she glanced over to Lucas. "How'd you know?" She smiled. He shrugged. "I listen to him, sometimes." Lucas spoke softly. Riley flashed an innocent smile. She didn't know what it was about Lucas, maybe it was his demeanor, his talent to change personality in a matter of a second, or just his mysterious heart, but something about him made Riley curious, excited.
Riley's eyes were pounding over Lucas for to long, as he noticed. Lucas softly smiled back.
"You should smile more often, it suits you well." Lucas spoke, as he tilted his head forward as they trotted along the sidewalk. Riley could actually feel her cheeks heat up, before she covered them with her hands and looked down. She couldn't keep a smile off of her face.
All Lucas could do was stare at her. The moonlight was shining the from the sky above, making her eyes and hair glisten. He didn't know what to admit to himself at the moment, but all he knew was that she was the most beautiful thing he has ever seen.
Riley could feel a pair of eyes on her, so she glanced up.
"What?" She asked, lightly laughing. It was like music to Lucas's ears. He shook his head. "It's just, you're different, audacious."
Lucas lifted up the corner of his lip. Riley was like beyond anyone he had ever met before. I guess that's one of the things that intrigued him so much. It was from the first glance, that they felt like they knew each other immediately.
"I just want to be me. I don't want to be a carbon copy of anyone else, because I'm not. All these cells, atoms, protons, veins, everything thats in me, that's makes me, me. I have a beating heart that pumps air and blood into my system so I can breathe. It does it all for me, so why should I be something I'm not when I have all these things keeping me alive, so I can do what I want in life. I don't know why I'd want to portray anyone else." Riley replied.
Lucas was astonished by the words that just came out of her mouth. He just felt his heart beat ten times faster.
"I guess I'm getting to know you more everyday." He chuckled. Riley giggled. "Sorry, if that was a lot. I just speak strongly about things I'm passionate about." She spoke.
Lucas nodded.
Riley raised her eyebrow in curiosity. "What about you? It always seems like I'm stuck at a wall trying to figure you out." Riley starting skipping. Lucas sucked in a sharp breath.
"Because there's not much to me." He replied, I'm what he felt like was honesty. Riley didn't believe it, not one bit.
"Friends talk but real friends listen. I don't think you understand how hard it was for me, going to a strange illegal boxing arena? To me, that's not even realistic. I can't just sit here and not know why. I'm tired of the lies. I just want to know why." Riley gently said. She wasn't mad, she was just, sort of hurt.
Lucas didn't tense up, he didn't feel angry. He knew he had to tell her something, and that's what he was going to do. Lucas couldn't possibly fathom or even began to think of telling Riley the actual truth, but he could tell her some of it, she deserved it after all.
"I live alone, don't ask why I just always have up until I was 15 because I moved out. My parents, I don't talk to them. So...when I met Zay, he said he that his uncle was looking for a rookie boxer to do fights. I heard the money price and I stepped in, to pay the bills and stuff." Lucas responded, sort of awkwardly.
Riley broke her gaze from his eyes, as she breathed.
"That's terrible. I'm sorry." Riley said. Lucas just looked down to his feet, before letting out a small, fake laugh.
"It just happened. Can't do anything about it now so I just kind of deal with it...but the real question is now, am I forgiven?" Lucas open heartedly asked. Riley breathed deeply again, before she fumbled with the lace on her sleeves.
"You were forgiven the moment I walked out of the door from you the night of the fight." Riley replied. Lucas felt a weight lift off his shoulders. She doesn't hate him.
Riley smiled innocently. Lucas pursed his lips together, before something caught his eye. He smirked slightly. "Stay right there." Lucas suddenly said. Riley giggled. "Why?" She asked. "Just look forward and stand still." Lucas remarked. Riley rolled her eyes, as she looked forward, closing her eyes.
Lucas pondered around, before he stood in front of Riley.
"Okay." Lucas retorted.
Riley hesitated, raising one eyebrow before her eyes fluttered open, to see Lucas holding a beautiful white rose in front of her. She smiled.
He had a smoldering expression, which made her tilt her head back and laugh. She took the delicate flower in her hands.
"For you, lady." Lucas said in an accent. Riley laughed, before looking at Lucas. She raised her one eyebrow, squinting her eyes towards Lucas.
"Are you trying to seduce me?" Riley bluntly asked. Lucas grinned, with a slight laugh. "Why, are you seducable?" Lucas asked, as he went back to his smoldering expression. Riley couldn't keep the serious expression her face any longer. She shook her head with a smile.
"Yeah I didn't think so." Lucas chuckled, before they continued to walk down the quiet part of town. It was like a tiny village in New York.
Suddenly Riley heard music, before something caught her eye. She gasped, hitting Lucas to stop him. "Ow." Lucas whined.
"Look!" Riley exclaimed, pointing. There was a little park, with old couples dancing on a dance floor set up with a band and rows and rows of chairs with Christmas lights strung around, as Give Me Love was playing. Riley's eyes lit up in excitement.
Riley stepped closer, and Lucas followed. "Look at all the sweet old couples!" Riley gasped in awe, before she felt herself swaying to the music. Riley stood there, closing her eyes as the melody strung along, before she felt herself singing along, like there was no one there.
Lucas's jaw dropped in awe, at how angelic Riley's voice was. Music mesmerized Riley, she loved it. But hardly no one knew that.
Riley stepped through the gate, and near the dance floor. Lucas stood on the outside of the gate, as he watched her.
The music embraced Riley before she felt herself joining the small dance floor, as her heart danced along to the song.
"Oh-oh I just want to hold ya." Riley sang as she danced. Lucas couldn't believe what he was seeing, it was as if the most perfect angel was before him.
Riley spun around, before she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. Riley giggled, caught off guard. "What are you doing?" She asked. Lucas smiled, setting his hand on her waist.
"Friends can dance together right?" Lucas queried. Riley nodded. "Sure." She smiled. Suddenly the chorus came along, before Lucas spun Riley around, pulling her back into his chest as she laughed, his chin set on her shoulder and her face beneath his. They danced in perfect sync, as there hands laced together.
Lucas spun Riley around again, making her laugh over and over, as he sometimes tickled her slightly on the sides. "I didn't know that you my friend were such a good dancer." Riley giggled.
"I've learned a few things." He smirked, before turning her around, as his arms wrapped around her waist and her back lay against his chest. He smiled into her hair and she felt butterflies erupt in her stomach. In this moment, she forgot. She forgot all about being friends, about everything he's done,
She was just with him,
And he was just with her.
And that was all that mattered in that moment, as they both felt like the world around them was frozen, and it was just the two of them, together.
There bodies swayed, as the song came close to an end. He twirled her, and suddenly her arms wrapped around his neck, and there foreheads were touching.
They both breathlessly stared at each other's lips, before a slight space came in between them. Riley looked up into Lucas's eyes, before he softly dipped her down, and the song ended.
They both just gazed at each other, as everyone around them clapped. Suddenly realization hit, and Lucas set Riley back up, Riley more speechless than ever before.
"W-We should pr-robably get home." Riley stuttered. "U-uh, yeah." Lucas awkwardly said. Riley glanced around the magical place, before Lucas took her home.
>>>>>>>>>>>
"Haha...yeah, tonight was..cool. It was nice to just um, hangout." Riley said, awkwardly smiling as she remembered them dancing.
"Yep. Just two friends, dancing. Completely friendly." Lucas scratched the back of his neck. Riley nodded, as they stood outside her front door. It was silent forms moment, before Riley put her hand to her chest, but something was missing.
"Oh no." Riley gasped. "What is it?" Lucas asked. "M-My necklace! It's not on my neck!" Riley panicked, looking down the hallway. "It must've fallen off when we were dancing." Riley stuttered. "Rile-" "That necklace meant the world to me I-" "Riley-" "I can't lose it my grandma gave that to me-" "Riles!" Lucas exclaimed. Riley looked at him. "What?" She asked, confused, Lucas suddenly got close to her, before she felt his finger entangle with her hair. He pulled out a silver chain from her brown strands.
"It was in your hair." Lucas chuckled. Riley's face lit up in embarrassment. "I'm sorry. This necklace means everything to me." Riley said. "It's fine." Lucas spoke softly, holding the necklace in her fingers. Riley pursed her lips, before Lucas suddenly and delicately swooped his fingers underneath her hair, and clasping the necklace behind her neck.
"There." He whispered. Riley just had a blank expression, even though inside of her was stirring like crazy.
"I did have a fun time tonight, but Lucas." Riley trailed off. "Yeah?" He asked. Riley tapped his chest with her finger. "Don't make me regret being your friend." She replied. Lucas's face went solemn, emotionless. He just nodded.
"Alright..Thanks for everything. Cya at school..buddy." Riley awkwardly said. Lucas just chuckled.
"Goodnight Riley." He said. Riley pursed her lips.
"Goodnight, Lucas." She whispered, before turning around and opening up her door, as she walked inside, shutting it.
Riley just stood there, both palms on the door with her forehead pressed against it, as she breathed.
Lucas was doing the exact same thing on the other side of the door.
It was silent, but they could hear there heartbeats, as they were in sync.
But undeniably, that was the best night of Riley's life, and Lucas could say the same thing.
