I stood at Maya's locker, gazing off. Maya snapped her fingers in front of my eyes. "What?" I said, snapping out my daze. "You're still thinking about the kiss with Charlie?" Maya questioned. I blushed. "It was my first kiss.." I said sheepishly. Maya rolled her eyes with a smile. "Well, I can tell you I don't care about boys. Boy are stupi—" Suddenly Maya shut her locker, setting her elbow on it and posing. I turned my head to see what she was looking at. Josh and Charlie were walking over to us. I laughed at Maya. So much for boys being stupid.
"Hey Riley." Josh said. "Hi." I replied. "Hey, Maya." Josh said, in a deeper tone. Maya twirled a piece of hair around her finger. "Hello." She smiled. I turned my head towards Charlie.
"Hi." I smiled brightly. "Hey." Charlie grinned. "I wanted to thank you again for last night, I had a great time." I gushed. Charlie ruffled his hand through his brown, slightly wavy hair. "I had a great time also. Maybe we can do it again sometime?" He said. I felt a smile creep up onto my lips as I glanced over to Maya. She winked at me. I looked back to Charlie.
"Well I can't wait till we do it again." I smiled, adjusting the bag on my shoulder. "How about next Saturday?" He asked, with a hopeful smile. "Sounds good to me. Where do you want to go?" I responded. "Movies?" He asked. "Perfect." I smiled.
"Okay. Well I'll see you later." He smiled. "Bye Josh." I heard Maya say. "Bye, Maya." He winked at her, waving me off goodbye before they walked away. Me and Maya both turned towards each other, giggling as we jumped up and down.
"Josh is in love with me, I just know it." Maya said quite bluntly. I laughed as walked to class. "Sure, whatever you say peaches." I replied as we walked into organic chemistry. I felt myself accidentally bump into someone. "Oh I'm sorry." I said quietly, before I saw who it was. Conner.
"Watch where you're going, bitch." He spat. I felt Maya grab my arm. "Riley ignore him." Maya whispered to me. I nodded my head, before looking back to Conner. He had an evil smirk, as he sat on top of his desk, with his other friends who were looking at me as if I was meat. Not surprising, they're all dogs.
"A bitch is a dog, a dog goes outside outside is nature nature is trees and trees are beautiful so, thank you for calling me beautiful, Conner." I smiled. I just now realized how random that was. He furrowed his eyebrows at me, before I grabbed Maya's arm and I quickly walked back to my seat.
"That didn't come out how I expected it too." I laughed quietly.
"Honey nugget, you tried. I know how hard that was for you." Maya patted my head as I laughed. Conner just glared at me from across the room.
Suddenly Ms. Leslie walked in and everyone sat down and was quiet, except for a few kids in the back. I glanced over to my right, and saw Missy scowling at me. What did I ever do to her?

I walked into the cafeteria with Maya, as we glanced around for Farkle. As I was looking around, my eyes caught with Lucas's. He looked away. I sighed. I felt Maya poke me.
"Found Farkle. I'm not that hungry so I'm going to go over and sit with him, okay?" Maya said. "Okay." I smiled, before Maya walked over to the table. I turned around, starting to head towards the lunch line. I was about to pass by Missy's table, before I heard her yell my name.
"Hey look, there's the trash can!" Missy spat, pointing towards me, before she grabbed a handful of food, throwing it towards me. I squinted my eyes, before I suddenly felt myself get pushed up against a wall. I expected to feel mashed potatoes fly allover me, by I was completely dry.
I quickly opened up my eyes, before I felt lost in time. His mysterious, beautiful green eyes stared into mine. His forehead was pressed against mine, and I could feel his minty breath tingle against my lips.
I just then realized what he did.
Lucas pulled his hands away from the sides of me, as he stared into my eyes. I was breathless.
He turned around, and glared at Missy. I could see all of the food splattered on his back. I gasped.
Everyone was staring at us, some people shouting at Lucas and others, aka Missy cursing to me. Suddenly Lucas quickly stormed out of the cafeteria. I just stood there breathless. Farkle and Maya ran over to me.
"Are you okay!?" Maya exclaimed. All I could do was stare at where Lucas was once standing.
"I-I don't know." I said quietly. Suddenly I rushed out of the cafeteria. I saw Lucas at the end of the hallway.
"Wait! Lucas!" I yelled, running after him, but he was too far away. He walked out the school doors. I was about to run after him again, but I heard Maya behind me.
"Riley!" Maya yelled at me down the hall. I swiftly turned around.
Farkle and her stared at me in shock. I looked back to the doors, where. Lucas walked out. I sighed, before turning my head back towards Maya.
"I'm coming." I called back.
Lucas Friar saved me again,
He saved me twice.
I smiled at the thought.
My hero.

I glanced in the mirror at myself. Average brown hair, average brown eyes. I sighed. I wished I had Maya's eyes, her eyes are so much prettier than regular brown ones. I took a pony tail and pulled my hair up into a high ponytail. Lucas was coming over, to study, of course. I still can't help but think about earlier.
"Riley! Someone's at the door for you!" I heard my mom yell. I sighed, here goes nothing. I walked out of my bedroom and hopped along to the front door, passing by my dad. "Who's here, Riley?" My dad asked.
"My friend, who I'm tutoring." Totally lying about the friend part. I opened up the door, and there stood Lucas. His hair was messy, and his leather jacket was all wrinkled, and his eyes were still mysterious.
"Hi." I said quietly. For once, I saw him lightly smile. "Hey." He said back.
I suddenly heard my dad rush up behind me.
"And who might this be?" My dad said, standing in front of me. You've got to be kidding me. His arms were crossed as he stared at Lucas. Lucas looked, intimidated for once. He looked over my dad's shoulder to me.
"This is Lucas Friar," I said to to dad, quickly glancing back at my mom. She ran over to save me. "Well Lucas Friar," my mom said, pulling my dad back. "I'm Mrs. Matthews." My mom smiled. My dad glared at me. Lucas smiled back to her.
"It's nice to meet you ma'am." Lucas said, shaking my moms hand. I just stood there shocked.
"Well, Lucas, any friend of Riley's is welcome here. Come in." My mom smiled at him, moving so he could walk in. Lucas looked at me, giving me a smile. I just stood in the same place, mouth wide open.
My dad walked up to Lucas. "Mr. Matthews." He said bluntly, before roughly shaking Lucas's hand. "Sorry if I make you uneasy Sir." Lucas smiled. My dad glanced at me before looking back at Lucas.
"Door stays opened at all times, and I'm sure your intentions are just to study." My dad said. Lucas stiffened up.
"I'd never have any other intentions." He said, making my heart skip a beat. My mom looked at me with a smile. I quickly snapped back into reality.
My mom walked over to my dad, rubbing his arm. My dad looked at my mom with a glare.
"Ok!" I said quite loudly. The awkwardness was unreal. "Me and Lucas don't have all night, so, we better get to studying." I said, giving my dad a quick glare before looking at Lucas. Lucas looked at me and nodded. We walked back to my bedroom.
Lucas trailed behind me, before I heard him chuckle. I turned around. He was glancing all around my room.
"Nice room." He smirked, before walking over to my bed. He plopped down, grabbing the teddy bear that was lying there and he lied it down on his stomach. I scowled at him, grabbing the bear and setting it down on the floor.
"You seemed so surprised." Lucas said, standing up and walking over to me. "By your manners?" I asked. He nodded. I shook my head.
"It doesn't surprise me that you're a good guy." I said, sitting down.
"I'm not the good guy, Riley." He responded, sitting down next to me at my desk. I turned my head, furrowing my eyebrows at him.
"There's always room for change." I said. He raised his eyebrow at me.
"Maybe, but it just seems too unrealistic for me."
I just stared at him.
"I don't believe that either." I replied softly. He looked up from his book, and into my eyes. He had a light smile. We just sat there for a moment, before I shook my head. I pushed a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Let's just start." I said.
I haven't heard a snarky, cocky, or rude comment from him in days. I continued explaining things to him for about thirty minutes, but I could see him stare up at me on and off. We'd make eye contact on and off, and it feel my stomach twirl around in circles. But I wanted him to pay attention.
"Why do you keep doing that?" I said, setting my pin. I set my elbow on the table and set my chin on my hand. He stopped writing and looked up to me. "Doing what?" He asked. "That." I said quietly, as he stared at me. He gave me a half smile.
"There's nothing to look at here, I'm just average looking. I mean look at me." I said, laughing lightly.
"I am."
He said, looking into my eyes, and around my face. My light smile faded, as I sat there speechless.

Her brown eyes sparkled, as she looked into mine. Her soft looking brown hair cascading down her sides. The sunset from outside, reflected off of her eyes, as she stared at me. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. She was beautiful.
"Thank you." She said gently. I sat up a bit straighter. "For what?" I asked.
"For saving me from Missy's food bullet." She softly chuckled. I looked down.
"Why did you do that?" I heard her ask. I suddenly felt all my walls crash down. There was no possible way to lie.
I looked back up into her eyes. They looked so hopeful.
"I.. I didn't wan—" I was cut off by a knock on the door. Me and Riley both jumped in our seats.
It was Mrs. Matthews.
"Sorry guys, but I'm going to call it a night. It's already 9:00." She smiled at me. She seemed nice.
Riley closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before looking at me with a half smile.
"Goodnight, Lucas." She said, voice a little bit rough. I grabbed my things.
"Good night, Riley." I whispered to her ear, before walking past a smiling Mrs. Matthews and out the door. I felt my heart skip a beat as I thought about the hope in her eyes.
