0.7; "She took my breath away."

                                                                                               L U C A S

I hopped out of Zays car and walked into the back door of the seemingly too familiar warehouse. The instant smell of blood and rust lingered through the air once I stepped in. Zay's Uncle, Jeremy waved over to me. I set my bag down before walking over to him, past the boxing ring.

"How you doin' Lucas?" He asked me. "Alright." I said. "Let's practice before the match tonight, Isaiah, wanna help him out?" Jermey asked. Zays eyes went wide, "If you want me to die!" Zay exclaimed. I laughed, before patting his back. "You'll do just fine, just don't be a slow shit." I winked at him, before putting on my gloves and entering the ring with a smug smirk. Zay cursed underneath his breath.

"Dumbass." He said, before walking over to grab a mouth guard and gloves. I practiced a few punches in the air, before Riley crossed my mind. If she ever found out about this, she'd never speak to me ever again. Not that she's barely speaking to me now, but still. I sighed, before Zay entered the ring.

"If I'm dead by the end of this, I'm going to kill you." Zay said, before putting on his helmet. He threw a few punches, pretending as if he knew what he was doing. I let out a laugh before Jermey blew the whistle. I went easy on him, giving him a call before I'd kick, punch or swing. Zay, being Zay, acted like a drama queen anytime I'd actually hit him. I swung over his head, and suddenly Riley came back to my mind. What she said earlier about me saving her from the dodge ball, why did I have to be a dick and lie to her? After gym she walked out into the hallway, and I remember once the bell rang I walked out and saw her talking to Charlie. My blood boiled just thinking about it. Suddenly before I knew it, Zay was on the ground.

"OW!" He yelled. I didn't realize that I actually just kicked him in the stomach.

"Shit! Sorry, wasn't paying attention." I said. "Clearly!" He screeched. I grabbed his hand and pulled him up. "Are you alright?" I asked. He nodded. "Alright Lucas, I don't want you to get to worn out, take a break until tonight." Jermey said. I nodded, spitting out my mouth guard and hopping out of the ring. I hated boxing, but I literally didn't have a choice. I'd be homeless, living on the streets if I wasn't doing this. I was all alone, by myself. I have to take of myself somehow.

I grabbed a water bottle, and chugging it down before Zay walked over to me.

"I know you don't want to do this tonight." Zay frowned. "I don't really have a choice, do I? I never wanted to do this in the first place." I replied, sitting down.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, tonight's the last fight for awhile. Back to practicing season." Zay said. I glanced at him.

"It doesn't make me feel better." I responded. He let out a dramatic sigh. "Save up money. Do as many fights as you possibly can, beat their asses and then get yourself out of this hell hole." Zay said. I stood up. "Then what? What happens after that money runs out? I don't have anything." I said. "I'll help you out." Zay grinned. "I can fend for myself." I snapped. Zay suddenly stood up. "It's fine to ask for help you know." He said. I sighed, ignoring his gaze.

"You know I'm right." Zay winked. "Oh stop pouting. Listen to me." He said in a girly tone. I couldn't help but laugh a bit. He patted my shoulder with a grin.

"Let's get you cleaned up before the match." Zay said and we both walked to the back.

                                                                                                  R I L E Y

It was finally the weekend, and I decided to take the day for myself, since Maya was sick and I figured Farkle wouldn't want to go shopping, considering that I was going to Victorias Secret, it would be embarrassing. I skipped along in the mall, before heading into Forever21. I was so in need of new clothes. I picked up some things from there headed into Mac and picked up some makeup before going to Victorias Secret.

I was exhausted after spending hours in the mall, and since the mall wasn't too far from Topanga's and home, I decided to go there to get a smoothie. I walked in, sitting down in a chair immediately, releasing all of the bags from my arms in relief. Suddenly I was my mom appear from the back smiling. She walked over to me.

"I see that you spent your money well." My mom laughed at all of the shopping bags. "Shopping is an addiction." I said to her with wide eyes. My mom rolled her eyes, smiling. "Do you want a strawberry smoothie?" My mom queried. I nodded with a goofy grin. "Okay." She said, before heading to the back. I heard the doorbell ring, but my phone also rang so I didn't see whom it was walking in.

(:Maya:

' hey riles! I'm feeling a bit better, wanna come talk for a few? Meet me at my bay window.'

I smiled. I'm glad shes feeling better! It's already been two days, the weekend passed in a huge blur.

Me:

'Ill be there in 20! At Topanga's right now getting a smoothie :D.

(:Maya:

' okay dokey :P'

I put my phone away into my pocket before I glanced up. Charlie Gardner was here. I felt my stomach flip upside down. He was talking to my mom, placing his order I presume since she was writing something down on a notepad. He smiled at my mom and she headed off to the back, before he turned around and his eyes met with mine. I blushed instantly. He smiled before walking over to me.

"Hey Riley." He said. "Hey Charlie." I smiled softly, trying to contain my butterflies. He looked at all my shopping bags and laughed. "Well I can't tell that you went to the mall earlier." He chuckled. I covered my face in embarrassment. "I've always had a problem with shopping." I giggled, and he just stared at me. "It's cute when you giggle." He said, making me 10x more red than I already was. I was now Riley The Tomato.

"T-Thanks." I said, stuttering slightly. He just smiled at me before my mom brought over my smoothie, and gave Charlie his that he must've ordered. "Who is thRiley?" My mom smiled. "This is Charlie Gardner, mom, we have English together. Charlie this is Topanga, my mom." I smiled. "Nice to meet you!" Charlie grinned at my mom. "You too." My mom smiled at him, before walking over to me. "He's cute." My mom whispered, but clearly Charlie heard and blushed. "Mom!" I whispered loudly. "Ok ok sorry, I'll leave you two alone." She chuckled before walking off.

Me and Charlie talked for what seemed like hours, about pointless things. I felt like we have known each other forever. Suddenly my phone beeped and I looked down at the time, we've been talking , and flirting, for over two hours. "Crap!" I suddenly said. "What's wrong?" Charlie asked. "I forgot that I was supposed to meet Maya an hour and 40 minutes ago! I have to go. I'm sorry Charlie, but I had a great time." I smiled at him, picking up my bags. "That's alright, I had a good time also. I'll see you tomorrow at school." I picked up my last bag, but as I looked up Charlie was standing right in front of me.

He leaned in and set a light kiss to my cheek, making me blush. "Bye, beautiful." He smiled. I quickly raced out, not saying anything else. Charlie Gardner just kissed me. He kissed, me!? I shook my head before busting into my apartment. I shut the door, "Hi sweetie! Did you have fu—" I cut him off. "Yeah so much fun but I need to go bye!" I yelled, slamming my door shut and throwing the numerous bags onto my bed. I quickly opened up my window, and climbed up the fire escape to Maya's window. I saw her sitting down at her desk, drawing. I lightly tapped on the window.

She turned around. She gave me a glare before turning back around. "Maya please open the window." I said. She stood up, walking over and pushing the window open. She sat down with a huff, turning her head to the side dramatically, not looking at me. I could tell she really wasn't upset.

"I'm sorry Maya. I forgot, I was talking to Charlie and—"

"You were talking to Charlie?" Maya suddenly looked at me.

"Uh—yeah, about that—" Maya cut me off with a grin. "What did you guys do!?" Maya exclaimed. "Well, uh, I lost track of time, and we ended up talking for over two hours. And then before I left he kissed my cheek.." I blushed deeply, stepping in through the window and sitting next to her. "Charlie Gardner kissed you!? I'm not mad anymore at you Riles, I'm so happy for you! You guys practically had a date!" She said. I laughed.

"It wasn't a date, we were just talking and drinking smoothies." I gushed. Maya just smiled. "I'm happy for you." She said. I frowned. "I'm sorry for not coming here when I said I would." I said. She shook her head. "It's fine, I'm just glad you're finally thinking about someone else other than Luc—" "DON'T speak of his name. I haven't thought about him in days." I said dramatically. Maya raised her eyebrow. "What happened." She crossed her arms. I sighed.

"He's my photography partner for the whole year." I frowned. Maya tried to hold back a smirky grin. "Shut up." I lightly hit her. "He really does push your buttons." Maya said. I scrunched up my nose. "He told me he doesn't care. But I know that he does Maya, he can't just be that rude without reasoning. I feel like he's broken. Something's had to of made him the way he is now." I said. Maya just shrugged her shoulders. "He's so ignorant. He treats girls like toys. It makes me so angry." I said.

"He's Lucas Friar, that's what he does."

Maya replied.

"I guess so."

I walked down the hallway, walking in my new red high top converse. Not that that was important, It wasn't, it's just the squeaky sounds that were coming from beneath me clearly was showing that they were brand new. It was actually annoying.

Maya covered her ears. "Sorry." I said, laughing. She shook her head, "It's fine, just don't wea—" Maya stopped in the middle of her sentence. "What is it?" I asked. Her mouth was open and all she could do was point. She pointed to a guy in a beanie, talking to Charlie.

"That's Charlie's best friend, Josh. I-I've had a crush on him since the first grade." Maya stuttered. I've never seen Maya nervous before. She's usually so chill and cool, but now she was shaking. I grinned, jumping up and down. "You have a crush!" I yelled whispered. She shushed me. "Don't tell anyone or I'll kill you." She said. "My lips are sealed." I said, pretending to zip my lips. She raised her eyebrow at me. I checked the clock on my phone. "I need to go to my photography class now." I said, pretending to gag. "Bye." Maya giggled, as I started to walk off. "Have fun!" She yelled at me down the hallway, "Doubt it!" I replied, before walking into Mrs Lynn's classroom.

I saw that she was talking to Lucas.

"Lucas.. These pictures are beautiful, and candid." I heard her say. I raised my eyebrow.

"It's as if she's your muse." She smiled at him. "She took my breath away." Lucas said.

Suddenly my shoes squeaked. Dammit. They both turned around and looked at me. My eyes went wide. Lucas had bruises and scraps, all on his face. What the hell? Lucas just stared at me.

"Riley! Oh glad that you're here. We were just discussing the photos that you two took yesterday." Mrs. Lynn said. I was still looking at Lucas, he had a puffy eye also. What happened to him? Lucas gave me a weird look.

"O-Oh yeah." I said, finally snapping away from Lucas's eyes. "I didn't see them." I said. Lucas scratched the back of his neck. Weird of him to not remark a cocky comment.

Mrs. Lynn handed me the camera and I scrolled through. Why was he taking pictures of me? Lots of them were of me laughing, because I was trying to cover the lense up. And then I saw the last picture. It was of me, looking up. What was I looking at? I glanced up to Lucas. He just smirked. I could see the reflection in my eyes, I was looking up at Lucas. I looked at him like that?

"The way you look at him is astonishing." Mrs Lynn said. I shook my head, laughing. "No no no. You see I—" I was cut off by Lucas covering my mouth. "Thank you for the A+ on BOTH of our photos, Mrs. Lynn. We'll go back to work on the editing now." Lucas said, before dragging me over to our seat. I licked the back of his hand, before slapping his arm away. "What the hell was that?" I spat. He's making it really hard for me to ignore him. "Did you want an A on our project or to tell the truth?" Lucas said.

"Whatever." I said, pulling out my notebook. "You really hate me don't you?" I could just tell by the tone in his voice that he was smirking. I didn't glance at him once.

"I'm trying to ignore you here." I replied, writing things down.

"See you do hate me." He said. I turned towards him. "Hate is a strong word." I said. He looked me in the eyes. "It is."

I shuffled in my seat. "I just strongly dislike you." I responded. He let out a chuckle. "You adore me." He winked. "I don't adore you." I spat. "You think I'm hot, admit it. Pictures don't lie." He said In a cocky tone. I set my pen down before pointing towards him.

"I'll admit that you're an ass." I smiled. He grabbed my finger. "I can tell that you're lying." He said smugly. I snatched my finger away. "You're not the only one who can tell when someone's lying. Which by the way, I'm not lying." I said. His cocky smile dropped. "Whatever you say, Riles." He said. I looked away, as my nostrils flared. Just ignore him Riley.

Mrs. Lynn was talking about filters, as I searched some up on the computer. I started editing the photo of the frog I took. I couldn't help but glance over at Lucas on and off, why did he look like that?

Lucas caught and saw that I was looking at him.

"Told you, you adore me." He said. I rolled my eyes. "No. I'm just wondering what the hell happened to your face." I responded. His expression went blank. "I got into a fight." He simply said. I just sat there, staring at him. "You're acting like it's not a big deal?" I said. He just shrugged. "It's not." He replied. "Who the hell were you fighting with?" I asked. "Some random kid." He said. He thinks he can just beat up a kid and it's okay? "What's wrong with you? You don't just go around beating people up." I spat. He sternly looked at me. "I didn't just go up to him and beat him for no reason, besides its none of your business. So stay out of it." He said, before the bell rang. And just like that, he grabbed his stuff and walked out of the classroom.

That's it, I hate Lucas Friar.
