Nya looks at the Yin/Yang Medallion in her shaking hand, her eyes filling with tears. Jay had only given it to her a few days ago. He hadn't chosen the best situation to give her the medallion, but it was a Jay situation and Nya loved him for that. Sinking onto her bed, Nya runs her fingers across the cool metal, her mind running.

Why does he love me?

I'm not pretty enough.

I'm not smart enough.

I can't say I love you to him!

Nya flops back onto her bed as tears stream down her cheeks, her body shaking, her mind bringing negative thoughts to her head.

He's pretending he loves you.

He doesn't love you.

He'll leave you eventually.

He's sick and tired of you waking him up at two am every night after a string of nightmares.

He doesn't love you.

A silent cry escapes Nya's as her entire body shakes. Curling up, Nya draws her knees to her chest and cries into them, unable to keep the cries silent. Nya holds her legs as her cries get louder and louder.

"Nya?"

Nya's head snaps up. Jay's stood in the doorway, his eyes reflecting worry and concern for her. He walks over and sits on the bed next to her, but doesn't touch her until he knows she's comfortable with it. A quiet whimper escapes Nya's lips.

"Sweetheart...what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Nya sniffles and sits up, wiping at her eyes, despite the tears being replaced not even a second later. Taking a shaky breath, Nya replies.

"W-Why d-do y-you l-love me?"

Jay's eyes widen in surprise. Blinking a few times, Jay reaches out and takes Nya's hand in his, squeezing it gently.

"Nya...I love you because you're the best person to ever come into my life. You're so pretty, cute, amazing, everything! While I say this, it's not about all about the looks. You've always been there when I needed you. You've helped me through so, so much. Please...please let me do the same for you."

A cry escapes Nya's lips as her body begins to shake again. Jay hushes her and opens his arms to her. After a moment of hesitation, Nya falls into Jay's arms, crying loudly.

"Oh Nya...shh, shh. I know...I know."

A loud cry turns into a sob as Nya stuffs her head into Jay's chest, wrapping her fingers around his shirt and shuffling onto his lap. Jay rocks her gently in his arms and rubs her back gently. Nya sobs into his chest, sinking further into his arms in an attempt to hide away from the world. Jay hums quietly, producing a familiar melody that always soothes Nya to sleep.

Nya's eyes begin to flutter, her head moving slightly as she tries her best to stay awake. Jay rubs her cheek gently, smiling when Nya emits a soft purr. Nya's eyes slide close. Shaky, but even breaths, alert Jay that Nya had fallen asleep, even if the sleep wasn't as peaceful as he hoped.

"Oh Nya...I love you so so much."

He plants a soft kiss on her forehead before laying down and holding her as she lays on top of him. Jay's hums slowly come to a stop as he falls asleep himself.
