Chapter Sixteen
JAREK
“Everyone shift and fight for your lives,” Alpha Gabriel commands as he transforms into a massive midnight black wolf with grey streaks. I’ve never seen a werewolf so huge in my life. My father is an alpha, but still pales compared to Alpha Gabriel’s wolf. What the hell?
‘Shift, damn it! Don’t just stand there!’ Alpha Gabriel commands me, his superior alpha tone making me shift on the spot without hesitation.
The massive being from my dream has manifested itself into reality and is standing tall and proud before me. She’s yanking wolves up and throwing them around as if they were rag dolls. No one can get close to her.
Sending a mind link to Alpha Gabriel, Trex and I round up children, elderly and other pack members who can’t fight and start escorting them to the emergency bunker. ‘This won’t do. We need to call in the heavy artillery. Xillon, take the alpha to the weapons shed.’
I transform back into human skin so I can converse with Zane. “Get these people to the bunker. Guard them with your life.” I command.
Naked as the day I was born, I sprint towards the weapons shed after Alpha Gabriel, Xavier and Dante’s wolf. Dante's wolf is almost just as massive as his fathers but not quite.
‘Pack warriors to the weapons shed! NOW!’ I command through an open mind link to all the pack warriors that haven’t arrived on the scene.
I glance in Annalise’s direction to see her convulsing on the stretcher that Alpha Gabriel and Xillon had brought her out on just moments ago.
“Fuck!” I growl and turn back. I can’t just leave her like that.
Once I’m by her side, her eyes burst open and all three hues-blue, gold and silver shine back at me. She stops convulsing and grins at me before her body shoots up into the sky. Oh, hell no! I’m not sticking around for this shit. I did that once before and it didn’t end well. It was all a dream, but, nope. I pluck my phone from the ground and take off, running to the weapons shed. Annalise better be on our side, damn it.
‘Son, this better be good. We are in the middle of negotiations.’
‘Were being attacked by a fucking monster. We need more weapons and reinforcements.’ I yell into the phone and hang up before my father could counter. I don’t have time for this shit.
Just when I thought I was going to get away unscathed, I’m plucked from the ground and come face to face with the monster that’s destroying what my lineage has fought to build. She squeezes me so tightly I can’t breathe. Every bone in my body threatens to explode.
“Put the Alpha's son down, or I’ll pluck your head from your body.”
The monster loosens her hold on my body and spins around. Chuckling and shaking her head, she shakes me, making my head spin and bile rise from my gut.
“You are keeping me from what I hold dear, so I plan to take everyone from you that you love. How you could love this creature is beyond me, but we won’t need to worry about that much longer, will we, Tamael?” She cackles.
I’m thrown to the ground with such force I can feel the bones in my body shatter. I cry out in pain and force myself to look up at the two monsters about to brawl. The pain shooting through my body ceases and I realize that I’m paralyzed from the neck down.
‘I cry out to my wolf. ‘I scream, but my pleas go unanswered. I can’t feel him. Trex is gone, wiped out from existence. I’m screwed. I can’t run a pack this way - wolfless and shattered.
“Get up, you worthless piece of trash.” She roars and plucks my feeble body from the ground. “This is priceless. I literally broke him.” She laughs and throws me back to the ground.
“Mother won’t give me what I’ve begged and pleaded for, for centuries. So now, I’m going to destroy her creation, and fathers. Shifters and humans will cease to exist.”
“Not if I have any say.” Annalise retorts.
It’s then that I notice how mesmerizing she is transformed into the creature who stands before me. Her once brunette locks are now a dark auburn and they billow down onto her ass in curly waves. She's short compared to the other creature, but at ten feet tall, she's still quite remarkable. She's slender with strong, taught muscles. Compared to the other creature, she has a more human appearance and her eyes are a shining silver. She’s naked, so every curve of her body stands out boldly. If I weren’t void of all feeling in my body, I’m certain I’d be sporting an erection right about now.
What I don’t understand is, where the fuck is everyone with the weapons? Everyone should have been here by now. Would it matter, though? I glance around and see no one other than the wolves that were out here fighting from the beginning. It’s as if everyone has vanished.
“Cast your sword, sister. We shall fight to the death with hand to hand combat.” Annalise commands.
“I am heir to our mother’s throne. I’m the one who taught you how to fight Tamael. You are no match for me. In fact, I’m growing quite bored. Your human body and wolf are mine.” She says as she kicks wolves away, trying to attack her. She chuckles and rolls her eyes dramatically. “Come at me. Let me see what you’ve got. I’m sure being on earth has left you rusty. This shouldn’t take long.” The creature says before casting her sword to the side, severing limbs and slicing through wolves’ bodies that lay in its wake. “Oops. Sorry. I hope none of those worthless mutts meant anything to you.”
Something in Annalise snaps and she goes ape shit on the creature. She puts into practice all the moves my father has ever taught her. Within mere moments, I can see this creature doesn’t stand a chance. She can’t even get a shot in. Annalise throws punches and kicks that send the other creature flying back and forth. She messed with the wrong woman. I know firsthand what Annalise is capable of when she’s angry and loses control.
“They have bullied me my whole life. You don’t get to take what’s mine.” Annalise screams as she sends the creature flying back several yards, after her foot came in contact with the creature’s throat.
Wolves whimper and tuck their tails between their legs as they do their best to stay out of the way of the two creatures. I would say this was a battle, but Annalise is dominating and the other creature, well, like I said before, doesn’t stand a chance.
Two radiant balls of light descend from the clouds.
“Sleep.” A voice that sounds like a massive waterfall, or some form of rushing water commands.
Blackness overshadows me and I’m sent into a dreamless sleep.
TAMAEL
A powerful force pulls me away from Zadrial, and it chained my wrists behind my back. Zadrial is lifted from the ground and floats near unconsciousness before me.
“This ends now.”
“Mother.”
I search for her, but all I see is two balls of blinding white light.
“I am sorry, my child. That it took me so long to find Zadrial. Time travels slowly here on earth. Minutes on our home planet are like years here on earth. I came as quickly as I could once Zamial told me where Zadrial was hiding. I will free you from the chains that bind you as soon as I have cast punishment on Zadrial. Being human has brought you great strength. I am proud of you. I always have been, my child.”
“Could you take pity on her mother? She merely yearns to be with the other half of her soul. He is here, on this planet as a wolf shifter. Could you please forgive her for what she has done?”
“Her offenses are vast. We must not ignore what she had planned. Perhaps with time, she will turn from her ways. Zadrial, you are hereby stripped of your title as heir to my throne. We are confining your soul to captivity on our home planet for three centuries and stripping you of your powers. We will revisit what is to be done with you once I have carried your sentence out.”
With that being said, the two blinding lights and Zadrial vanish and my hands are freed from the shackles that kept me from ripping Zadrial to shreds. My human Annalise is a force to be reckoned with. She pleaded for me to let her take over. After all she has been through in her life, I felt it was only fitting to allow her that chance.
‘Time to undo all the damage Zadrial created. Rest now.’
‘You won’t make us all forget, will you?’
‘I have to. Humans and werewolves would never understand. Your wolf Larrisa and I will become one. So you can never manifest into your celestial self again. You won’t remember what has happened. Neither will anyone else and time will be reset. I will always be here with you, inside your wolf, Larrisa. You might have a hard time explaining your wolf, though. Everyone has always known from the time you were born that you were different. I look forward to watching your life unfold. Now that Zadrial is gone, you will gain your wolf. I don’t know why I’m telling you all of this. You will remember nothing anyway. Rest now, and when you wake, everything will go back to normal and it will be as if the last eight months never happened.’
